Cubos Gaming cancelling all MW2 pre-orders

According to a user on MyFrag, Cubos Gaming have sent out emails stating that all pre-orders for Modern Warfare 2 have been cancelled due to the shocking news that there will be no dedicated servers available for the PC.
The email stated,
''Given the recent and unfortunate news that Modern Warfare 2 will not have dedicated servers, we have had no decision but to cancel all pre-orders for the game. With the lack of a dedicated server for MW2, game server providers such as ourselves will be unable to provide services for this game to the community and we have therefore removed the game from our website.
Should Infinity Ward decide to provide dedicated server support at some point in the future, we will contact you regarding this service becoming available again.''

Dedicated server? You mean like... what I don't speak intergame language. I read the others threads on it but I don't understand what a dedicated server is. Is that the multiplayer option? So it's only singleplayer?
Basically it means it'll be up to the end-user to control their multiplayer experience. IW just gives you an option to host Multiplayer now, that's it. There's no tournaments or 3rd party moding maps to play against officially. You'll have to find some really kind folks who host low-lat servers on their own (usually clans) for you play on.
EDIT: Argh, that came out wrong. I mean to say you need to have good luck finding a Matchmaking game with low-lat people that run it on. You can't server browse or anything like that.

Ya, no server browsing and stuff. No favorite server? No awesome lag free servers? No clan meeting places. No mods? No competitive play?Aleksandrov wrote...

E-Sports and Clanservers were the 2 things that kept MW1 alive over the last years, i can't believe that they want to force a console-like matchmaking system into pc multiplayer.

Us PC gamers apparently will be getting matchmaking, like console gamers have. That is something many do not want.

Because dedicated servers and modding are some of the things that seperate PC gaming from Console gaming. Because we already have dedicated servers in many games and what is the point in taking a step backwards to have matchmaking. Because it is something that many enjoy. Because if PC gamers wanted to play a game the way console gamers play it they might have become a Console gamer by now. Now not all agree with this I suppose, but I am refering to me at least.Nanvk wrote...
What makes PC gaming so special that they should have dedicated servers well on the rest of the platforms they are using a matchmaking style?

The no dedicated servers thing has been reported by many gaming websites and was cofirmed via podcast by the MW2 community manage and confirmed via Infinity Ward forums. It is confirmed.T7nowhere wrote...
IF this is true then I won't buy MW 2 and I was looking forward to it. I guess I'll stick to CoD4 and BF2. Match making services suck **s. The appeal for me is to play coop with friends not a bunch of random strangers. I won't even Play CoD4 with out friends it's just no fun.

Do you realize that MW2 isn't P2P like torrent downloads? Actually, IW is going to host all public games on their own servers while for a private game you will be FORCED to host it on a LISTENSERVER. Anyone who has played a fps would know that listenservers generally lead to a poor online experience because of lag (internet and server side). Its a simple fact that few PC owners have a PC powerful enough to process all information from at least 9 to 11 other users which running the game itself. Plus most PC owners don't have a connection good enough, specifically upload speeds high enough, to satisfactorally run a MP server.Syrellaris wrote...
Well fact is that P2P is simply faster then Dedicated servers, however Dedicated servers are preferred for several reasons. One of them being customization of the games server.

It's not a matter of being special. It's a matter of common sense. PC FPS gaming is an altogether different experience than playing on a console and I am not refering to the mouse and keyboard. What I am refering to is the quality of the MP experience. Dedicated servers has always been an option for PC FPS gaming, it's the best option to provide the most lag free gaming expereince. Most experienced FPS gamers can tell the difference between 100 ms of lag and 20 ms of lag. This difference, which may seem small, is quite significant and is often the difference between certain shots registering as a hit or a miss. This isn't only a problem of competitive gaming but most casual gamers are concious of their ping, as it greatly affects results in the game.Nanvk wrote...

There seems to be a different culture of gamers between console and pc gamers. I cannot speak for console gamers so I won't but as far as PC gamers they always try to get the best gaming experience (much like console gamers do) but the achieve this in different ways then console gamers. PC gamers often upgrade different components of their computer to enhance their experience, anything from a mouse, video card to a sound card. This carries over to the game itself where in order to have the best experience there many gamers customize their game through configuration files, as well as determining the best server(s) that give them the best ping.
This matchmaking style effectively denies PC gamers the option to optimize their gaming experience (ie. no dedicated servers). If on the other hand the matchmaking style was used akin to the l4d matchmaking style which allows gamers to have dedicated servers no one would really care about matchmaking. Some pc gamers might even welcome matchmaking.
