Having seen a multitude of mentions and several long discussions on the subject of plot holes, the strength or weakness of the central story, the need for so many characters and loyalty missions (even before DLC), and carrying decisions over from Mass Effect....I decided I had to present the forums with a question.
I asked the same thing of myself and some friends after Phantom Menace and a couple other disappointing movies.
The question is, how would you have done it?
It's not meant to be a personal attack, just a challenge out of my own curiosity. What ways of tightening or changing the plot, characters, etc. might have strengthened ME2, satisfactorily continued ME1, and still set up the plot lines we believe will play an important role in ME3?

I think less companions, but more depth in them would have been nice. A more galactic spanning final mission would also help with the overall less-than-epic feel of the game, especially after the first was so epic. However, they are heading in the right way with combat, they just need to have kept a bit more RPG elements.

Should have mentioned "specific changes" in my OP. Like, which characters would you have taken out? How might the final mission have been more galactic spanning, and how would we make the rest of the central story lead up to that?
(In general though I do agree with your changes)

i would've given ME2 some significant plot progression in the reaper plot so it didn't have essentially the same ending scenario as ME1, only "rebooted".

Only thing I would have changed is the length.
(that's what she said! zing!)
