And a story was on, which quite frankly pissed me off. A froshman hung herself after bullying/harrasment by her peers. And what made it off was that the school admins knew about this and failed to step in causeing this girl her life.

Those who participated in bullying this girl until she felt the only way to make things better was to take her own life should be ashamed. I hope they get what they deserve.

Yes, it is sad. But we, as a society, have decided that using physical responses to stand up for yourself is unacceptable. I happen to have a different opinion on the subject. I wonder what would have happened if the girl had told someone close to her and they trained her to put the "bully" in some sort of restraining move and force them to tap out. Bet the teasing would stop then, don't you?

Once in a while it is a good thing to have it brought to our attention that there are indeed really horrible people on the internet.randumb vanguard wrote...

Condolences and the recognition of the kinds of things that harm society are never a negative legacy.randumb vanguard wrote...
it happens everyone suffers loss there is no point worrying about the loss of people you don't know when you have your own, it is just unneeded sadness. In fact I believe taking time to cry about it is a disservice to the dead person for they then have the sadness of everyone on their concience.

We all know it I am just saying that worrying helps nobody, in fact it ruins your day and may kill the good mood of those around you.the_one_54321 wrote...

Maybe those around us should have these types of things brought to their attention? It's easy to forget that bullying can have a profound impact on people. I don't see it much at my school, but I don't think that means I can just say "meh, I don't want my good mood killed *ignore*".

Yes, I understand it better. I may not agree with it, but I'd like to apologize for the whole "Screw you" bit. Sorry about exploding at you.

I understand and completely disagree. A legacy of learning, reform, and offered condolences is not at all a bad thing. Perhaps people don't need to be getting their hearts broken over it, but brushing it off your shoulders is an equally inapropriate response.randumb vanguard wrote...

I pray that she now sees how many people care for her.
While I do not condone the taking of a life...I think it has less to do with "No one loves me!" and more to do with a feeling of isolation. Who do I turn to? What do I say?
Again, not every teenager is comfortable asking for help, and fewer still understand how to deal with bullies.

I feel that it is disingenuous to expect each human to feel something for every other human. I think it is natural for people to feel emotions only when the person affected is close to them. Not everyone reacts emotionally to the news of a murder in a far off land or even something like this.
Edit: If you haven't figured it out yet, this is a defense to randumb's question as to why it's bad if he brushes off his shoulders. I'm defnding his point slightly.

Being able to directly relate to this story I'm about as biased as it gets, so I'll just step out of this one now and sidestep the possibility someone's response will really aggravate me.
