I beg to differ further. How many of those people could actually bring their weaponry to fruition? Plus, armed civilian resistance with military grade weaponry like this is a free-ticket for saturation bombing the area, even by modern warfare-rules. Trust me, all those wack jobs know how to use their weapons (which is why I largely kept my mouth shut the entire time I was there).

Ah, but they're attacking London. And believe me, the states have nothing on that. Guns? Pfft. My grandmother lives in London, and there's a definite subculture of tough old women going on in that city.

New York is largely lacking in guns due to Bloomberg laws. But we're plenty full of crotchety old women. Scratch that, we're full of crotchety everything. (fact is we're rather known for that)
Plus, the Reapers are attacking Earth as a whole, not just London. The ME3 teaser just focuses on London.

Think about it: Bioware wanted to do an interrupt and there's almost no such thing as a violent paragon interrupt (exception being Gavin Archer).

They had two options, paragon or renegade. Paragon can't be it so renegade is all that's left.
