I think its at ~53% - 46% .....Bioware still winning

Oh and btw, did Bioware make Baldur's Gate, or did Blizzard?

I could have sworn that Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance was made by Blizzard. (Only Baldur's Gate game ive ever played)

*edit: I looked it up and Baldur's Gate was published by Vivendi Games (aka Blizzard) Just asked this question b/c on the DA:O homepage it said "From the makers of ........ Baldur's Gate"

From Wikipedia....

Looks like Snow Blind did the first and Black Isle did the second. Published by Interplay, which is a division of Vivendi I believe.

Yeah, and those games were just loosely based on the original Baldur's Gate games.

Baldur's Gate is a popular series of computer role-playing games that take place on Faerûn, the main continent from Dungeons & Dragons's Forgotten Realms campaign setting, set in the years following the cataclysmic Time of Troubles (1358 DR).
The original series, developed for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS by BioWare, includes Baldur's Gate (1998), Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast (expansion pack, 1999), Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (2000) and Baldur's Gate II: Throne of  Bhaal (expansion pack, 2001).

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance & Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II
The Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series was produced by BioWare's publisher Black Isle
Studios, a division of Interplay Entertainment. Although they take place in the Baldur's Gate rendition of the Forgotten Realms setting, they are not often regarded as a part of the Baldur's Gate series, as the plot is unrelated to previous games, and they were console-exclusive titles. These were not released for Windows and Macintosh platforms and were not created using BioWare's Infinity Engine. Interplay has announced intentions of releasing a third Dark Alliance game as well.[1]

Indeed. Very loosely. But, I actually enjoyed them somewhat. They weren't bad or anything. Just not great either...

I took a look at some of the match-up forums, and realized that I'd rather stay as far away as possible from the Escapist community. I firmly believe that their stupidity is contagious.

If you like Diablo hack 'n slash style then you'd like them. They were very much so. AD&D spells, rules, and settings with a Diablo gameplay system (button clicking, quick potions, 3/4 overhead view, etc.). Nothing original really but I remember seeing the water effects in the first one on PS2 and thinking, "WOW, that looks so REAL!!" Ran very very smooth graphically as I recall.

I just realized this competition is null and void. Any list of developers that fails to include Hironobu Sakaguchi's MistWalker Studio is automatically disqualified.

oh well, it would have been a good competition too, maybe next year..

Really? Maybe you really like one of their DS games, but as for their 360 games, Blue Dragon was fundamentally ordinary in every way and Lost Odyssey had a lot going for it but was held back by tired and repetitive gameplay.

Stellar Stone is not in the running, hell, I'd pick the devs of Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing over Zynga every day of the week.

At least there's some actual GAMEPLAY there.

mistwalker has not disbanded! I never played Blue Dragon because it looked like a child's game. Lost Odyssey is reason enough for MistWalker to be listed. Anyway, just my opinion, though people should really take a chill pill, no need to get hostile lol

actually Mistwalker's not disbanded at all. They're working on The Last Story for the wii at the moment.

I "chat" with the one handling their twitter account quite often, a very likable guy/lady (gender's unknown lol) too. It's one of the few official studio twitter accounts that actually keeps a nice dialogue with the rest of the world.

The validity of the competition is very much debatable for the inclusion of Zynga, a low-quality, low-budget developer that makes FREE games (while everyone else in the competition makes games you have to pay for), and that can directly reach every single user of theirs via facebook to prompt them to vote (and they did, that's how they chaught up to valve despite an initial gap of 3000 votes), and thanks to the ability to vote via facebook connect, it's literally 3 clicks away.
They're not peers of the other developers competing, and they have obvious advantages that should see them disqualified.
Thanks to those advantages they eliminated some very strong competitors like Infinity Ward, Square Enix and Rockstar. None of them should have been even nearly threatened by the likes of zynga.

At the moment Valve is losing (even if the gap is not big), to be honest i doubt their chances to win. Zynga can (and did) simply send direct messages to all their almost 50 million free users via facebook.

Also, I wouldn't discount the Bioware/Blizzard competition as won. At the moment the gap broadened a bit again compared to what we had this morning, but I don't put it beyond Blizzard to actually spam their fanboys directly inside WoW if they see they can't win legitimately. They're already using all three of their lame/spammy twitter accounts to try and plug.

I don't think he's even worthy of a response. Certain games need a brain to be appreciated. Obviously someone that would insult a company just because it's Japanese lacks quite a bit in that department.

I appreciate blizzard for making games with really great gameplay but despite their resourses they really slow on making new stuff and yeah all the titles look ancient now. Plus their milking methods are outrageous.
Bioware from the other hand is a hard working team, giving us top quality games quite often. If for any reason (EA) they wont go astray many glorious days are ahead of them.

blizzard used to be JUST LIKE THIS. They made top quality games. Then one day they decided to come out with an MMO. Fair enough, MMOs are fun anyway. The first 2 years of WoW were amazing. Amazing gameplay and high quality service.

But MMOs eventually corrupt all companies. They can make retarded shi.t up and still make money of it. They can refuse to create new patches or content, but its okay because only 5% of the entire community really gets to level 80 and has the best of the best gear. They can do anything they want, and still reap the benefits of monthly suscription. Greed has corrupted them, they plan to even milk the starcraft franchise much to the dismay of millions of angry koreans

As of now Bioware doesnt REALLY milk us dry, but their recent DLCs have been fcking trash. They are coming out with an MMO, and I do hope this does not affect them negatively.

Well be prepared for BioWare to be 'corrupted' because TOR is eventually coming out.

yea I know. I trust Bioware can handle an MMO well.

it took blizzard, an honest game company, 2 years of WoW to crack under greed.
Burning Crusade was really marketed towards a larger audience (making the bosses much easier, making combat more simpler, making it so any idiot can mash 2 buttons and play the game), and the requests and comments of the old fans were mostly ignored

WOTLK just took a huge **** on WoW fans. The bosses were extremely easy and unoriginal, the lore was retarded, customers were largely ignored. The expansion was way too short and now they plan on another one
