Well, today is a sad day for me. My console has played tricks on me twice in the past by displaying 3 Red Rings after having a game freeze but no actual problems. I did have disc drive failure as well which was a short 12 day repair process while in warranty.

But, today is no trick or joke (thank God it isn't April 1st). After loading up MW2, downloading the new update, I was half-way through a match when my console displayed 2 Red Lights. As usual, I thought it was one of those tricks my console thinks are so funny. I let my console sit for a while and started playing some MW2 again. Again, half-way through a match my console backed out and displayed 2 Red Lights. I let it sit again for a while. Finally, I turned it on again and long behold... 3 Red Lights. "Come on" I thought, its not that funny, it was maybe the first two times but I don't even know what people say when they say "fool me three times."

Well, now whenever I turn on my console, I get the 3 Red Lights aka RROD. It took 3 years, 3 months, 6 days, and 1 disc drive replacement.

I knew this day would come, I didn't expect it to take so long to be honest. My console was manufactuared July 3, 2006 making it one of the original Xenon motherboard designs. No HDMI and 16.5 amps.

RIP Xbox 360: 12/25/06 - 3/31/10

Thankfully, I'm still under the 3 Red Lights Warranty. Just sent in a repair request that won't cost my a penny.

This is just another reason I want to win the Mass Effect Xbox 360.

Wow, did they really extend the 3 light warranty back that far? Good for them.

I purchased mine when Mass Effect came out. No problems yet, <crosses fingers>.

The worst part about this for me is that I won't be able to play Splinter Cell Chaos Theory online ever again unless I were to get my console back before April 15.

We have 5 360's in our house, and none of them have RRoD'd yet! Well, I guess we did have to replace 2 of them a while back...but, since thennnn, none have RRoD'd!

Yeah, seemed like back then you'd either get a 360 that'll last you, or one that'll quit on you quickly.

I got my original one back in '06. It lasted a year, then my next went two months. The one after that lasted a week, and I've had the one I have now since.

Apparently the new Call of Duty map pack and title update have been causing a ton of problems anyway, including broken matchmaking and not properly rendering the maps. Tough break though. I'm on my 5th xbox. I feel your pain.

Mine died a day or so before last Christmas, which is probably the worst period in the year because most companies are closed during that period. Also, it was just before I started Dragon Age's endgame, which only made the problem worse.
