Six Random Facts about your Shepard(s)...
#276
Posté 19 novembre 2010 - 01:38
1. Collects a small rock from each world she's been on.
2. Didn't want to enter Special Forces. She wanted to be on a exploration ship; it wasn't until what happened on Elysium that she entered the program.
3. Did a slightly racy photo shoot right after she turned 18 with some friends. She still regrets it, and has the only copies of the pictures.
4. Ran triathalons until going in to space. No place to swim.
5. Her father died when she was 10, it was a tragic space suit accident. She's a stickler about basic prevenative maintnenace because of it. (Ashley: "The Commander thinks the rifles are still dirty! I've cleaned them twice already!)
6. Most of her personal possesions before her death are in a storage locker that she and her mother share.

1) Was frequently abused by his mother as a child. As a direct result, developed a natural disdain for woman.
2) Despite never knowing his father, grew up idolizing his absent parent. Since his mother claims that she always argued with his father over galactic politics, he believes (even still) that his father left the family to become an Alliance politician.
3) After his mother was killed in the raid of Mindoir (upon hearing of her death he only said one word - "good" ) was relocated to the Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training program for his potential as a biotic.
4) Was initially considered a failure by the BAaT program due to poor performance. However, this all changed when he permanently disfigured the spine of one classmate and blew off the arm of another with a biotic attack.
5) After witnessing batarians rape a human woman, decided to join the Alliance. Was almost refused entry due to schizophrenic tendencies and personality disorders developed from his traumatic childhood.
6) Views the galaxy in completely black and white. In his eyes you are either a morally upright citizen who deserves to live, or a criminal who deserves nothing but death.

Lt. Cmdr. Mary-Anne Shepard, Earthborn, War Hero, Sentinel, Paragade
1. Shepard has a problem with authority, believing most people in positions of power have done little to earn it. However, she is more than willing to take orders from a person who commands obedience, such as her mentor, David Anderson. Overall, she has no qualms with causing a political brouhaha amongst the higher-ups if the community as a whole benefits from it. Her time on Earth gave her a great deal of appreciation for the working-class citizens of the galaxy. She is of the firm belief that a man is entitled to the sweat of his brow.
2. Before receiving biotic training and L3 implants at the age of nineteen, Shepard's biotic powers were only sufficient to move small objects like pebbles or paper. In her Tenth Street Reds days, she would often use her biotics as a flashy way to roll dice. To this day, Shepard is fond of gambling.
3. When she enlisted in the Alliance, Shepard opted for intense tech training in addition to her mandatory biotic mastery courses. She did this with the rationale that if everyone on her team was dead or incapacitated except her, she'd be equipped to handle any situation. This was only further cemented in her mind after the Skyllian Blitz, after which she returned to Arcturus Station and underwent assault rifle training to add another facet to the growing list. Prior to Elysium, she was only trained with pistols.
4. Shepard is endlessly warm and kind to her allies, but she is utterly ruthless with her enemies to the point of borderline sadism. One particularly disturbing habit she has is to talk enemies down to surrender only to kill them anyway, usually with some sort of preachy one-liner delivered beforehand.
5. Shepard is fond of using her knack for conversation and persuasion to turn dishonesty against the dishonest. As a result, she thinks highly of Gianna Parasini, noting their similar backgrounds, and secretly envies her for having such an entertaining job.
6. Due to their shared views on justice and punishment, Shepard's opinion of Samara(and of justicars in general) is extremely high. Just how far Shepard's reverence of Samara goes, however, is unknown even to her.

1. Shepard's head is shaved because she despises the look and feel of human hair. As a result, she finds many alien species(especially asari, turian, and drell) to be extremely attractive due to their apparent lack of hair.
2. In Shepard's eyes, to don a military or mercenary uniform is to acknowledge the imminence of one's own death. She does not mourn the losses of soldiers under her command, but is known to go to great lengths to keep them alive.
3. Shepard only trusts one of her squad mates with her life. That one squad mate is Grunt.
4. Shepard loathes her first name with a passion, hence why she is referred to as 'Shepard'. The last person to call her 'Madeline' lost seventeen of his teeth.
5. Shepard dislikes using rapid transit. She walks(or runs) wherever she needs to go unless she absolutely must do otherwise.
6. Shepard's middle name is Georgette. She doesn't like that one either.

1. Despite having a crappy life living as a two bit pick pocket theif, she worked the salvage piles, to earn honest money, and taught/ paid other people to help her read and write. As a teen, she would take classes at a school for the poor kids. Saw her first Alliance recruiter when she was 16
2. Studies died quarian, korgan, asari, and human history, politics, and culture while on shore leave. Unlike most of the crews on ships she served on, she's not a party hearty type, and perfers to be sober when its time for roll call in the morning.
3. Hates when people automatically assume she's a dude by her first name. She came to peace with finding out she'll never have parents....and she doesn't feel anger anymore. After starting her Alliance training, she tried in vain to find them one more time
4. Has a love of poetry, music, art like Ash. Would easedrop on conversations whenever Ash would talk to her family during breaks in missions.
5. Clueless as to how she became Spectre material. Still has no idea how/why she passed N7 training because she was always terrified to be the leader of anything
6. Before hitting the bunk, she always has a cup of hot tea and reads a chapter in some sort of classical novel or tries to memorize a new poem- something from the quarian or asari culture

