Star Trek weapons and defenses are at least a couple of orders of magnitude stronger than anything Mass Effect has. Mass Effect is literally one of the weakest science fiction universes out there, right around Battlestar Galactica levels of firepower (and I'm talking the Ron Moore one, not the original).

Well, that's technically not true.
If you read the Codex Entry on the Thanix Hydromagnetic Cannon, it says it's a Turian weapon based on salvaged weapons from Sovereign.

I'm assuming this means these weapons are militarily viable for installation on Turian ships (and Alliance ships apparently, thanks to Garrus' connections).

I doubt the Turians would settle for developing a weapon as powerful as this and not installing it on every ship that they can.

Therefore, the Reapers aren't going to like what the Turians do when their armada attacks them.....
