Arent most men that way?
Which means most men are creepy, yes.
Forgive me if I'm taking you out of context here, but if you believe what you say, and for the record, according to your criteria, you're correct. Why does the Tali thread get held to a higher standard? Men everywhere are creepy by your standards, and people on the internet have the anonymity to act even creepier than they do in every day life. This is in no way exclusive to one specific thread.
It sounds to me like you have a complaint with human nature in general, not the Tali thread.
I wouldn't say I am holding them to a higher standard. All I said was that they are creepy, at least some of them. Maybe I feel that they are held to a higher standard because Tali isn't a sex symbol. She isn't like Miranda, her main draw for me is that I love her character and her entire backstory. In ME1 she was the singlemost effective squadmate to take into combat. In ME2 she and Garrus have the most realistic romantic relationships. I guess it bothers me to see such a deep character get dragged through the mud (IMO).
Well that seems to be the major reason then. In your opinion, one LI is more intended to elicit a so called "creepy" response. So in a way, you are holding the Tali thread to a higher standard, based on your personal opinion that Tali's character was meant for a deeper relationship.
That's all opinion, and perfectly fine, but you do have to look at all the facts. The large fanbase skews the numbers. If 25% of 100 Miranda fans, and 10% of 500 Tali fans fall into the creepy category, does that necessarily mean Tali's fans are creepier because they have more?
The reverse is true as well. More people like Tali for her personality than all other LI's for that reason combined. You have to at least factor in the good side.
