And here was me sitting here through all of game 1 thinking "That is just a really awful first name..."
Same. I did figure it out before it was explicitly stated in ME2, but I remember getting really annoyed through the first two or three ME1 playthroughs when no one ever used his 'first name'. When I finally figured out Wrex
was his name, it was a definite 'D'oh!' moment - especially as I
hate it when every alien has the exact same naming system as English humans. There's some cultures here even that employ tribal names, and in varying orders.

I'm not sure if this counts, but the first genophage conversation with Wrex (ME1) made Shepard look like a giant idiot.
Of all the things that got to me in ME1 (and to be fair, there weren't many), this was by far the worst.
"It seems pretty much the same to me."
No Shepard, you blundering idiot! Even if you were stupid enough to think that a brief occupation was in anyway similar to the near sterilization of entire species, even if whatever mediocre history tutoring the Alliance gave you never covered a fundamental aspect of a commonly hostile species, you don't say something like that to a massive, towering , muscular lizard man famed for blood rage whose loyalty to your mission you're trying to obtain.
Why were ALL THREE dialogue options so utterly asinine!
Even just "Yeah turians are all w*nkers, they tried to have a war with us. Let's talk about how annoying we find them for our respective reasons" would have been a better response than that.
