What about others who use your referral?

Let's say Poster A doesn't like Poster B. Poster A does the exploit for Poster B, and gets Poster B nulled? That sounds a bit worse than where we were before, lol.

So, if the tracking of img linking is traced based on who's link it is, this now becomes a method of getting other people disqualified.  How is this okay?

Mr. Priestly has mentioned that others using the BB code exploit on other forums will be caught as well. They can track it.

If they track it based on who's link and not who posted it, what's to stop people from using this method just to get other people disqualified?

Yah, good point. It's easy to figure out a person's number to make the link.

Better dq everyone here at the Unique URL Exchange because we provide a method of opening links all at once.  Since someone is not individually clicking each link it's sketchy.  Also almost none of those people in the threads are my friends, in fact I hate quite a few of them, more sketchiness!!!!

I don't even have a monstrous total from this: 8386

Too much time spent on this to have it reset to zero only because a thousand are from img tags.

Well mine is out of my signature then, now that it is settled. I just hope they don't take ALL our tokens =/ Happy to abide by the rules, we just never knew it was officially illegitimate.

Just a few clips from the contest rules, after a very brief skim.

From General Conditions:

"In the event of a dispute concerning the Competition, EA's decision shall be final and legally binding. No correspondence will be entered into."

"Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or amend the Competition at any time for any or no reason. Any amendments to the Competition shall be effective when we make the notification available to you. Your continued participation in the Competition shall constitute your continued acceptance to be bound by the Official Rules and any modifications thereof."

"Sponsor further reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry or game play process."

From Cheating, Abuse and Disorderly Behavior:

Any entrant may be disqualified immediately from this Competition and, at the discretion of the Sponsor or its designees from further EA Online competitions, for any failure to comply with the EA Online Terms or for any cheating, including: ... 4. taking advantage of known exploits in the game (it is the responsibility of players to understand and avoid all current illegal exploits).

Quote emphasis mine.

Well, what can we do? Our greed probably got the best of us, but morality isn't exactly black nor white.

This whole exploit snafu makes a good case in personal ethics, let me tell you. It was neither right nor was it wrong.

It's BioWare's contest, they can disqualify anyone they want.

Also not to mention that they will be reduced on the first day of auction--next week--so I can't even begin to restart "legitimately" with quizzes and facebook clicks, etc. if that's what it takes.

So it is now a competition of who can get the most people disqualified. Gotcha.

Sloth of Doom, don't be so cocky. If this contest were available in your country, you probably would have used the exploit too.

As I say again: this exploit was neither right, nor was it wrong.

Your point about concept 4 in the cheating section doesn't make sense consider that is EA's policy regarding their GAMES. not this competition, this is not a GAME.

and according to this policy, the amendment cannot be retroactive.

Chris, so do exploiters get a complete removal of their total points, or just points deducted that originated from img tags?

Answer please. So I know if I should get the **** out of this cluster**** competition or not.

True that... we don't even know if they will take all tokens or just Unique URL Referrals... Would be nice to just get it over with :(

I used to turn my referral link into my answer on a post, but I don't do it no more because it's not worth getting disqualified.

I am going to assume that people who have been doing it will be disqualified once the bidding starts.

BioWare owes nothing to you. This is their contest. They can disqualify people at will and there is very little that anyone can legally do about it.

Yeah, it pretty much sets people up to disqualify others. En masse if a person wanted to. This is something that needs to be commented on.

Well whatever happens, if I am going to get disqualified for this I would like to know now, and not wait another 5 days until the auction starts for them to say "OH yeah, you did that image thing 5 days ago, kthxbai".

If I am to be disqualified from this, so be it, but I don't want to have to waste another 5 days not knowing for sure but still getting tokens legit and just lose them all for that.

I just promoted the hell out Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age all over the net--legitmately without img tags--and they don't owe me the decency of not resetting my total to zero? I disagree.

I just hope they don't leave us hanging on the details, allow us to continue spreading advertisement for them, the pull the rug out from under us at the last second, right before the competition.

I really want to keep liking BioWare, I really do.  Please level with your community.  If we thought it was against the rules, we wouldn't have done it openly.
