Trust me, if ME2 managed to beat KOTOR, it would crush BG (since most people that vote haven't played all games)

Jade Empire's absence forces me to assume we're sticking with Sci-Fi only? If Jade Empire were on this list, I'd cast my vote emphatically in its favor. It makes me sad that I've never heard anything that would lead me to believe we'll ever play a sequel.

I vote KotOR, for the following reasons:

1. It has far superior character interaction. I could speak with my team virtually anytime, anywhere. The conversations were much longer and went much deeper. ME was better in this regard then ME2, but KotOR was the best of the three.

2. KotOR had much better pacing. I never once found myself grinding for XP/Minerals as I have with both ME and ME2. I had fun the entire way, beginning to end.

I would love a game that had KotOR's deep character interactions, KoTOR's pacing (for the love of all that is good, no more mining/scanning!), and combat similar to ME2's design. That would be one hell of a game.

So why wasn't DAO added to the list?? Or is this just a sci fi comparison?

Quite honestly i would put DAO/DAA on par with ME2 but above KOTOR and ME1, at least for me.

For me it's ME2>ME1>KOTOR. Like my post in that poll says, I really like KOTOR, but I found the combat system to be just so bad that it is my least favorite of the Bioware games I've played. (That being said there aren't many older games that I'll go back and replay every once in a while, but KOTOR is one that I do play every so often) But if you remove the gameplay factor, I'd say all three are around equal to me.

KOTOR is by far my fav out of the 3, with ME1 coming in at number 2. IMO the only thing ME2 had better than those games was the graphics(graphics are the last on my list for game enjoyment) I like ME2 for what it is and have completed several playthroughs but it doesn't feel like the sequel I was expecting to my favorite 360 game.

This poll really makes me want a proper KOTOR 3, not an MMO. Also, KOTOR 2 is not a Bioware game for those comparing it, but I agree the story was the better of the 2 KOTOR games.

Hmm, tough choice. In the end I think I'll go with KOTOR, I have such great memories of it.Still, I do like them all.

What's with all the love for JE though? I mean, I liked the game okay, but I'd rate both ME's and both KOTOR's easily above it.

I had almost commented on KotOR2's origin myself, but deleted it before posting. I actually hated the story of KotOR2, for reasons better discussed elsewhere. Suffice it to say that itt didn't feel at all like SW to me. The gameplay upgrades and customization options were welcome, but were accompanied by glitchy gameplay.

The fact that we never received a sequel for JE suggests that many agree with you. That said, I think it was the best of the bunch, all things considered.

ME1>ME2>KOTOR

I first played KOTOR ages ago, I did like the game and rate it pretty high, I went through a new full play through back in Feb, but ME1 takes the cake for me. KOTOR honestly aggravated me quite a bit in certain parts. The dialog at times killed me with cheesiness, and I personally felt the characters personalities were all over the map. They could go from friendly and happy one moment, to a grumpy jerk the next. One second they were spilling their guts to me, and then next thing I know they refused to tell me anything because they don't trust me enough. While I grew to sorta like some of my companions, I never grew to really "care" for them like I did with ME1. I felt like ME1 was just so much deeper and more emotionally engaging. I also felt like the dialog was much better written.

I think JE had the best story of any of the  Bioware games.

Nostalgia told me to vote for KOTOR1. And nostalgia is a hard thing to fight!

Indeed. ^_^

Story: KOTOR>ME1>ME2

Gameplay: ME2>ME1>KOTOR though this is a little unfair, what with one being turn based.

Overall: KOTOR>(ME2=ME1)

Difficult decision though, as they are all in my top ten list.

Oh, and KOTOR2, though expanding nicely on the gameplay mechanics of KOTOR1, just falls apart toward the end of the game.

The ammount of wrong I seee in Curunen's post is staggering.

Story: KotOR>ME2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ME1(mediocre story)
Gameplay: ME2>KotOR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ME1(meh poor gameplay)
Overall: KotOR>ME2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ME1(low point of BioWare)

When I put a long string of arrows like this >>>>>>>>>>> it means that the game mentioned before the beginning of the string is a billion times better than the game that is mentioned after the end of the string.

I did a recent replay of KotOR and KotOR 2 about a year or so ago, making that the second KotOR 2 playthrough and the 6th KotOR playthrough.

ME1 has gotten 5 full playthroughs from me with 1 unfinished playthrough sitting waiting for me to return.

ME2 has gotten 2 full playthroughs with a third waiting at just after you are resurrected.

So, trust me, I appreciate KotOR and do really like the game.

But ME1 is a better game and better story than KotOR (if only for original universe AND !Star Wars(but honestly for more than that.)) That isn't to say KotOR's story was bad, either, it was good. I really liked it. But not as much as ME1.

