For the people who watched DS9 actively when it was originally aired or re-runs currently being shown on various channels around the world, were you satisfied with the shows final ending? i.e. Benjamin Sisko jumping down a cave of fire than buggering off to magic land leaving his wife and son to hang around until whenever he decides to come back.

I thought it was a pretty bad ending to an otherwise, top notch show.

Pretty awful. I don't think I remember the TNG ending tho.

TNG "All good things..."  had a superb ending, very complicated episode, really well written.

I honestly don't remember the endings. That was a long time ago... aired on Sky Channel in Europe when I was a youngin'. Regardless of some sputnik ending, you all must admit that the rest of the series were simply epic pieces of writing.

Loved the TNG ending very much. The DS9 ending was very disappointing. My second favorite trek series except for the ending.

The ending was far from the highlight of the series but it was by no means bad. DS9 had such a rich tapestry of story threads that they could have made a whole other season just wrapping things up. Instead we get about 30 minutes. And it was still damned good.

Never was much of a fan of DS9, but it wasn't a terrible show. The ending wasn't amazing, however.

The last couple seasons of DS9 were a great disappointment to me. Once they decide Sisko was a messiah and Gul Dukat was his exact EVIL opposite, I gave up. And the holodeck episodes... for any of the Star Trek series. Lazy.

It's not the ending but the journey that counts. Compare the charcters from DS9 in the last episode to their charcters from the shows begining and see the growth. Where as TNG charcters are exactly the same in the final episode as they are in the pilot, you could watch any show from TNGs run and not know what season it is, well except for the makeup and uniforms. DS9 is still one of the finest TV shows ever.

As a final episode it was pretty terrible, not as terrible as say...Battlestar Galactica or Angel, but still bad.

Woah there Sloth!

I jest, but personally i love the Battlestar Galactica finale, best final episode ever, well except for the final episode of Quantum Leap (but each to their own, all art and culture is subjective), but yes final episodes do generally suck, as do final books in a series, final films etc.

I just saw it for the first time a few weeks ago, and I have to say, it was pretty solid with the exception of the 'going to magic land' as the OP put it. That was pretty lame.

Heh. I actually rather liked the ending to Angel. Way more than the ending to Buffy. I liked the ambigous fighting the good fight nature of it. Except for Wesley. That was fun.

I had a love/hate relationship with BSG. Mostly on the side of hate. They had a plan for about two seasons. Then they were just making **** up.

I have no problem with Ben going to "magic land", the scene when Kassidy has a vision of him is quite touching and she tells Jake she was with his father *wipes away tear*... but the execution was pretty poor with the fight in Fire cave, and the pacing was off with the rest of the episode and the end of the war with the Dominion. Sisko storyline needed it's own episode if you ask me... like a coda, or an epilogue.

I liked the Angle ending. A kinda of reap what you sow. There is no real end to the fight type of deal.

I am not a violent person but... I think I could do some real bodily harm to those writers and creators for the pile of poo the BSG turned into.

DS9 being up there with TNG in my book the ending was very lackluster and needed to be stretched out more.

Some parts of the "magic" were cool.
When the Prophets wipe an entire force of Dominion ships coming from the wormhole (that could potentially end the war once and for for everybody)  it's pretty awesome, esp when Gul Dakat starts freaking out  that only the defiant comes out.
