Ok guys after revising my calculations a bit after my 150 words per post was deemed to excessive. I've gone down to an average of 50 words per post, which I think is a fairly good number. I'm still going to keep my original calculation of 2 months to catch up to the Tali thread by just assuming a person is reading for 8 hours a day which is in the realm of possibility.



However this reply isn't on that issue. I've now determined the amount of time you would need to spend reading in order to "catch up" with the Tali thread if you started at the beginning.



So you could theoretically (with the revised 50 words per post number) read the entire Tali thread from start to finish if you dedicated more than 14 hours 13 minutes and 12 seconds a day every day to reading the Tali thread.



If you just read for that amount then you would be constantly playing catch up, and if you read more than that you would be able to eventually reach the end of the thread, the amount of time you put in is how quickly you'd finish.



So the Taliarity has not technically hit yet, although the concept is very much like the speed of light. In theory it is possible to achieve FTL speeds but in reality it appears that it would be very difficult or near impossible.

I'm kind of sad because earlier in this thread we were really getting somewhere.



I'll tell you why I post over at the Tali thread. Because its a group of like minded people who like the same character as I do. I can socialize with them, I can speak about really whatever I want. I grow to consider many people over there friends and we have some great discussions. We've got some weird and nasty people but so does anything with as large a following as we have. To everyone who's had a bad experience with the thread. I'm sorry but you should give it a second chance, most of the stuff we do is in the name of fun anyway. Most of the conversations are just people having fun, and isn't that what video games and their communities are all about? The guys over there are really great, so give peace a chance, give us a chance, we're part of the community too remember (well those of us who live in the US are, except people in Florida and New York). If liking a fictional character really bothers you then just remember that's its all glory to bioware for making us care so much about one character.

I would be saying this about the Miranda thread but it is a given that they care more about sex than personality, and thus my comments are meaningless.  Tali is a character that has personality and who is physically separated from sex yet people still want to talk about it like it is appropriate.  

And for your information I suffer from a mental disorder that makes me prone to just what I am condemning.  In fact, that is why I am condemning it.  Because I have a perspective that says that it is inappropriate.

Believe me, I know the difference between creepy and bad.  I have had a friend who grew poppies for the sole purpose of making Opium but he was the most honorable and likable person I've known in the last eight years.  Does doing drugs make him bad? No, and neither does making sexual jokes, of which I am no stranger.  It still makes you creepy and I still wouldn't want to be caught in a dark alley with you if I had another, more likable option.  

And no, I've never done drugs, but I've been forced together with people who have, as well as people who had sex at age 13 and alcoholics at age 9.  I've had a messed up childhood in a nutshell.

I think what he's saying Emil is that there is nothing wrong with admiring something that is attractive, after all even non-sexual objects can be attractive (a rose for instance).

However what I think he's saying is focusing on a certain thing about someone/something until it becomes a fetish is wrong if that person or thing cannot or will not reciprocate anything back to you.

I like Tali's character, maybe a little too much, I'm a huge nerd anyway, I collect warhammer 40k, can tell you all about the PzKwpf V pather battle tank. I play video games most of the day.
Am I creepy? Maybe, but I like Panther tanks, I like 40k, and I like Tali and my friends don't think I'm going to rape them.

Dude, did I say sexual offender?  You read my other post, why would you think I meant that?  I wouldn't want to be with anyone like that in a dark alley because a dark alley exacerbates a feeling of helplessness, making having someone undress you with their eyes extremely creepy.  Also, did I say you undress people with your eyes?  No, I didn't.  In fact, I haven't said anything about you personally at all.  You put yourself in that group.  

I never said that any one person was creepy.  I said that anyone who engages in talking about sex with a character that can't physically have sex with you is creepy.  Whether you fit in that group or not can only be judged by you, I know nothing about you.

and Miranda at a shocking 30 posts per hour.

This means that if this thread continues at our current rate, all other character threads besides Tali's will be eating our dust .

You're really cryptic you know that? Anyway, yes I have thought about sex with Tali before, mostly joking around with people in a non-serious manner. Refer to my above posts for more info.

Close, but what i am really saying is that it is fine to admire someone's physical form, as long as you care more about their personality.  People who care more about someone's sexual qualities are creepy.  And spending a couple hours making sure Tali's breasts or ass are enlarged in a picture bely any argument you have about caring more about their personality.

Well Guardian I fantasize about Scarlett Johansson sometimes. In my real life as a regular joe, I don't have a chance in hell of physically having sex with her. So I don't see what is the big difference of me talking about how hot I think Scarlett Johansson is with my friends while someone else may talk about how hot they think Tali is with their friends. After all it's not like I'd obsess over it, but I can appreciate the beauty and what I fantasize about has no bearing on how well adjusted I am to society, my actions within that society dictate how well adjusted I am.