1. Never really had any problems with his parents, unlike most of his squad(s). Is still in contact with his mother as much as possible, though the schedules of military life make that contact hard to keep up sometimes. She keeps teasing him about when he'll bring Garrus and Tali by to visit. His father died of a heart attack in 2180, while Shepard was carrying out a highly-classified N7 mission; one of his biggest regrets is missing the funeral.
2. Many humans in the future cite organic, "real" foods as their favorites, since they're so rare due to Earth's enviromental degradation. Not Shep; while he rarely gets to eat it while on duty, he has a massive craving for fast food. One of his first stops on the Citadel in ME2 was to the Burger King outlet on Zakera Ward.
3. Never really much for pets. He convinced his parents to bring a dog onboard their current ship as a kid... it didn't end so well. When he saw the fish tank in his room, he didn't know what to do with it at first, and when he realized there wasn't even an automated feeder, he decided against actually buying fish. But he had a few left after tricking Kargesh and thought "what the hell," and they haven't died once since.
4. That said, he would've brought Urz on board the Normandy long ago if there was any way to keep him away from Kelly. Mordin's mention of scale-itch made Shep wonder just how far Yeoman Chambers was taking the cross-species openness. He still hasn't mentioned anything to her, since Shepard tries to be tolerant even of things like that, but he probably won't be having dinner with her again anytime soon either.
5. Despite being a natural leader, Shepard's actually very introverted when he can be. Constantly moving around as a kid kept him from having too many friends that lasted, and much of his time in the military was spent on his own, carrying out black ops missions. While the Normandy is travelling between planets and he's not going around solving his squad's personal issues, he likes to go up to his cabin, tune the radio to (21)60's prog metal, and read whatever he can get his hands on (recently he's been loaning books from Kasumi). He was drawn to Liara because he saw a bit of a kindred spirit, but was turned off by just how much she's changed while he was dead, and let their relationship become a thing of the past. Luckily, Tali was one of his BFF's even on the original Normandy, and it didn't take much longer for her to become something more... he's not quite as introverted any more.
6. Though he has a deep respect for freedom of the press and the worst thing he would do during an interview would be to excuse himself politely, Shepard couldn't help cracking up when he watched the videos the Shadow Broker had on Khalisah Al-Jilani.

3. Never thought about settling down until he began dating Liara T'sonni.
4. Keeps his body in peak physical condition.

1. Considered leaving the Alliance after Torfan, but was convinced to continue on the basis that she couldn't let the men under her command die for nothing. Even though it's been several years, she still doesn't believe she's done enough to make up for it, and is hurt when people call her the "Butcher of Torfan". Not that she'd ever show it, of course.
2. Developed a drinking problem after being resurrected, on account of being forced to work with Cerberus, an organisation she will never endorse, and all the frustration that comes with such a job. Once again, she'd never admit to it (except maybe to Kaidan), but it's fairly obvious to most of the crew.
3. She prefers to be referred to as Arianna by her friends, Ari by her family and Kaidan, and Shepard by everyone else. She detests being called "Commander" when she's not actually part of the Alliance anymore, though she'd rejoin in a heartbeat. Oddly, no one seems to follow said guidelines on names...
4. Her poor driving skills were legendary in the Alliance long before being assigned to the Normandy - a popular joke among recruits was that if Shepard could pass vehicle training, anyone could. She remains blissfully unaware of this, never seeing the grimaces on her squadmates' faces whenever Joker said "I'll drop the Mako". Similarly, she failed to notice the looks of abject terror Garrus and Tali gave her when she suggested they fire up the Hammerhead.
5. Is creeped out to no end by husks and Thorian creepers, and panics when they get too close. Thankfully, being an infiltrator, she can usually keep her distance, but still has recurring nightmares about being swarmed and mauled by husks, before being dragged away and impaled on one of those spikes. Just the thought of those blank, empty eyes is enough to give her the shivers.
6. Never fully trusts the Cerberus members aboard the Normandy SR-2, save maybe Gabby and Ken. She was convinced Jacob was stalking her, at least until he died, and couldn't understand why Miranda kept sticking her arse out trying to show off her cleavage. She also developed an insane theory that TIM was Miranda's father. As for Kelly, Shepard still questions her real role on the ship: a VI could sort the admin, and Shepard seems to be doing well enough at playing counsellor. The paranoia has subsided somewhat post-SM, but that doesn't mean she doesn't still do ship-wide checks for bugs before turning in for the night.
Wow, I have way too much time on my hands. I just typed all that on an iPod, for no real reason...

