I was pondering the concept and philosophy behind the Bazaar today and thought I would bring up a few concerns of mine. I like the initial idea, basically rewarding those loyal and recent fans of bioware games, but there are many loop holes to get past such loyalty. The quizzes for one basically undermine the registration process thus allowing anyone to participate and garner a decent amount of points. The twitter posts? Basically spam your answer 8 billion times and rely upon a random drawing. Most other aspects would allow anyone who has a computer to participate, therefore, this bazaar does not really strike me as something for the fans, but rather an ad campaign. Everyone is going to get the base amount of points for registration because of the quizzes, so the only real people who will pull ahead are those that spam twitter or the internet with their unique url. I personally do not have time to farm the internet for 50 unique people everday to click my url, and there are already people posting work arounds to click multiple links in a single action.
My claim is this: The bazaar appears to be a reward for those loyal fans, and bioware over the past fifteen years, but the ones to truly succeed are the people who can stay glued to their computer all day.

They couldn't do the contest at all without this - most US states require an ability to gain full entry to a contest without purchase.HookersandBlow wrote...

If that is the case Rive, then perhaps they could have created something a bit more challenging. The way the current system is set up now is that you can get a big burst of points, and those who use spam tactics will become the victorious at the end. Where exactly is the designated thread for this? Off-topic relation to a contest, seems like a perfect place to me.

He's probably gone for the day. But he'll expect the announcement thread is the proper place to discuss opinions about the event. Least that's what I've seen in the last 45981374614 locks....

It is most definitely an ingenious marketing campaign. However, it is something that *can* also be fun for those who don't take it to seriously.
You know that one dad at the little league games who's flippin out because the kids are terrible? It's just for fun dad, chillax.

I like overzealous father analogy. Consider it more as a man sitting on a park bench wondering why he has an n7 hoody rather than a new computer. I like to see skill rewarded rather than spam.

I think the whole spamming links is abrilliant idea on BW's part, but most people are spamming the links on this forum only, lol.

Indeed Baskervore, and there is some firefox extension that can click multiple links at once. I like the contest, and I hope to reap some benefits beyond a Garrus poster, but it appears to be structured in such a way to reward mindless trolling rather than people with a knowledge of their criteria.
