I'm glad to see BioWare reaching out to the rest of the world, but the general reaction here pisses me off. BioWare was doing this as an extra fan-service thing, they had no responsibility or pressure to do ANYTHING for us, so people should have just given them a nod of respect. They are doing something above and beyond what they need to do, or what anyone expected them to do.
I can't believe people are bashing them for this, for doing totally un-needed fan-service. They are an awesome company to be doing this at all, in any regions, so just be happy good companies like this exist (as opposed to crap companies like Activision).
Yeah, why does that matter? Does my opinion count less because I haven't posted in this forum before?
I think he was being humorous. I'm still not sure why people are so up in arms about the whole thing.
I don't think I'll be coming back here either. After reading all of these people's posts, I think I'll celebrate my love of Mass Effect and Dragon Age elsewhere.
Like go back to GameInformer's forums and ResumePlay where people are generally respectful and thoughtful.

There's still bitter feelings, but the sentiment is very valid. Bioware or even EA during the planning stages would have had more then ample time and oppertunity to be or become aware that certain aspects of the contest or other nations legalities would comprimise the event.
This.

I don't see any company as large as EA or Bioware for that matter creating a social event in the intrest of it's community being poorly planned or executed. It just doesn't happen.TonyTheBossDanza123 wrote...
Why is it no matter how many times I see it I am still amazed at how quickly common sense is thrown out the window when in a mob?
I hate our species.
I think what it really boiled down to for Bioware is they spent the time, resources and genuine intrest in giving back to the community that they decided it would be better to possibly ****** people off and hope they don't over react, as opposed to stoping or halting the event altogether.
Is this the first contest you've entered?

Fine, if you disagree at least name an event a game company has done to give back to it's fans where it went as sideways on them as Biowares did.tony2077 wrote...

People were mad b/c there was a big countdown for it, regardless of whether or not you were eligible and it was penned as an "Epic Community Event". Then they found out that only US residents need apply.TonyTheBossDanza123 wrote...
I'm surprised people are so mad about this stuff? I mean most contests exclude florida because of their legal system. This isn't the first time this has happened guys, what is this the first contest you've entered?
Edit: PS, read the rules of the contests you enter people, 99% of the time Florida and NY are excluded.
They could have done things better, like making sure that it was clear that this was just part 1 of the celebration and such earlier, but a response the next day on the issue and clarifying that more would be coming is still good.
And some of you just drop your pants and get the K-Y out with a stupid grin on your face.
What do you want instead...blood? Their firstborn..or maybe some death and destruction?
Its not every day that a CEO shows up and makes a personal apology to a gaming community.
The way I was raised is..someone is sincere and apologizes, you have at least the good grace to accept that apology and move on.
Yeesh.

Damn some of you are easily pleased....your all pitch forks and torches...and then one simple, very generic, very scripted, and very hollow and empty post later which probably took ohhhhh all of 3 minutes to post....
and your all happy little campers again lmao.....jesus christ.....
Depending on who you talk to, Maviarab, there were different groups with different goals. Some wanted an apology, some wanted free stuff, some wanted to be included, etc etc. Me, all I wanted was an acknowledgement that there was an issue. By the looks of the the responses, it seems that a portion of the people wanted the same thing.
And I prefer to be a happy clam than a camper.

I'm with you Maviarab. Far from mollifying me, I find the claim that apparently lawyers ambushed them at the last second is insulting to our intelligence.
Sloth, thanks mate, as a member of Mensa and being very legally savy, it actually is an insult to my intelligence.
Its a cupboard love apology post in my opinion, very empty and hollow, and was done purely to appease the sheep here who are now happy little campers....some people are so easily pleased....
Thanks for calling me a sheep, Maviarab. I appreciate it.<_<
Are all Mensa members so egotistical as to need to flaunt their membership and insult all those "happy little campers"?
I'll be awaiting your completely sincere, absolutely heartfelt apology. Until I see it, all I'm hearing from you is "Four legs bad, two legs good."

It's better than no response at all, and while I'm not convinced by the reasoning given, I am not so obsessed with forcing people to admit they're wrong. Even if the excuse is just to save face, they're promising to make up for the incident, and I am choosing to once again believe them when they make these promises. I am capable of forgiving most people once. Obviously if they don't follow through, I doubt I'd be the only one they lost forever.
Until I actually see it I won't believe it, they also said that they would fix the game months ago. All I saw was an expansion to get more money with the same bugs carried over into it. I find it really hard to take them at their word simply from what I've seen since buying the game.
Don't get me wrong, it was great to see someone from Bioware come out with a statement, but as some people have pointed out it has a very scripted, hollow feel to it. As much as I'd like to believe it, their behavior so far leads me to believe that it could very well be more PR to buy them time to try and fix things. It's possible, but hard to believe, that a multi-billion dollar company like EA that probably has a whole floor of lawyers to work on stuff like this had no idea os the legal issues regarding this "event". For a worldwide company to have such little knowledge of international laws is very hard to believe.
Either way I really like the new sig and gotta keep it.

Edit: Cause you can't seem to keep a conversation to a direct post to you.
Re-read what Ray posted. Re-read the reasoning. Re-read what I wrote and think for a second beyond "Oh look more sniveling." aspect. And then think of the contest.
Then once your done thinking about those things. Realize that companies do not do poorly plan events. No matter the event. They do however allow exceptions for those events.
