Yeah, ordinarily, I wouldn't trust Dark Horse to give me a concept sketch of a simple wooden spoon, i'd probably get a metal megadeath knife instead!
I used to read some of their comics that were based on other intellectual properties until I realized how badly they were butchering the source material.
Then I walked away and never looked back.

But I'm making an exception to that rule in this case, because I think BioWare are keeping them on a fairly short leash.
They seem to be more involved in the books and comics instead of simply giving someone a brief and saying "give me a comic or book, I don't care what is in it, as long as it has our logo on it!".

So, I'm assuming anything that is done relating to Mass Effect is canon.

I think female Turians is something the Devs struggled with for ages and couldn't get right, so they dropped the idea.
So if the comic book artists came up with a workable design, why wouldn't Bioware use it?

Besides, it's out there now, so there's no point in retracting it, since they've established what female Turian is and have to stick to it.

So you can't change the password 11 times in a day to get back to the old one?

Realistically we should expect a change here soon (computers are getting much better at trying loads of combinations than humans are at remembering them) so I wouldn't be surprised if they had been phased out completely by the time of Mass Effect though.
