Whatever game they do, you'll end up fighting generic enemies. I'd rather fight generic darkspawn than Qunari....

Given the in depth history and lore they spent ~2yrs crafting, there's so many other things DA2 could cover - the animosity between elves and humans, the political intrigues of Orlais, a Qunari invasion - and all would be far more interesting (imo) than killing generic humanoid monsters for the umpteenth time
I'm with you on this one. I certainly wouldn't object to another Grey Warden based game but when they've created such a rich detailed world, I'd really like to see more of it. Also a really big thing for me against directly importing a DA:O1 character is it would mean no origin story! I love origin stories!
My ideal for the next game would be to be set in a completely different country, maybe Antiva (where i would really hope there would be a 'son of a ****' origin ala Zevran), maybe Tevinter (where i think you could have a fantastic mage origin that would be incredibly different from the first game), etc.
I guess you could import the plot events of a character, so people would talk about events that had happened during the Blight in Ferelden (after all in would be the type of thing people would talk about), possibly even see some of you companions from DA:O1. But in terms of importing experience etc, i suppose that a slight starting bump to xp would be quite nice but I do actually like starting off as a scrappy little nothing

I'm hoping they'll allow us to import our DA characters, provided ofc that they aren't dead by the time DA2 starts.
I would love to be able to continue my characters journey, visit new places and see how his actions helped shape the world.

I hope they don't because that would mean that they didn't spend energy improving the DA skill/talent system which is lacking from a RPG perspective.
it's combat and combat and yet more combat and then some crafting and a single social skill. they seriously need to add more diversity. and i thought D&D was limited in this fashion.

I'd rather fight generic Qunari. The darkspawn have been covered and I felt obligated to kill them rather than compelled. Generic mindless baddies a la Origin's darkspawn, orcs or zombies etc get tedious quickly and aren't particularly threatening whereas villains that are personable are far more enjoyable and tend to give a far better reason to kill them. For example, I have a stronger urge to kill Howe than slay the Archdemon because he has a personality that makes people depise him, something the Archdemon is severely lacking. Megalomaniacs command more attention than a force of nature