- When a passing Alliance patrol stopped a slaver raid on Mindoir, they found a blood spattered Clare in a storage room surrounded by dead slavers. Years later she was the sole survivor of a Thresher Maw attack on her team on Akuze. Coincidence?
- Enjoys seeing heads explode in her scope. From time to time she challenges Garrus to headshot contests.
- Has complained to the Illusive Man that she'd prefer to undertake the collector suicide mission solo.
- She doesn't count her death at the hands of the Collectors; she prefers to think the "temporarily" marooned her on Alchera.
- Her motto: when all else failes, the M290 Cain never disappoints. (Well, unless it's used in close quarters.)
- Clare suspects she has some rogue twin in an alternate universe. Obsessively thinks the uneasy feeling she gets anytime she dons the Blood Dragon Armor confirms it.

-The Blitz was a an epiphany moment for him. With half of Elysium's population being non-human he fought besides human and aliens who were willing to die for this colony, which was just as much their home as it was humanity's. It made him realize how similar they were to us.
-Growing up a biotic he was seen by many religions as being evil or unnatural. It was a large part of his reasons for turning to atheism.
-A firm believer in the Alliance. No single nation has the resources to drive human expansion into the stars. Only the Alliance can do this for mankind. He hopes for a day when the nations of Earth no longer exist as anything but in name only.
-Even though the Council does not believe his story about the Reapers he does not hold it against him. He realizes that it is a difficult story to swallow and would call someone insane who told it to him. The fact that they are generous enough to reinstate him as a Spectre even as he works for a terrorist organization it enough for him. It might be simply because he saved their lives in the Battle of the Citadel but it matters not to him.

Ethnic background: Native American and Italian.
Age: 33.
Weight: 133 lbs
Height: 5 ''9
Financial back ground: "Upper middle class"
Current financial back ground: "Lower upper class"
Important Medical Information: Was given the standard customary cure for diabetes when she was two years old.
Drinks consistently in private/ on sick-leave.
1. Has a strained relationship with her mom. Wants to be closer to her, but never had the courage to ask for more personal time with her. This is ironic, considering her incredible ability to set aside her personal fears to achieve missions.
2. Her charisma is also a social vice in her own private opinion. Men (and women), while able to find her quite attractive, are easily inspired by her team building skills, battle field control, and innovation to immediate problems. This, however, has lead for her inferior ranked officers to find her intimidating, and her superiors to shy away from her. While she made friends, she was often privately depressed that the only places she could get anything resembling a relationship, were off world brothels, usually filled with Asari. Her occasional sick-leave to these brothels gave Olivia a Asari fetish, which initially sparked her relationship with Dr. T'soni.
She also has a fetish for inferior male officers under her command. She has never had the courage to act on this impulse.
3. Secretly she has feelings for Garrus and Jacob. But her affection for Liara kept her loyal. She is slightly confused about her feelings for Garrus, as he is a turian, and in no way resembles a human. Garrus sees her more as a mentor and close buddy (as was too often the case when she was in the alliance). Her current conclusion to the one way attraction, is that she finds Garrus attractive because he is tall.
4. Was often bored during Alliance schooling/college. Despite her decent over all grades, Olivia spent most of her time in class day dreaming. Her fascination with alien races lead her to take interplanetary communication classes, which she did well in.
5. At 17, she took a marksmen class, and loved it. A natural with the guns that she felt were mere extensions of herself, she aced every test, quickly becoming an assistant in the class. She fell for a boy named Orion who also took the class, but after a six months, Orion got involved in gang activity aboard the cruiser she was on, and ran (without telling Olivia) to a small new colony world. He was killed a few weeks later. Olive followed in her parents footsteps, and went on to become the greatest Soldier the Alliance ever trained.
6. With the ability to read most battlefields like a book, inspire others to perform incredible individual and team feats, to her utterly unrivaled combat abilities (she was once put into a VI training room with no less than 7 [at the time] prototype YMIR mechs, no cover, no armor, and only a shotgun, and she beat them all, while Alliance officials on the other side of the combat glass stared in shock), she became an instant first choice for N7 training. However, during one combat and survival simulation, she was shot by a rubber bullet in the gut and technically should have marked herself out. If it were a real live battlefield situation, she would have likely been paralyzed with pain. Bleeding from the impact of the rubber dud, Shepard pretended that her wound was merely a graze, and (essentially cheating) beat the combat simulation. She covered her wound at the end of the sim, with her sniper rifle which hung under her arm. The Alliance reps were so impressed with her, that they barely inquired as to the damage caused to her, and she was able to make it to the empty locker room showers before vomiting blood, which she washed away. She didn't meet Anderson until a few days after the simulation, by which time the wound had healed.

1. Has fought in more battles than any human his age.
2. Abstains from most vices (such as drinking)... though did have a moment with Ashley (his betrothed... before he died).
3. Believes that the "purpose" and "letter" of the law sometimes differ, but will follow the former if i came down to it. Prefers to take minimal chances on things that are of high importance (hence some neutral and renegade decisions)
4. Prefers racial diversity despite still having a slight preference for humanity.
5. Full-contact spars with Krogans and Turians (he also routinely tests his biotic abilities against Asari matriarchs that allow him to) on his off-hours, otherwise he's reading a book or checking up on his crew.
6. Wants to see if (upon training) he can biotic charge through a Reapers's shield and body.
