I saw this vid today looking for some interesting news. This is probably the worst thing I've ever seen in gaming. Makes me sick to be honest that some pervs would actually think this is entertaining. Warning: it is somewhat graphic (there is no nudity or violence though)

http://www.cnn.com/2...dex.html?hpt=C2

I want to know your thoughts.

Personally, it is the most vile, degrading thing I've ever seen. At the same time, the only good I could see actually come out of this is if it actually kept would be sexual predators from attacking people. I've never thought of any game to be so extreme that it truly doesn't deserve to be legal. Violence is no problem in my opinion (I did think some executuions in AVP were graphic but still okay for the public) as well as sex, but this is just something outside of that. This is pure trash.

Mods: feel free to lock if you feel it is innapropriate or anything gets out of hand

Yeah, I'd much rather having people do this in the virtual world, but it still is disturbing.

Rapelay is no worse than other material from the country, in fact, there is much worse (legal) stuff.

A horrible idea for a video game would be re-releasing  two multiplayer maps along with three other multiplayer maps and assume people are stupid enough to pay $15. As i... Oh.

1. Rape-Lay and it's contraversy happened 2 years ago. Glad to know CNN has such cutting edge news.

2. "You can download it for free off the internet!" Apparently, they also just learned about software pirating.

It's absolutely revolting, but it's also free speech and no one has any business trying to censor it.
After all, ever heard of "I do not approve of what you say, but I will fight to the death to defend it."? Regardless, trying to go 'that's Japan for you' is like a Japanese (or any other non-American, really) person looking at Leisure Suit Larry or some fat dude eating five-hundred burgers and going 'that's America for you'. You people do realize that even Japan doesn't approve of this game?

This.
Not to mention that Japan does have laws in place to try to stop this (or at least to shut the media up). Oh, and everything annoys Women's Rights Groups.

More than 2 years actually, given that Rapelay was released in 2006, Old news is old.

Old news, but that's Japan for you. They have strange tastes when it comes to porn.

For example a strange obsession with giving female characters wangs.

Because it exists and happens to be from Japan, all Japanese people are into it.

This is nothing new. The only reason it's popping up now is the Barbara Streisand Effect; some big-shot news corporation got wind of it, and now suddenly it's big news.
/eyeroll
I get so sick of the argument that things like this 'encourage the violent sexual behaviour' in those that play the game. That is and absolutely ridiculous argument to put forward to mature adults. There's no proof -- not a shred of conclusive evidence, nor remotely plausible evidence -- that playing games of a violent or sexual nature will encourage the player to act out said fantasies in the real world.
Children on the other hand, different story. They require responsible parenting, making sure they know what sorts of activities their children engage in when on the internet. It's not a safe place.
The content of the game is indeed despicable, and I wouldn't enjoy playing it. Someone else might though, and that's completely up to them. Better to indulge their fantasies in a fantasy world than in the real world, where there are consequences for such things.

Right about now I'd quesiton you, but to be honest, I don't care much for that level considering it was quite possibly the most idiotic 'shocking' level ever basically inserted there to stir controversy.

What kind of person was sitting, most likely high and suddenly thought:

"Oh my God! This is a great idea everyone will buy this!"
