After trying some other classes for my first insanity run(just finished my first run on Veteran as a Vanguard) I started to miss Charging and Shotguning hapless mooks :P

Anyways I'm trying decide on a few things:

Here's my Build so far

Shockwave 2
Pull Field
Heavy Charge
Destroyer
*Inferno/Tungsten/Heavy Warp*

Trying to decide on which ammo to use

Also trying the Adept I concluded that my teammates can cover for the squad(Zaeed for Distruptor and Jacob/Grunt for Incendiary) and trying to get Squad Cryo won't be necessary...for me at least

Also after trying out the Claymore on my Veteran run, I don't like the one shot then reload aspect of it. So I decided I on getting a different weapon ether a Sniper Rifle or Assault Rifle. After seeing this: www.youtube.com/watch I'm leaning towards Sniper Rifles right now...

Lastly which shotgun would help better for insanity, the Eviscerator or the Scimitar?

Hm. Looks like a solid build. What I tend to do is forgo both Shockwave and Pull and just take Slam. Slam can be used for Warp Explosions and the timing is quite easy, even in real-time. That frees you up for:

Inferno Ammo: 4

Squad Cryo Ammo: 4

Charge: 4

Shockwave: 1

Pull: 0

Destroyer/Champion: 4

Slam: 4

I think Tunsgten might be a bit redundant because you have Incendiary Ammo. Warp Ammo is always nice but then makes the build dependent upon getting Pull and your build has been somewhat Neanderthal-ed because Shockwave tends to be better for Jack and not Shepard.

I took the Evi, but it all really depends on which weapon you are most comfortable with as they all do good damage and worrying too much about DPS takes from the feel of the game, in my opinion.

In the end, it's all a matter of how you personally play the game.

Eh, most vanguards look the same at endgame.

Insofar as builds go, it's probably more practical to discuss which powers to put points in first.

I'd recommend Heavy Charge asap, then passive powers (class & ammo) .. 'cos you'll mostly be charging.

Pull field is nice to have, but working up to it can be costly. I'd put the points in a bonus power instead, and retrain them into pull field once you have enough.

What's your opinion on Destroyer and Champion?

I prefer Champion for the cooldown bonus and I like the Para-Rene bonus. With the right upgrades and Champion, a Vanguard can get his Charge to roughly a 4.3sec. cooldown.

Mechanically, Champion is generally more useful. After all, charging more = win.

I find Destroyer's bonuses to be somewhat redundant. Sure, your ammo power and weapon damage is higher. So ... same # of shots to take 'em down.

melee shoulders and then it's all of little value. health stuff if you want survival, ammo pack if you're running out, weapon dmg if you fancy it etc

I generally find the health stuff to be of little use, even on Insanity. I'd say go with damage boosting gear.

just finished a Vanguard Insanity run myself!

Pull was never a fit for me, so the character was more focused on Heavy Charge, Improved Shockwave. . . what else was there? oh yes! AREA REAVE! armor was always a pain for me to get through, and reave made the shortest work of it. Then picked Squad Inferno ammo and did what i could with cryo. . . and there's probably other stuff that slips the mind. . . always picked Champion.

:D but am not much of a stat person, just go with what's most fun~

Cerberus Armor or whatever. The one that came with the Eviscerator.

As for shotguns, it's all about what feels right to you. Personally, I love the Evi and Claymore pretty much equally. Just depends on my mood.

If you can get the reload trick down, the Claymore is insane. I just took it through NG+ (on Insanity) and fell in love with it all over again.

The Evi is equally as deadly but feels completely different and requires much more precision when it comes to aiming. Grab the Kuwashii Visor and make those headshots count.

The Scimitar is quite different. You won't be one-shotting anything, but it's also a lot more forgiving due to its large clip size.

Also, don't forget the Katana. It's always regarded as the underdog, but it's not bad at all. It does very well against shields and barriers. I used it for most of an entire playthrough. With Inferno Ammo it does surprisingly well against armor too.

In a nutshell, try all four. They're all pretty much even in kill speed, but they handle very differently. One is not better than the others. The difference in dps is negligible. How it handles in your hands is what really matters.

It keeps things fresh :)

The same goes for build and armor choice too. Heavy Charge and Champion are widely regarded as the "required" abilities for success. The rest is up to you. I like having Pull and Slam to set up combos, for entertainment, and because they have stupid short cooldowns. I'd rather be Charging than waiting on a Reave or Shockwave cooldown, but that's just me.

Regarding armor, the health and shield bonuses basically make no difference on Insanity. Melee shoulders and weapon damage are what I go for. The rest? I just take what looks cool.

Just like the shotguns it's all personal preference. Play around. Have some fun. I respec all the time. There is oh so much eezo out there.

Can't go wrong with squad cryo, couple that with area reave.. I freakin love it. Nothing like punting a frozen krogan across the room
