Also remember that Bioware is published by EA, Blizzard by Activision. While EA used to be the evil overlord of gaming, they did a lot to shed that mantle (they still are far from perfect, but they're an hell of a lot better than they used to be). Activision is the one true entity that every self-respecting gamer should hate.

Never forget Brutal Legend!

Question? Brutual Legend? What was bad about it in your opinion? I thought it was utterly brutal.... (awesome)

So, more votes for both sides than they got at this point in previous contests. BioWare is holding onto their lead, but could still use more votes...

Both developers make great games, and have the fans to show for it. So come on BioFans, get out there and show your support (and if you're a Blizzard fan... um... don't...).

Also, it wouldn't hurt to vote in the Valve/Zynga matchup. Valve may be leading right now, but every round Zynga has sent out an ad to vote and then the gap closes, until they surpass the other dev and win by a good margin.

I have a request for everyone.
Please, you may not know me, but I am in need of help.

We need more votes for Valve http://www.escapistm...-1-Valve?page=1

Now hear me out, despite your feelings on the company, they are facing off against Zynga, makers of Farmville. Valve is currently winning, but the gap is closing more and more, and we are in deperate need of aid.

It doesn't matter if your a console player, PC player, halo fan, Bioware fan, Blizzard fan, whathaveyou. We all have one thing in common. We are all gamers. And we all must unite to stop the beat known as Zynga. A wise man once said "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." And this has never been more true than it is now. So, my fellow gamers, I beg you, please help and vote against Zynga.

Together we can stop them, together we can win!

The game was awesome. The problem is that Activision first dediced that they weren't interested in the game because, according to them, it didn't have enough mass appeal, so they kicked the developers out.

Then EA picked up the game and proceeded to turn it into a media success and a popular franchise. At that point, as the game was almost on the scelves, Activision tried to sue in order to stop Brutal Legend from being published.

Ergo, for this and many other things, when it comes to EA vs Activision, EA will always have my vote. And since Bioware is EA and Blizzard is Activision, it's obvious that, even if i didn't actually prefer Bioware by a LONG shot (and I do), they would receive my vote.

No argument there. Well put. The last time I paid for a Blizzard game they were still flying solo so I guess I haven't got enough of the Activision hate in me yet....

They're saying on the Escapist site..that less than 2% of the voters ..tweeted for their developper of choice, get those tweets in if you have a Twitter account. It gives you an extra vote..please make sure to read the rules, and how to do that right, so it doesn't get disqualified. :)

Victory shall be ours!

Go on voting! Bring down the Blizzard monster!

But we seriously got to organize in order to win the finals against Zynga. If such an aberration is allowed to win, it'll be a blight upon the gaming world. A serious stain on the honor of true gamers!
Join us!

I'm not a big Valve fan, but C'MON??

Anyway, go BioWare

Blizzard never really did "fly solo" they were owned by Davidson & Associates within two years of their forming, and has changed hands many times since, Davidson was first aquired by Sierra Online, who were aquired themselves by CUC International (Cendent) who were found guilty of fraud due to shady accounting practices, Cendent sold their software arm (Sierra, Blizzard etc) To Havas which was aquired by Vivendi that same year, and merged with Activision in 2008.

Seeing as though they plan on milking Starcraft 2 with 3 seperate single player campaign releases on what pretty much is just a slightly prettier 10 year old game with few changes, and seeing that D3 footage so far consist of the same thing, a rehash of a 10 year old game with few innovations, its not hard to wonder why it takes them so long to esentially remake the same game over and over again. Though with how bad Bill Roper handled Flagship, I wouldn't be suprised if their long dev cycles and lack of innovation is due to mismanagement as well.

It's like comparing apples to peaches. Both are good, but Bioware and Blizzard have like, zero overlap in the genres they cover so far. Granted, with TOR Bioware is poaching in "Blizzard's turf", but other than that... About the only thing you can say is that Blizzard produces games with far, far fewer bugs. Of course, QA for RTS games is easier than it is for RPGs. But other than that... I like both companies, although for me personally Bioware has taken a nose-dive recently with the Awakening Expansion, but they're both great.

Yup I remember when Sierra Online..was a mom and pop operation..(family in otherwords)...and then Vivendi stepped in.    Devs from The Realm...went over to help with "Middle Earth Online"   ...not sure what happened with that exactly, but it didn't do well.    That license  for Middle Earth Online was eventually bought or got permission for ..way down the road, by Turbine...which gave us Lord of the Rings Online.

Diablo at that time was being developped..or ready for release, I don't remember which, but I remember Sierra stating it was being developped by a "sister company".

I was a roleplay moderator for Sierra Online roleplay boards..back then.  Lots of changes happened quickly after Vivendi appeared in the picture.

Personally...I left with a free beta pass for a NEW 3-D game called Everquest.    Yeah I've been around a little bit of time. :D

Ah there it is.  Thought at first it was once of those contest links that people are being sneaky about.  Image IPB

Do I have to use Twitter for this?  If I do, I'd much rather chew broken glass then to sign up for another social network.  Facebook is bad enough.  ....and I'm ranting.  My bad! Image IPB
