Yet, it is still not enough.
This epic community event no longer feels as epic as it once did, because it is only now that I realize that I have almost no possibility of winning.
The people who will win these auctions are the people who run popular blogs or websites. Only they can generate the amount of tokens that they need to win all the big ticket items. The Twitter contests are a joke, since most people don't win them anyways and the tokens won are few.
So... I am very disappointed, BioWare. I am not disappointed by the idea of a contest itself, but rather, the way it was structured - only the popular people will win, and the rest of us, if we are lucky, will be fighting for the smallest of scraps. And even then, we won't win.
I understand that this spamming campaign was a way to generate viral marketing for BioWare through the involvement of popular Internet figures, but still, I express my disappointment. We, the community, have been shafted.
That doesn't mean that I am no longer a BioWare fan, but... wasn't there a better way to conducting this viral marketing campaign? Isn't there a better way to reward the community and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity in participating in such community events? I am certain that something like a video contest or a photo contest might have generated significantly less controversy and ensured that everyone has an equal chance of winning.
I am very disappointed, BioWare.
