There was a kid from my elementary school who was from Brazil. His name was Bruno, and he was an ass.

I...  also know a Bruno that is an ass :D

dude, i also know a Bruno, he is also an ass.

as for the topic at hand,

I am Portuguese (by Birth, grew up in South Africa) and I do tech support for Brasil in Ireland (talk about globalisation hey) I have to say, they are the most easy going people I have ever had the pleasure of working for/with. I've worked in customer support for a lot of different cultures and I can honestly say that I never wanna to tech support for any other nation. Dont get me wrong though, easy going dont make em lazy! on the contrary they are very hard working (the ones I know, I am of course generalising)

Going to Brasil next Jan hopefully for my Friends wedding in the state of Paraná
cannot wait! :o

I don't know much about Brazil, It seems like a beautiful country though.

However, being Swedish, I must bring up the magnificent Cristo Redentor statue atop the Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro.

A Swedish company, based in Limhamn in the southernmost part of Sweden, was a supplier of cement (and subsequently Swedish limestone) used for making the concrete to the foundation. If I have understood correctly it was Swedish sailors who started calling the monument "Limhamnsjesus" (which in Swedish simply means "Jesus from Limhamn"). This has since grown to a ****-and-bull story in Sweden. So now, if you should ask a random Swedish person on the street, I bet that 99% would answer that the whole statue is made from limestone from Sweden. It's sad really. But I guess the sailors are to blame, right? Them and their exaggerated stories. =]

Wow, that's awesome!

Capitalism has its problems, but seeing that kind of situation in globalisation and how it can make people from different parts of the world be together is nice. I so want to travel around the world. :D

Carnaval is portuguese for Carnival =)

You think Brazilians are good F1 drivers? If you could see us driving on the streets here you'd know what that is so! We're crazy!!! Some of them quit the streets and move on to a track for racing!

Portuguese language has a very tricky articles system, as any latin language. Foreigners, particularly english and german speakers are very oftenly tricked by it.

O means masculine while A means feminine and they tend to always switch them, making funny phrases.

"Acuda mãe!" means Help me, mother! and has no article in it but they can't see anything starting with an A that they automatically switch to an O and then it becomes "O Cu da Mãe!" which means.. err "The mother's azzhole!"

My wife is Mexican (Yes North American I know) and we both work on the campus of York University. We're members of the Latin American Society so we know Brazilians, Chileans, Argentinians, Peruvians, Colombians etc etc.

I heard about the big Japanese community in Brazil from one of our Brazilian friends, and I believe there are quite a few Japanese in Argentina, too...

lol the BR? BR?  stuff looks familiar...the Brazilians I met in that particular online game, were very vocal, would not take no NAO for an answer.    hehe

They figured because I played a healer, that I was SUPPOSED to go with them whereever they went ..lol.

Finally it got so bad (I'm very independent I do my own thing)...that every time they click spammed me, I would challenge them to a duel.   hehehehe

They must have thought I was nuts..they finally quit bugging me..:D

I Hate Brasilians in online games. Used to play WoW but quit because all brasilian were jerks there. I tried to talk some sense but gave up. They think they own the game, bunch of low life loosers.

Well, not all Brazilians are jerks in Online games. But WOW, I'd say everyone is a jerk in that particular online game! I had a good time in Lineage II, but on free servers. Monthly fee is against my "religion". Specially after 5 years online in multiplayer NWN. Many game buddies in those days and well, they didn't know I was a foreigner - or that English wasn't my primary language -  until I said it. Guess that my accent is very soft! =)

US and Brit servers only because I can't RP in portuguese... it sounds just too weird for one that loves reading Tolkien in the original. It's an awesome language to write songs, poetry and elaborated texts though... Portuguese, I mean.

Well I know Brazil! But I'm Portuguese.

I'd take profit from the fact that this topic may attract people that speak Portuguese and leave here the link from the Portuguese Speaking group I've created. D:
