I don't care Tali looks good period. If I don't see the hair involved, but everything else seems really nice. Remember Grunt said quarians bodies are kind of hard. That means their skin is hard. I would think a little more grip on the skin and maybe loose the hair part. Then I think she would be beauitful and perfect in every way. The implants on her head are prefect because Tali tells us about them.

Hi folks,

I'm sure by now many of you have seen the "Tali Unmasked" Fan art which absolutely blew the socks off most who saw it. I decided to make a nice little Forum Display Picture from it for people to use around teh interwebs.

Posted Image

Or a direct link here.

I hope it's useful to you fans, and if the artist would like to reveal themselves so we can gawp in amazement, please do

EDIT: Thanks to Aubrey, we can now credit this picture to an artist named Vespaz. In addition, the direct link now leads to a picture of epic proportions.

Thankyou Aubrey and SUPERTHANKS to Vespaz.

PS: Here's the original for those that haven't seen it in it's full screen glory. I just wish there was one big enough to be my wallpaper.

EDIT: Direct link is bigger: here is the bigger version.

Batarians have, lips, eyes, eyelids and ears, they also have more human looking bodies than the quarians.
Drell have lips, eyes, eyelids and much more human looking bodies.
Yet both these species look very alien, they're still humanoid but in no way are they as human as the picture the OP posted.

I agree with this 100%.

No doubt the picture is a great picture, it's far better than anything I could hope to draw, but it's just not alien enough.  Quarians should look humanoid to a point, but they should still be alien enough to look Quarian.  It's a pretty picture, but the end result in my eyes looks like a human girl wearing wires and purple face paint.

Is this better for quarians

Too Human... was a very very bad game. It's also my opinion of the picture, but it is very well done.

I could only go off of what I know... quarans have human-like faces but not human-like ears, and the males seem to have a larger area behind their head and a less human face.

Based on the Geth, I always imagined Quarians looking more like anthropomorphic armadillos. So yeah, I guess my problem with this fan art is that it is "too human". If BioWare is going to have the Quarian's look like humans, they should at least look like humans that have been trapped in suit their whole lives. So they shouldn't have things like hair, since that makes no sense.

But hey, that's just how I view the Quarians. Everyone thinks about them differently.

Looks good but a bit too human. I always imagined Quarians looking more like Kaminoans from Star Wars since they appear to have slightly longer necks than humans.

Kaminoan necks are more than a little longer than humans' Posted Image
I took that into account when I made the pic,  I set the "Stretch Neck" dial as far as I could without making it look stupid Posted Image

Right not as long as Kaminoans but longer than humans, but the face I also imagined been closer as well. Very good either way and would be perfectly happy if thats what she looked like.

Edit: Was talking about the original picture.

...(A little addition: the quarians and turians legs are not similar at all, except the numbers of their fingers. The quarians have normal hips and tights. Only the lower leg, under the knee is curved. And after that have normal feet. Turins legs are on the side of the hips, like of the reptiles. And they stand on their toes, not on the feet like quarians (and humans). So except of the fingers and the curved shin, quarians have way more human legs than turians, krogans or salarians - to say the 3 fingered species. )...

Quarians don't have curved shins.  Imagine how often the bones would break if they did.  That's the best reason to not think they might.  Take a look at all the terrestrial animal skeletons you want and see how man have curved leg bones...:D

Quarians are semi-digitigrade:  their "heel" is actually equivalent to the ball of the human foot.  Their "calf" ends under the back of the leg guard.  Count the joints and you will see.

I figure the artists put the curvy looking leg guard on to smooth things out so their legs wouldn't look quite so insect-like or alien.  The leg structure is quite similar to the Vorcha really.  At least that's how it looks to me

Good picture though.  The good non-human colors left would be green and red, both on earthier tones.  Yellow and orange would be too bright and Asari are blue.  Asari would stick out like a sore thumb in a natural quarian environment.

Maybe add some light stripes on the cheeks or tweak the cheekbones?

Cute, but bat**** scary nonetheless.

Edit: Didn't quarians have no hair?

I hope they unmask Tali in ME3 and make her horribly ugly to look at.
That'll test just how much devotion Talimancers have for her.

I agree, and i could be considered a Talimancer. It would certainly make things more interesting. If an alien looks too human, especially an attractive human it just seems so b-grade to me, and destroys the illusion *cough*asari*cough* like something out of the original star trek.

Considering how different a lot of the species on earth look, the idea that an alien from halfway across the galaxy looks almost identical to humans is just too far fetched for my tastes, almost as bad as bringing someone back from the dead...sigh.

BTW i know that according to ME lore, Quarians are supposed to be aesthetically similar to humans, that doesn't mean that they have to look like hollywood super models. please Bioware, please don't go down the Avatar route and make the Quarians look like a 14 year olds wet dream.

Awesome art, definately the best tali i've seen.

The wrinkled/ridged skin and veins make her look old, but phenomonal detail nonetheless.

I like the original picture better, without the glowing eyes.

The white eyes make her look cold, and creepy, not inviting and friendly as her personality is. I know they look like they glow behind the mask, but frankly I think they only did that to improve her facial expressiveness. It is more important that she face match her personality, and I don't think that the glowing eyes do that.

Of all the scientific inaccuracies committed in this game, that would be one of the lesser ones.  All you need to do is look at a picture of her to see that she has curved shins.

Quarians are semi-digitigrade:  their "heel" is actually equivalent to the ball of the human foot.  Their "calf" ends under the back of the leg guard.  Count the joints and you will see.

I did and this is plainly false.  She is firmly plantigrade; her heel sits on the ground.  There are pictures of her standing on her tippy-toes, such as in the squad selection screen, but that isn't how she walks.

I very much like this bit of art. And considering what we have seen of Tali's facial structure its accurate, at the very least much more accurate than a great deal of some of the other concepts I've seen.

Blah! I will consider it ingame skins and render, till some official comes and confirm it. I'v seen much good fan made 3D art, which is expertly looking, but this is master craft!

Its made in Maya 3D with some retouching in photoshop :)

Close. When I was talking to him he said 3DStudioMax and photoshop... this is something he sent me when I asked and I thought you all would find it as awesome as I do:

This was a "shade" or diffuse rendering of the model when he was dealing with textures. Posted Imagefor those of you who seem to think the ingame model looked anything as beautiful or hi-poly as this you may want to take a look at the model again.
I love that he actually used the hair generation software in max.

Vespaz, is amazing.

With the book description and having seen Tali in-game, I think the phrase "too human" is a little uneducated. There have been a ton of arguements saying that she should look somewhat, if not exactly, like the picture so I won't go into that -I'm just saying I agree. Also I'll just throw out that I hope we do get to see Tali's face at some point.

Now the picture itself is excellently done. My only complaint is that the skin seems a little transparent. I get the pale look and it makes sense considering the suit-based life, but I don't like how visible the veins are. Beyond that, the picture is a masterpiece amongst fanart.

The books description simply says; "Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which include a thumb and an index finger, as well as three toes on each foot. Their ears or ear analogues differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear" (Ascension, p. 235). "

Now let me direct you to one of my earlier quotes.
