BioWare, this contest was poorly designed.

I currently have 6,810 tokens so far. I have gathered nearly 60 referral clicks today and around 35 yesterday. All through spamming various forums that I frequent, Twitter, and Facebook.

Yet, it is still not enough.

This epic community event no longer feels as epic as it once did, because it is only now that I realize that I have almost no possibility of winning.

The people who will win these auctions are the people who run popular blogs or websites. Only they can generate the amount of tokens that they need to win all the big ticket items. The Twitter contests are a joke, since most people don't win them anyways and the tokens won are few.

So... I am very disappointed, BioWare. I am not disappointed by the idea of a contest itself, but rather, the way it was structured - only the popular people will win, and the rest of us, if we are lucky, will be fighting for the smallest of scraps. And even then, we won't win.

I understand that this spamming campaign was a way to generate viral marketing for BioWare through the involvement of popular Internet figures, but still, I express my disappointment. We, the community, have been shafted.

That doesn't mean that I am no longer a BioWare fan, but... wasn't there a better way to conducting this viral marketing campaign? Isn't there a better way to reward the community and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity in participating in such community events? I am certain that something like a video contest or a photo contest might have generated significantly less controversy and ensured that everyone has an equal chance of winning.

I am very disappointed, BioWare.

i hate to say it but i agree i currently have 6800 tokens, i thought i was doing fine until i see people who have 8 to 9 thousand tokens and they receive like 40 clicks per hour, ill be lucky to reach 10000 by the end of the contest

What's really sad is now that they are having Bazaars in other regions later in the year, all the crappy design will probably be fixed, and the people that are eligable now will end up being the only part of the real community that get totally screwed.

Because the contest clearly favors the popular and leaves everyone else with mere scraps. If everyone had an equal chance of winning, then I wouldn't be complaining.

I am sure some of you guys get what I am saying, right?

Yeah, it's a pretty lame design.

You guys are forgetting the fact that auctions will be running every 15 minutes, including all night, and there doesn't appear to be a public schedule for when and which items will be put on the block.

What? You don't think people willing to spend untold amounts of time to rack up thousands and thousands of extra tokens are going to be willing to spend a few solid days camped out in front of their computers to suck up all the stuff they can?

I promise you there will be atleast one massively token rich bidder around for any given 15 minute period.

Can people win more than one item?

I think most of us at least have a shot, even if it is far from a promise of winning.

That's what I'm thinking, use the Americans as the guinea pigs and roll out a more polished version to the Europeans.

Yeah, you can win 2 auctions, after all points are forfeit.  But that means if there are only 50 or 60 dedicated token ****s out there, they can take up almost all the quality prizes if they spend the time on their computers during the auctions.   There have been thousands of responses to each Twitter challenge, so I'd say 50 or 60 is conservative.

People can win only two items maximum, but it can be guaranteed that there will be dozens of individuals with ridiculous amounts of tokens bidding.

I bet the minimum bid for something like a book or a t-shirt will be in the thousands.

Not only this but I hear they're auctioning off Geth. GETH!
We both know they're not the real prize here.

(Couldn't resist) :innocent:

It's all around great implementation except for the small fact that unless you have a blog or admin a site (and probably have no use for a new computer except for aesthetic value) you won't be able to compete for the top prizes (computers). The 15 minute rotation thing won't matter, the people that have the most tokens will make SURE someone alerts them when the big items are on the bloc.
