I think something with the first redirect system wasn't tracking unique clicks either when people were using the IMG tag or the Facebook status like you mention. So, you could have the same people causing your tokens to go up each time they viewed either. This made things far worse than they should have been.

Incorrect, the only time the unique click tracking stopped working was when it was entirely not working when they updated the code to add another layer between the social link and the token increment.  Other than that it's always been 10 per unique user, up until 500, and 1 per unique thereafter.

P.S. Click mah hearts.

@Maria Yeah, but that one's been photoshop'd. Her ribs are too small for her shoulders, he tummy's been slimmed down a bit (as you'd prolly see a little roll because her back is arched), and her hips have been slimmed down a LOT. It looks like at the point riiiight below her boobs is where they started cloning out the extras, because her arms look normal.

This is an interesting claim. Why would the creators of the billboard make her look *more* attractive, when the ad is suggesting that if you don't eat their product, you'll end up fat and ugly like the woman in the photo?

I was talking about the unique IP filtering, not the entire click system. The first system wasn't keeping track of unique IPs if the click was coming from the IMG or Facebook pages. It seemed to only track unique IPs if it was a normal click, so I'm assuming the validation was cookie based (since cookies cannot be assigned or read through image requests).

Feel free to do a test. If you need help, PM and I'll share some PHP code.

Well, it's Monday. Time to bring this to the top and keep it there. Time to see if they will respond; your move BioWare.

I'm not expecting anything fast, they're on Mountain time, so they're probably just starting to filter into the office now. Considering this all happened Thursday evening before a long weekend, they will probably need some time to sit down and figure everything out as well.

I still say it was always WAI, and no code you have now will help me test what was working days go but no longer working no; but thanks.

Have to wait for them to find all the eggs too.

You forget it takes them at least two days to say anything.  They had time to say something before the weekend, and someone could have said something over the weekend (I'm guessing they have internet at their houses). They probably won't say anything until right before the contest so people keep spaming for them.

Spamming isn't going to change anything. They'll respond when they respond. Like it or not, them's the breaks.

I know this is the situation that is taking all the attention, and rightfully so because it's deciding everything for who has a chance in the auctions, but it's not even the only major FUBAR of the rules.

The Challenges specifically state in the rules that every eligable entry WILL be judged, and that isn't being done either, it's been confirmed by Jesse Reid that they are only taking a random sampling of entries and judgind based on only those. So you have people winning with 3 word answers when much better tweets never get judged, despite the rules saying they were supposed to.

Not many seem to care about that, and now with this fiasco I guess it's moot, but still, it's an issue that further shows how screwed up this contest has been.

I just don't see how you fix it at this point, no matter what is decided, a large number of people get screwed, some deservedly, but most were just doing what they thought was right.

I did not use the image exploit, or any exploit, I played it straight up, but got so disheartened after the first few days, seeing people that were using at that time an acceptable exploit to have more than twice the token total I had, that I just gave up, I stopped actively tweeting and chasing URLs, because it was clear to me the exploit people would walk away with everything, I go away for the holiday and come back to find out, now I'm screwed because I gave up. I'm not blaming anyone but myself, but this whole mess definately impacted any chance I had, and I'm sure others.

I say just scrap the auctions at this point, salvage what you can, run a random drawing of forum users to distribute prizes, and call it a day.

The challenges actually pissed me off. The only way you could have a chance is to spam twitter. Basically this whole bazaar is really just a contest of the spamers.

I meant code to show cookies can't be assigned via IMG tags. Man, hard talking to you.

QFT

They're teaching us how to spam so we can spam the Escapist contest. Whip us up in a fury so they win.

Don't you know?
Zero Tolerance is the only way to go.
We're all scum and don't deserve to be reasoned with. Nevermind how poorly communication on the issue was handled, it was clear this was cheating from the start, so clear it only took them 2 days to let anyone know.

Just a few more hours before it all starts, has anyone been DQed or lost points? Nothing like having the people running the contest ignoring everyone in the contest...

EDIT: I finally got an answer. ChrisNo one will be DQed, but some people will use the points they earned with illegal tagsbut game registration, Twitter challenges, etc will not be removed"
