I'm constantly confused by the implication of a characters combat abilities really at all relates to the Role-Playing aspect of any particular series.
Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but for everything I do the RPG is in the story, and how you can effect that story and change the outcomes depending on your choices. Choices you feel your character would make given their personality and ambitions.
How managing an inventory system, or giving a certain gun at all relates to your RP is beyond me. I could see if it Bioware initiated new dialogue based on the mods you've included in your gear, like "Burn baby, burn." if you have incendiary, or 'Shocking!" With disrupting ammo.
Maybe some one can explain this sufficiently to me, cause as it stands it just seems you want combat customization of your character rather then role playing changes.
Well, maybe you can check out
RPG Experience and Levels for some generic info. Personally, heavy character building and customization is something that I'm a big fan of, and I miss it from ME1 (yes, even the inventory parts). That said, I did love the combat changes made to ME2, and overall, ME2 is my favorite game of all time. (Previuosly, ME1 was my favorite game, and before that it was Chrono Trigger). But I still miss the extensive character building and customization.
