If wanted to make an Underdark themed module for Drow is there any way I can hack into the game and expand the skin tones for elves so the player could make a dark elf?

There was a post on the forums awhile back, detailing how to implement custom textures, but I don't know the specifics.

this is easy.

create a custom face morph (right click in the palette window > new > morph), and choose the base morph at the top of the drop down list in the morph editor (HM_UHM_BASa_0).

you'll see a man's head. Look to the right, and you see a setting for skin color. click the "..." and you'll see a list of skin color choices in a browse window. Drop the filter down to ALL TNT FILES *.TNT and you'll see a much larger selection of colors.

the tattoo colors especially are "vibrant". Choose a blue like t1_tat_blu and you'll see the man is very blue skinned.

Save and export to local your head (right click, export) and then go back to your creature editor. pick the head morph, and it will override the rest of the skin tone settings in the creature editor (it will in fact grey them all out).

ah, if you're looking to make blue elves, you'll need to morph an elf head. You can't attach a human head to an elf body, etc.

in that case, as the base for the morph, choose the EM_ (elf male) base to begin, then make it blue.

if the tattoo blue is too blue, just poke around for other tints in the window where you're showing *.TNT

i'd actually be interested in knowing how to make our own TNT files with custom colors. I need an NPC with pink hair, but the pinks available are all like WAY TOO PINK. if I figure it out i'll post back.

creating a tint is pretty basic. New > material, then start whacking away. Tattoo tints are the simplest, with only one RGB value. the others have independent values, or specular vs base. I think I may type up a brief thing on the wiki, since there's nothing so far.

I posted once, btw, and made sure to not click submit again. then I went into another tab and dug around on the wiki. these forums are awful.
