I have not found it - but if Dumat's Spine is a Dar'misaan, then I would assume that the Claw is a Dar'misu.

Interesting, I've never heard of this.

Dumat's Claw looks similar to the elven Dar'Misaan or the Dragonslayer sword you pick up in the town of Redcliffe. I got it from the Smuggler's Hold in Amaranthine. Has three slots for runes. Not a bad piece of steel. )

for some reason.. I cannot trigger the random encounter with the pirates...Anyone having advice? I spent more then 45 mins walking between the Anselm Reef and Forlon Cove.... no luck got a darkspawn encounter and 2 wolf encounters....

Hey guys, can anyone tell me where I can find Dumat's Spine, I know I got the Claw from a random encounter, a place called Pirate Infested Shores, from the Pirate Leader, I got this encounter when I was traveling between Amaranthine and The Blackmarsh, hope that helps

It's in the Keep, like the first time your in there. It's on a armor or weapon stand.

this..both times I've played I got it right at the keep after the attack is over just sitting their on a weapon rack.

great sword..though I hate the look of it.

random encounters in this game are a joke!! have 2 full play-through the expansion. NOT one SINGLE time did that stupid encounter triggered. I had lots of other encounters..mostly in the forest and some at the farm. Maybe the encounter is triggered by quest or something I don't know. Spent like 2h moving on the map from vigil's keep to blackmarsh and nothing! this really sux

yes the frequency of random encounters does stink especially when certain pieces of a set are only available in a random encounter.

would love if they could improve the frequency of random encounters in Awakenings.

after some 2 more hours and 35 encounters still nothing.... btw i managed to somehow force a part of the random encounters : on the map instead of clicking on another destination click at ur current location. This will get u to the same location but the loading screen is like 2 sec. If you spam this (map+click current location) after like 5-10 clicks you get a random encounter. The only encounters I found so far are in the forest thou...

I have encountered every random encounter described here : http://dragonage.wik...ndom_Encounters except this one with the pirates. So I belive is somehow quest related or something. 
Btw I still have to recruit Sigrun or whats her name (dwarf rogue) maybe after that? 
My playthrough is like this : I gave the farmers the soldiers. I upgraded the keep (money+stone) and gave soldiers for the stone quarry. I discovered the assassination plot at the farm. I talked myself out of the revolt and I gave grain to the starving people. 

Anyone that actually made the encounter, what were the moral choices you made?

NB: I think this entire thread is veering quite close to [SPOILERS], although I don't think I've given anything new away.



I've only gotten the pirate encounter (and Velanna's personal quest) by going through the zz_fab debug room. I got tired of item bugs (Blackblade set, barrier runes, one character ending up naked on import and again in the Mines) so I figured if I'm cheating in a single-player game anyway, I might as well get the interesting encounters as well.



This event is waterside, so I'd expect it will only trigger if you're near a coastline, such as Forlorn Cove (it actually appears to be on a different part of the same map as that, although much further away on the "world" map.)

Okay gentlemen I finally got Dumat's Claw. Here is what I did. After trying to run back and forth along the coastline to no avail I decided to complete one of the main quests. The Silverite mines and I took the two dwarfs and the elf mage. When I got done instead of going straight to the keep for elf lady's joining I thought I'd run by the coastline one more time. I got a new random fight. I got the elf girls meeting her old mates hmmm... well that was new. Then I ran back to The Black Marsh and low and behold I got the Pirates random encounter.



Now that is the good news. Here is the bad. Dumats Claw is made of Dragons Bone. Yuck! I expected a matching White Steel (which goes great with my Juggy Armor) I mean why not? So I got the claw but I'm very disappointed in its look. I mean the maroon/red color wouldn't be so bad if the hilt was a different color than the blade. It look cheezy. And for being so hard to get too. Oh well. But I thought you all should know. Late.

Did you try leaving the Claw in your Personal Storage chest for a while? I found that sometimes if I leave weapons and armor in there - particularly weapons and armor imported from Origins -  the materials will upgrade (for instance, I left a Butterfly Sword in there, and later discovered it had become Volcanic Aurum.) Dunno if that would change the physical appearance, though.
