Who is the idiot who thought up of exclusive pre order bonus items or exclusive items for different versions of the game? They all should be released FOR FREE.

Other than having a deal with gamestop, I don't understand why there should be exclusive items that would require someone to buy the game 4 or 5 times if they wanted all of the items.  The genius who thought up of this should be fired right now becasue they obviously have no idea to please the fans.

This era is not about the fans or gaming as a hobby. People are too busy complimenting the business decisions, such as this one, and don't care about the hobby.

As long as someone calls it a smart business decision it somehow is okay.

It's simply a promotional gimmick that will net a company more money. I blame EA. Grrrr.

I'm not sure if you are trolling or just whining. Can you clairify?

Better question, who's idea was it to make the exclusive items DLC rather than in-game content?

I bough a used copy of Mass Effect 2: Collector's Edition online thinking that the Collector's Armor would be included on the disc, only to find out later it was DLC.

I'm sorry, but that's BS!
People buy used games, Bioware! Get over it!
It's dumb to punish your fans for buying a used copy of the Limited Edition version of your game that's no longer available new!
MAYBE if you had've continued selling the CE Version then I would've bought it new, but I didn't have the money to preorder it at launch, so what do you want from me?

Just whining.  It is a gross injustice for different retail stores to attempt to gain an edge on sales, don't you know?

Unfortunately it’s a marketing scam. Gamestop is the king of doing this crap. it’s a rare game release where you don’t see a gamestop add for an exclusive in game item if you get the game from them.

I’m not sure how it is with all games but I do know that EA’s The Sims 2 (not sure about 3) games have “exclusive” items based on where you buy it at. It does suck that this is the best way these people think they will get your business.

I did hear that they will get released sometime but I don’t know if that’s true or not.

Guess what, when people buy used games, Bioware doesn't see a dime from it.  Why would they get over it?

Like I said, I WANTED to buy it new, but I didn't have the money to preorder it or buy it at launch, and by the time I could the CE Version was no longer available.

Bioware should've just made the content in-game and already on the disc.

Why? If they have a way of encouraging people to purchase their games in a way that will actually benefit them, why wouldn't they do it? Because you don't want them to?

That is really a non-issue. The situation of used game sales have been going hand and hand with video games ever since the first Nintendo. It is a separate market and has not hindered new game sales, please see the recent record breaking sales of games like COD and GTA.

DLC is a way for devs to get some money from used sales and new alike but Project Ten Dollar is double dipping at its most basic.

If the games gonna sell once and they're gonna make money on that single sale only, then how does it benefit them to make it DLC that only the 1st buyer can benefit from?

They're just punishing people for buying used games, which is especially stupid considering it's a Limited Edition Version that not everyone will get a chance to buy new in the first place!

What do you mean, it's a non-issue?? It's a non-issue for Gamestop and the retail stores that sell used games, but for the publishers it means that their profits drop off sharply after the first few weeks of sales.

The DLC is to encourage people to buy them new so that EA/Bioware will actually see some of the profit instead of having it all go to Gamestop or CD Warehouse or your buddy who just finished the game and will lend it to you.  How are you not understanding this?

It does not. Being able to sell back games encourages gamers to sometimes buy more than they normally would.
Used game sales is a separate market from new game sales.
This era there is a number of people being confused by companies like EA, calling used game sales bad.
Although at the same time EA was able to spend 860 million to by Bioware. Used game sales is being used as a scapegoat to their investors to explain away how bad EA manages its money, projects, and customers.

That "idiot" was smart enough to get me to buy two versions of the game.

Yea this is about Bioware trying to make the money they worked hard to make.. Whenever you buy a game from Gamestop used you are giving all your money to Gamestop which guess what they use to get game companies to give them the rights to special Pre-Order items.. It all feeds back into itself..

Again, those are benefits for Gamestop, or whatever other game companies are pushing their product at the time you go in to buy whatever game used.  If you don't like Project $10, don't get it.  If you resent the DLC offered to people who buy the game new, don't buy it new.  But who the heck are you to demand that they give you all this stuff for free?  Get over yourself.

It is a very sad truth. This does sound like EA's influence as well.

Gamestop has zero products until they buy new games from publishers or buy back games(the pub has gotten paid for) from gamers. No matter the circle you look at the publisher has recieved their due.
My responses have only been dealing with how used game sales work and how EA as a company can not compete but needs to buy the competition.
Calm yourself, there seems to be some confusion on your part. I have made no demands for free anything. I know exactly what to do with my money I don't need your telling me at all.
I just stopped believing in corporate BS and gimmicks.

By that logic it doesn't matter how many games sell as long as they keep coming back to gamestop's used bin. And good for you for being so ~*enlightened*~. Bioware should be ashamed of themselves for trying to stay in business in an age of expanded pirating.

Basically the bottom line here is that all these "exclusive" items you guys are so concerned about don't affect the outcome of the game at all. If not having one special piece of armor is going to somehow impair your ability to complete or enjoy the games, you have much bigger issues than corporate America.

The issue is not Bioware finding ways to increase sales.  The issue is in order to get all of the items someone would need to buy the game FOUR TIMES.  The collectors edition has enough extra content already so they didn't need exclusive things.  Nothing is special about downloading the game so that version doesn't deserve an exclusive item.  And the stores not named gamestop should've had some deal with Bioware like adding a poster or something.  The GTA games have huge paper maps included in their games and no one paid them for it.  So I'm pretty sure Bioware can turn that map into a cool poster which would only be included in new games.  That way it's a win win win for everyone.  Bioware would've had a good amount of sales from that, the store would've had a bunch of sales and the people who hate gamestop would've has another option and a good reason to buy it at a different store but those stores shouldn't have recieved any in game bonus items.  I think if Bioware did the poster thing or something simialr they'd actually get more sales from it.
