Point one, agree completely, points two and three, I'll take your word for it as I have no experience myself, point four, disagree completely, for me it is samara and mordin.  Area Incinerate and Pull field are insta-kills, way more useful than a Krogan charge, which is the only reason I can think of for you using Grunt instead of Garrus.

As an infiltrator Garrus and Legion were my team.  The only time I didn't take them was when I knew there would be husks or when I was trying to get the achievement for using specific powers.  After them is Samara and Mordin, Incineration Blast and Pull Field FTW.

Didn't use Miranda, If I needed overload I used Garrus, and he has Concussive shot which is good against barriers.  And If I needed someone who could take down armor I used Mordin and we tag teamed incinerate.
