[Maria Caliban]

Imagine this: Commander Shepard is allowed to take any 10 people* for their squad in ME 3. From ME 1 or 2, former squad members or other NPCs you think would be good for the job.

What ten would you pick and why?

From looking at a strictly gameplay perspective the long range fighters (Legion, Garrus and Zaeed) tend to be very effective in combat. The engineers (Legion and Tali) also add a effective element to the battle. I omitted most of the light biotics because I find the stronger biotics more effective (with the exception of Miranda who is useful for bringing down the defenses of enemies). Mordin was left out because I do not find him useful in combat. Do not know much about Kasumi. I pick Liara and Jack over Samara/Morinth because I find their biotic set more powerful (though we do not really know about how Liara would transition), and I would take that over an extra AR member. Thane while ranged is also a light biotic and I have already three ranged fighters. I chose Grunt over Wrex because Grunt is more of a pure close quarters fighter than Wrex (Wrex also has light biotics). Kal'Reegar looks like he would be a mid range fighter and removing Samara opens up that possibility while at the end it is a toss up between a pure fighter in Ashley, a light-mid biotic in Kaiden (depending on how they would write his class) and a light biotic in Jacob. If I thought more about it I think I could easily cross off Jacob from that list because he is a close range fighter and I already have three of those.

EDIT:  Ah, I broke the chart omit my number 10 (Ashley/Kaiden/Jacob) because its undecided between those three characters.

Garrus - I really like this guy in both games a guy you can rely on .

Ashley - Excellent soldier, pretty well developed character.

Tali - Very useful engineer and also very loyal.

Grunt - A born fighter with lots of room for taking his character in any direction the writers choose.

Mordin - Just a well written excellent character, one of my favs. A character with a conscience.

Jack - I like the make up of the character, useful biotic.

Zaeed - One of my fav characters from ME2

Miranda - Very useful character and lots of room to further develop and or change her personality by the writers.

Samara - Everyone needs an asari

Thane - Suppose to be dieing but he can hang on a bit more. The Drell race as a whole are pretty interesting.

Miranda - Shep's 2nd in command, lots of ways for her character to grow yet, unfinished business with Cerberus.

Ashley - Best character in ME1, great soldier who deserves to be there at the end

Garrus - Been there since day 1, he HAS to be there at the end

Tali - Same reasons as Garrus

Aria - Lots of potential for character development, badass Asari matriarch

Wrex - Best. Krogan. Ever.

Mordin - He was just great, a brilliant character and solid in combat.

Legion - Lots of potential still, not around for long enough in ME2.

Thane - He will stay with Shepard until he cannot fight anymore, so he would be there in ME3 providing it takes place directly after ME2's conclusion.

Liara - Likely to be back, has a role to play yet. Would be cool to have 2 asari squaddies.