And ME2, IMO, vastly improved on the gameplay and party interaction from ME1. I think the ME1 story was a bit more plot-heavy while the ME2 story was far more character-driven, and maybe the ME1 story was a tad better, but overall...

ME2>ME1>KotOR

If you throw in other BioWare games, I'd be a bit stumped on where to put Jade Empire and Baldur's Gate. I never finished Baldur's Gate (and, yes, I bought it RIGHT when it came out - I had preordered it), and I've only gotten through Jade Empire once. I've tried BG several times, and JE I've tried to replay twice. But I still like Jade Empire a lot, and I think BG was decent (if almost unplayable back in the day it came out (for me) and I wouldn't even dream of trying to enjoy it now.)

DAO, however, would be in first place for me.

A stupid picture doesn't make your opinion any more valid than mine.

In a "which game do you like better" poll, there is no wrong answer except if you lie about what you like.

I think ME1 was a better game with a better story than KotOR.

I'll give you one reason the story is better - ME1 is an original property, as I said earlier, and KotOR is based on Lucas's Star Wars.  You may be a fan of the Star Wars universe, Darth_Trethon, but I'm not.  I particularly do not like most of Star Wars, with rare exceptions like New Hope, the KotOR games, and the KotOR comics.   And even inside of those properities I have to deal with my dislike of the whole "Jedi/Force" story element.  I think Jedi are lame, I think the weird hybrid crossing of samurai/monk/knight is one of the worst sci-fi/fantasy creations made, and as such any stories that use Jedi has a strike against it for me.  New Hope is almost pre-Jedi, so I can enjoy it for a good movie.  The KotOR games are so well done by BioWare I can mostly ignore the stupid laser swords and violent pacifism.  The KotOR comics almost completely ignore Jedi stuff, other than Jedi being the bad guys and the Force basically being something to mock the main character.

If you like Star Wars and think KotOR is the greatest game Bioware ever did, more power to you.  You'll notice I'm not attacking you for your opinion.

And any amount of BS isn't going to change the facts. The story of ME is ****** poor compared to that of KotOR. Just look at the poll results.....the only reason ME even has as many votes as it has is mainly because of people who didn't read the thread and voted without having played all three games.

So because KOTOR's story is better than ME's, IN YOUR OPINION, that gives you the right to make fun of MerinTB? Wow, how nice. Can we please be more civil? You know, respect other people's opinions no matter how strongly you may disagree.

you also forget the fact that people will not vote for KOTOR becasue it was not a shooter... more people will vote for shooter then anything ebcause even a monkey can understand and play a shooter... to play a full out RPG takes an IQ beyond that of forrest gump... and the number of people that are smarter then old forrest are far fewer then the ones that look up to him as a bright mind to strive for

1 - The sample size of this poll is pathetically small.  It'll prove nothing outside of what the favorites of those taking the poll.
2 - The sampling included in the group is not representative of gamers, or even BioWare fans.  Again, it'll prove nothing outside of the favorites of those who vote in the poll.
1 & 2 - The poll is unscientific and can only really be taken as a fun aside.
3 - Using this poll results as proof of quality of story is pointless.  If the poll question had been "which of these three has the best story" then you could use the results to show which the majority of voters in this poll thought had the best story.
4 - Just for the record, to dismiss the ad hominem attacks and attempts to poison the well, I don't like FPS games overall.  It's generally a genre I avoid.  And clearly my playing KotOR 6 times shows how hard it was for me and how much I just didn't get it and prefer those FPS games.

All the special pleading in the world will not change the results of this very unscientific poll.  But if you want some special pleading, let's try this -

Those who picked ME2 might like the Mass Effect universe better than the Star Wars universe.  They may have ranked it ME2>ME1>KotOR, but were only allowed to pick 1.  You cannot know how those who voted for ME2 would rank KotOR vs. ME1, except to make the broad assumption that since they picked the ME universe over the Star Wars universe they might pick ME1 over KotOR.  Outside of that, the only ones you can say for CERTAIN prefer KotOR to ME1 are those who voted for KotOR.

But come back with some more immature rantings and logical fallcies you use to bolster your own OPINIONS.  It is pointless, as opinions about what someone likes are not something that need to be argued - you either like something or you don't.

There is something to be said, however, about level of intelligence and how well one communicates.  Proper grammar, proper spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, strength of arguments, use of logic, absence of fallacious arguments...
I'll put up my reasoning and composition skills against those of the "the only reason the poll resulted in X is because of those voting misunderstanding the poll" and the "you disagree with me so I'm gonna call you Forest Gump" crowd anyday.
