^^that may be fair but i think it would very difficult, not only would they have to find everyone who used it ( which they will ), but then finding out exactly how many clicks someone got from each 1 im not sure but sounds time consuming
they wont find 100% of people out there that are using methods that are less than moral...
they will get those that used this specific thing on this site.
there are way too many workarounds out there
and you can tell by my less than 7k token count that im obviously guity of haxxorz
No. Mr. Priestly has mentioned that they can track people using the exploit on other message boards, too.
yeah but im sure there are other dirty tricks out there that can get multiple clicks for you that are as simple as changing ip addys by driving down the street and connecting to wifi with your laptop... (which is obviously dirty and you should not do) or use of third party programs that help u workaround...
im sure the DEV team has this IMAGE issue worked out, but if people out there are wanting to play dirty they will.
in fact id be willing to bet that anyone who has enough tokens to win the big prizes has used an exploit of some kind. either that or has way too many forum buddies in contrast to RL.
im not getting anything bigger than a tshirt with my 7k tokens... to get the computers its gonna be 100k tokens or more

You're getting nothing with 20k or less tokens.
Well... there are 2000+ prizes being given away (412 different, but 2000+ total). Considering that everyone will dump all of their tokens into one prize, most people should be able to win something, even if they only have 7-8k in tokens.

Where did this come from?
Last time I checked, Crixt was the highest with ~23k.

There will be 412 "prize packs". Any combination of those 2189 items will be a "prize pack".

Just because his count is the highest publically recorded doesn't make it the actual highest.
I gaurantee you there are people over 30k at this very moment(no, i'm not one of them).

This is that "herd mentality" I was talking about. I find it difficult to place blame.reininop wrote...
My reason for eventually using it, whether wrong or not, was that after 2 days of watching it being discussed on these forums, there was no comment on whether it was or was not an exploit. I watched my point total begin to pale in comparison to other people's and still no one was swinging the ban hammer. Eventually, I decided that all the legitimate twittering and posting that had been done was all going to be for naught, as there was no way to keep up with the img people.
After Stanley commented on it, and discussion was still allowed, I assumed they were saying "we don't like it, but we're not going to stop it."
I'm not trying to make excuses for it and if they ban they ban, I wish they would have brought the hammer down as soon as this started though so everyone would have known up front for sure.
Silence was tantamount to complicity in this case.
To use a very odd metaphor:
There is a big pile of candy.
You are told to get as much candy as you can.
You see lots of people using trash bags to get the candy.
You, therefore, do the same.
3 days later you are told you were only supposed to use your hands and should have ignored everyone telling you to use trash bags
In this case a truer analogy would be:
There is a big pile of candy.
You are told to get as much candy as
you carry.
You see lots of people using thier cars and think 'Hey, didn't this say CARRY? Oh well I will just do it because everyone else is even though it is obviously against the spirit of the contest.".
3 days later you are told you were only supposed to take what you culd carry, not fit in your car and
should have ignored everyone telling you to use a car since it was pretty obvious that wasn't what you were originally told.
Instead fo admitting that you wer wrong, you then cry like a 3 year old and demand that your keep your carload of candy.

yeah i totaly meant to say id be LUCKY to get a tshirt with my 7k
it kind of sucks that they make the reference such a large part of the token system...
i mean those of us who are loyal to the product and have everygame wont get a sniff of the points compared to those that have a following on multiple sites...
i mean im going on 4 or 5 forums with reference linking and still have less than 1k in url tokens while people out there without all three games have over 15k in tokens...
meh... doesnt matter ill lose all my tokens anyway for posting in this thread

Your Total: It's larger than an integer can store.
Do some research on it, I did enough to get it that high.

They've already pissed off a significant amount of the Bioware community with exclusions and now they seem to be geared to ****** off another significant chunk.
So, their sneaky plans to take the Escapist contest might just backfire on them.

I'd still like to know how they are going to separate out those who "cheated" and those who could get set up by someone else. As the author of the 30pg URL Exchange I could very easily go on a posting spree and get about 500 peoples tokens removed just find and replace [*url] & [*/url] with [*img] & [*/img] , a quick copy+paste across some popular message board and the forums get burned down by the outraged flames. Even if they removed my post I still got the back up list on my computer. I'm not gonna do it, I'm not like that but if someone did...could you imagine? Would make the "I'm not part of the community" whiners seem like mewling kittens.
QFT.
This deserves an answer more than anything, imo.

"There is someone with 30k" is not the same as "If you have 20k or less, you're getting nothing."
The highest number we have is 23k. There are probably a few people higher than that. Assuming that there are over a hundred people much higher than that though (one person suggested 100k on the other thread) makes little sense.
Edit: Two days ago, Stanley said that the highest number of tokens was around 12k.

Bioware was originally founded in the second week of February, 1995, and yet celebrating first week of April. So, I have a feeling they timed this Bazaar to help out their chances of winning the Escapist Magazine March Madness. Driving people to Twitter (which gets them double votes) and getting tons of attention from the community the same two weeks that would be the final rounds of the Escapist contest.
They've already pissed off a significant amount of the Bioware community with exclusions and now they seem to be geared to ****** off another significant chunk.

There could be people outside of the BioWare community who are participating in the contest and using the exploits as well. We don't have solid numbers, but if people are truly dedicated, I daresay they can reach 50,000 by Tuesday.

Yes, yes I am.
I also don't see how people who cheat and get called out for it expect sympathy.
