I try to care less about the body and more about the mind.  I think physical attraction is important but should be a secondary concern, especially when talking to someone you aren't trying to start a relationship with.

I value character, too. But it's wrong to call others lesser because they find others attractive.

I never said lesser.  Did you see my post about my Opium growing friend?  If you haven't you should read it. Page 14 or 15.

I would not call "creepy" high praise.

And I wouldn't call it thinking lesser of them.  People are multifaceted things, a murderer may love kittens and a Doctor may kill patients.  No person can be judged by one aspect of their personality.  It is just stupid to do that.  This isn't torturing dogs or molesting children creepy, this is human nature creepy.  It is something you acknowledge and then move past as you build an opinion about somebody.

Which means most men are creepy, yes.

Forgive me if I'm taking you out of context here, but if you believe what you say, and for the record, according to your criteria, you're correct.  Why does the Tali thread get held to a higher standard?  Men everywhere are creepy by your standards, and people on the internet have the anonymity to act even creepier than they do in every day life.  This is in no way exclusive to one specific thread.

It sounds to me like you have a complaint with human nature in general, not the Tali thread.

I wouldn't say I am holding them to a higher standard.  All I said was that they are creepy, at least some of them.  Maybe I feel that they are held to a higher standard because Tali isn't a sex symbol.  She isn't like Miranda, her main draw for me is that I love her character and her entire backstory.  In ME1 she was the singlemost effective squadmate to take into combat.  In ME2 she and Garrus have the most realistic romantic relationships.  I guess it bothers me to see such a deep character get dragged through the mud (IMO).

Well that seems to be the major reason then.  In your opinion, one LI is more intended to elicit a so called "creepy" response.  So in a way, you are holding the Tali thread to a higher standard, based on your personal opinion that Tali's character was meant for a deeper relationship.

That's all opinion, and perfectly fine, but you do have to look at all the facts.  The large fanbase skews the numbers.  If 25% of 100 Miranda fans, and 10% of 500 Tali fans fall into the creepy category, does that necessarily mean Tali's fans are creepier because they have more?

The reverse is true as well.  More people like Tali for her personality than all other LI's for that reason combined.  You have to at least factor in the good side.

Whether you like it or not, every character has a fanbase, and every fandom has people who would like to have sex with said character. You can't change that, to even try would be foolish, and to argue against it would be idiotic. I find it just as shallow to try and place yourself above others because you're placing your own standards as correct and just while accusing those of others to be weak.

Well I wasn't expecting THAT.

It's not fair to compare Kane and Jack. We both know they're on completely different levels.

I never factored it out, I just didn't include it in the discussion because it wasn't relevant.  We were talking about why some tali fans are creepy, and saying that some aren't is meaningless.  That's like talking about the physics of colors and pointing out that the paint is green.  It is known that the paint is green, what is not known is why it is not blue.

We weren't talking about Miranda, we were talking about Tali, and yes, they are still creepy.  All I'm saying is that wanting to have sex with a character just because they are there is creepy.  I typically don't hold others accountable based on what I hold myself accountable because that would be cruel.  I'm not holding myself above others, just saying that they are creepy.  My saying that should mean as little as my saying that you are easily angered.  It doesn't say anything about you as a person.

As I female, it seems far less creepy to me when a guy is attracted to a character based on her personality as opposed to her wildly marketed ass-ets.

It isn't completely irrelevant.  If we're talking about a specific group, ignoring the good majority and focusing on the bad minority isn't usually a good move.

My point though is that by your standards, yes some Tali fans will be creepy.  Your standards for creepiness are ridiculously high, which you seem to know because you agreed that most males fall into the category.

I'm mearly defending the Tali fans that saying we're no different than any other group.  Although if you're holding us to a higher version of your impossible standard, there's really nothing more I can say.

Guys I think we can all agree on one thing.....

Glancing at a woman's (or man's really) "features" quickly and thinking about it isn't creepy but normal human behavior.

Staring down and focusing on said features with jaw dropped IS however quite creepy.

I agree, as it was said in Sienfeld:   "A womans cleavage is like the sun, you take a quick peek at it but you dont stare at it".

But you're doing exactly that. You find it creepy therefore it is creepy, it's not a good arguemnet, it's just an opinion. Opnions become less of an opnion and more of a statement when you keep bringing it up. There is little difference between holding yourself above others and putting those you believe is wrong down, that's the strawman's arguement. And saying someone is easily angered does appear you are saying something about the person, whether you realize it or not.

The answer to the original question is no, it is not possible to catch up to that thread, even the fastest reader in the world couldn't read faster than the tali thread moves, even the regulars don't 'catch up' in the conventional sense of the word, it moves ridiculously fast!

And don't be horrid to the tali folk, One or two of them are creepy, the rest just like Tali, no different than some other obsessions ;)

Seriously though, you'll never catch up unless you speed read like hell (which would actually have its own level of epic to it).
