ME2. I loved KOTOR and ME1, but in my eyes, ME2 is the best game ever made, period.
Poll: ME1 vs ME2 vs SW:KOTOR1 (PLEASE DON'T VOTE IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED ALL THREE)

KOTOR is still my fravourite RPG of all time. They are coming so close to beating it.

They were all good. Kotor was most immersive, Mass 1 was the most unexpected fun I have had in a videogame, and ME2 just turned it up a notch.

the reason you are going to get more ME2 votes then anything is because people will vote for it without playing the others, because most people are stupid.
Case and point the poll is stupid for the simple fact that Mass Effect games are shooters that pretend to have RPG elements in it where as SW KOTOR was a DnD based RPG set in the Star Wars Universe, they are in completely differnet geners

I like oranges more than apples
I prefer MGS over ME, KOTOR over Half Life, CoD over NWN, GTA over Prince of Persia, Indigo Prophecy over Need for Speed, Tekken 5 over WarCraft 3, Monkey Island over BioShock, The Witcher over Left 4 Dead etc etc.

Looking at all together Kotor is showing its age but back in the day it was very good. Still my favorite game of the three simply for the story.
I can suffer bad gameplay if a story is great but I cant suffer a weak story for great gameplay.
Kotor had story Me2 has gameplay. Me1 was in the middle.

ME2>ME1>Kotor.
I liked kotor but what i dislike that theres a "canon" path like a male revan and a lightside ending.

K.O.T.O.R it is the big daddy of all three it may not have the spit and polish of ME1 and ME2, But It is the foundation of Bioware with out it you would not have ME1 or ME2.It was the first game that i just could not wait to see more of the twist and turns the exploration of new worlds AMAZING.....

Nostalgia told me to vote for KOTOR1. And nostalgia is a hard thing to fight!
Exactly! That's why these polls are far more accurate when put into perspective - the most recent entry almost always wins by the virtue of being the newest. I remember this regularly happened with Star Wars-themed polls back when the prequels were running and always coming on top... but now?
I'd say in about two-three years, when the excitement over the freshness of Mass Effect 2 has faded ad it joins the others (incl. Dragon Age:Origins) as "retro" classics one could honestly compare them.
As for me, I prefer Mass Effect over KotOR any day. Sure, the latter is the best Star Wars-themed thing since the original trilogy (and maybe a few novels), but even by 2004 I think it was an exhausted franchise. No matter how much more originality BioWare put into it (and they did an incredible job).
Mass Effect, though, is currently my favorite "mass media" (i.e. games, movies, tv) sci-fi setting.

Problem with me voting in this poll I guess is that I have very little nostalgia for KOTOR. I was so off put by Baldur's Gate that I steered clear of Bioware games until ME came out. Right after playing ME I played KOTOR, so yeah.

Overall Game: ME2
Story and NPCS: KotOR
Creating a new universe and starting a new franchise: ME1
I appreciate each for it's own reasons.

Kotor was actually my first bioware game i think. The very game that made me a fan of bioware.

KotOR is by far the most epic story told in a videogame but ME2 managed to get close to that epic feeling of being in a great story while ME1 just about failed at having any sort of interesting/unpredictable twist at all so it fell flat on its face.

But, it's not just nostalgia for me, it's much more when I think about it.
For starters, all the characters were much better written than any ME1 characters (Kaidan=bad rip of Carth, Wrex=bad rip-off of Canderous), I mean who can forget HK-47 and Jolee Bindo.
The plot twist was one of the best plot twist ever done in a video game
Another great thing was that every world was very different than the previous
One of the things missing from ME is the fun minigames KOTOR had. Quezaar was awful, while KOTOR had swoop racing and Pazaak (I still play the standalone Pure Pazaak)
The sidequests were also much better than ME1's sidequests (ME2's sidequests are about equally good as KOTOR's, but maybe KOTOR's were a bit better)
The one thing missing from ME2 was a great antagonist. Malak and Saren were pretty good in that role

close between ME2 and KOTOR.
But ME2. It is just a better game, technically and depth wise. More character development I believe, but it was close.

I voted for ME 1. lol. I liked KotoR and all and I love SW, but I don't know, it just didn't hit me as much as ME 1 did. To be fair, my memory of KotoR is a bit blurry now. The only shocking part I remember was when Revan took off her mask. "NO WAAAAY!" lol.
