This concept is not bad but it can be improved.

The badass realist tough guy is the role you can give yourself by supporting Cerberus. Also it makes us feel smarter than those naive paragons. Cerberus have tons of cool things like secrets, ruthlessness and cynisism that makes us more like the realy manly macho men we are not in real life.

The thorian creepers and husks are perfect cannon fodder for Cerberus army. They look far more cool and dangerous than we can ever hope to become in real life.

Kittens, yes it takes a reeeealy cool guy to use moraly questionable methods like that. But it totaly ruins Shepards badass style if he sends kittens at the reapers! Doing that could make us look, dare I say the words, weak or insecure!

How about painting all cats black and give them a emo style? And perhaps some spikes, red eyes and other badass looking things? If these kittens looked more manly it would probably work very well.
