I know this is the situation that is taking all the attention, and rightfully so because it's deciding everything for who has a chance in the auctions, but it's not even the only major FUBAR of the rules.
The Challenges specifically state in the rules that every eligable entry WILL be judged, and that isn't being done either, it's been confirmed by Jesse Reid that they are only taking a random sampling of entries and judgind based on only those. So you have people winning with 3 word answers when much better tweets never get judged, despite the rules saying they were supposed to.
Not many seem to care about that, and now with this fiasco I guess it's moot, but still, it's an issue that further shows how screwed up this contest has been.
I just don't see how you fix it at this point, no matter what is decided, a large number of people get screwed, some deservedly, but most were just doing what they thought was right.
I did not use the image exploit, or any exploit, I played it straight up, but got so disheartened after the first few days, seeing people that were using at that time an acceptable exploit to have more than twice the token total I had, that I just gave up, I stopped actively tweeting and chasing URLs, because it was clear to me the exploit people would walk away with everything, I go away for the holiday and come back to find out, now I'm screwed because I gave up. I'm not blaming anyone but myself, but this whole mess definately impacted any chance I had, and I'm sure others.
I say just scrap the auctions at this point, salvage what you can, run a random drawing of forum users to distribute prizes, and call it a day.
