The best power would probably be Reave. However, once you max out Champion and Heavy Charge, you're all set. The rest is really up to personal preference.

i agree that reave is the best. i just think reaves bad assery fits well with the vanguards bad assery. it surely is an intimidating setup.

I always liked the overkill shield boost from Barrier plus Charge but Reave is all around better.

I really like Tali's Energy Drain. Vangaurds get Inferno ammo that can take down armor, so it's nice to be able to take down shields, too. Barriers down show up that much, so you don't really have to worry about them.

I didn't like Reave because it took so long for my power use to recharge. Also, you only get the bonus health if damage their health and not shields/armor. If they're down to health, you can take them out easily with charge or inferno ammo.

As soldier I used Tali's energy drain. In Insanity your shields last othewise about two seconds.

Reave is rather boring and has a really long cooldown. I'd rather be Charging than waiting. You can outright kill something that has full defences in the time it takes to cast Reave, wait for the cooldown, and not kill it. Slam on the other hand has a very short cooldown and you can set up Warp explosions with it. It's also very entertaining.

Slamplosion fun

I also have some fun with Slam in this video.

Vanguards don't need a bonus power. Everything you're given makes you an unstoppable killing machine. I find that Reave just makes you want to stay in cover longer and more often. That's not what Vanguards are meant to do. You should be in the middle of the fray exploding faces with your shotgun

Regarding Energy Drain, that doesn't make sense to me either. You can pop a Medi-gel which has a much shorter cooldown and restores full health and shield, or just Charge.

It's all personal preference though. Play around, have some fun. That's the point I'm getting at. There is no best. Find what fits your playstyle, or just don't take one!

IMHO Reave sucks. Slam is a lot more fun.

Doesn't matter, tbh. Pick whichever one you like.

You need to have a squadmate down before you can pop a medi-gel so it's not always available for use & charge although its my fav power in the game their are enemies in the game you cant charge & theirs a few parts in the game where charge will bug out & not work so when shep says "cant get a lock" i pop off energy drain and its totally saved my shep from eating dirt a lot of timesB)

True, as long as the one you like is Reave.

Incorrect. You can use a Medi-gel any time you are not at 100% regardless of squadmate status. Also, I'm not saying Energy Drain is bad or anything, I just don't think it's worth it. I've never run into a situation where I needed it. :)

Heavy Warp ammo.

Put that on a claymore and everything just dies Inferno ammo be damned.

Especially since it has only that 1.5 sec cool down so you can keep charging unlike reave.

And against every enemy other that Geth this is the best overall damage ammo.

Then i can see your point if you can use medi-gel anytime you want but its strange then because on my game medi-gel cant be used untill one of my squadmates is dead doesn't matter if i'm on the verge of death if both my squaddies are alive medi-gels a no go.
Hmm any one else have this problem?

Slam, because it can set up WE and has a very fast CD, letting you charge again soon (and doesn't require waste points in shockwave for pull).

Warp ammo, awesome vs collectors, otherwise better off with inferno ammo imo.

Reave if you don't want to charge much, very powerful but prevents mad vanguard style play.

I'm voting reave. Maxing it out is great. Excellent barrier/armor killer before the charge of death.

I believe you have to have a couple of upgrades before you can start throwing Medigel around like that. Specifically, the ones that allow the Medigel to restore Health and Shields. I know one is called 'Trauma Module', but I can't remember the name of the other. Once you get both of those, Unity becomes an Oshi- button.

Don't forget that Energy Drain also drains enemy shields. :P

Could be the difference between one shot or two when you Charge.

As for me... If I were to make a normal Vanguard I'd probably take... like, Slam or 1pt Dominate for the lulz. Squad Cryo is too good to pass up to be wasting points on a bonus power.

Was going to say that. That's most likely why. I get that asap and have never had it not work.
