question. If i delete the update, go back to a save file that is just before the final battle and redo the last battle with all the darkspawn endlessly spawning, will that work?

the counter won't reset, because i deleted the patch and after killing some DS in dalish elf origins the trophy of master warden (500 kills) poped up, so i guess it's not only the patch, but the trophy itself is a bug for some...

Received now another trophy (Blight-Queller), and I made about 600 kills now, after the Master Warden.. the counter will not reset, those trophies are nothing more than glitched trophies, u can only get it with version 1.00 and a bit of luck

So how do I go back to 1.00 on the ps3 without losing trophies/saves/etc?

I got the first trophy for being a genocidal so and so and then the later two refused to unlock until I was vastly beyond the numbers needed. Finally they then unlocked in quick fashion. I was playing as Human Warrior and both unlocked during the start of THE GREAT BIG LONG SPOILER AT THE END. It was like the counter had gotten stuck and then jarred loose.

it's impossible to lose trophies unless sony itself bans u from PSN, and u won't lose saves too.. just delete the big file of dragon age (about 2-3GB) and then install the game again.. to be able to play u must deactivate the network

BEWARE: if u had any dlc's installed, your saves with that dlc's WON'T work, so if u delete the main file and reinstall, u will lose dlc's too and u won't be able to play your saves until u reinstall the dlc's, and that means a connect to DAO servers, however u are forced to install 1.01 patch..

I finally got the trophies after removing the 1.01 patch, and killing 1000 darkspawn again.

So, basically, all my characters are screwed and I need to make a new one (since I have all the dlcs and Awakening) to unpatch the game and get the trophy...Or can I use one of the 3 chars I got in Ostagar and thus haven't used any of the dlcs?

when i had this problem, i had finished the game twice, had a save for each orgin finished at ostagar, and had all the dlc i could have, including awakening. when i deleted the patch (ps3, its game data utility - then it will be the dragon age origins file nearest the top of the list.) if there is only one in the list, then u cant have it installed, i dont believe lol.

u wont be able to play any dlc ect but when ur finished playing through wiv wot eva character save or wot u want to get these trophies, then install the patch, n all dlc will be bak to normal.

Can't see why this wouldn't work.

I had no save file before the end battle therefore i had to play through again to make up the DS kills.Posted Image

I posted this on another thread but I'll post it here too, since this one seems to be more active.

I just got both trophies last night, with the latest patch installed.

My first playthrough I screwed up with a bad stat distribution and wrong skills, so I decided to start again when I was level 7. I had more than 100 darkspawns kill with this char, since I got the Grey Warden achievement with him.

With my second char, I got the Master Warden achievement at the very end of the game, when fighting the last boss! My party had around 800+ darkspawns kill total, so I agree that it's either a bug or that only the main character kills count.

However, after beating the game, I loaded a previous file to make some different choices at the end, and beat the game again. Surprisingly, when I reached the last boss again, I got the Blight Queller. This was a real surprise, because my darkspawn kill count was 927! 0_o

This is very bizarre. I got both trophies with less than 3h difference, and that is including the ending cutscenes time.

i can't get any of the DarkSpawn trophies (PS3)

Will try deleting the patch like you said, but does that mean to get the 100 achievement I would have to kill 100 DS from the point I'm at when I delete the patch?

BTW, BioWare & EA - shame on you for not fixing this yet. YOUR GAME IS BROKEN

I posted in another thread a while back, but again, this seems more active. I had all the latest patches, and all dlc installed. I had two play throughs with over 1000 darkspawn kills on one and 800 on another. I received Master Warden around 800 kills on my first play through.

I had read that people thought you had to have the kills on while controlling your main character. So, I made a mage and went through the entire game again. I ended with 1020 Darkspawns kills. The entire game my party was set to buff and do nothing else. I killed every single darkspawn while controlling my main character (go arcane warrior). I did not get the Blight Queller trophy.

This trophy is absolutely messed up. I suppose that deleting the patches and killing another 1000 darkspawn would be the last thing worth trying, although I really dont feel like it anymore. I pretty much hate the game now.

By the way Bioware, I imagine you don't care, but this will be the last of your games I ever play. The amount of bugs is just ridiculous. Your lack of assistance or response is also insulting.

another method that has worked for some people is to reload an area rich in darkspawn and keep killing then reloading, it seems to keep the kills between reloads. This has only been posted by a couple of people though so can't vouch for it, I will say that my master warden opened up doing this but haven't had the inclincation to play the same bit over and over for blight queller yet o_O

360-wise, you just head to the Memory section, highlight the Hard Drive and press 'Y', then 'Clear Cache. I'm assuming PS3 would be something similar...

For 360, if you have DLC this doesn't work. Your character files cannot be loaded. This is a pain.

Started a new character completely off-line w/o the update to see if it unlocks at 500. Stay tuned...

Look, people, many trophies are bugged. And it's hard to see how exactly. For example, I got Perfectionist trophy when I started Awakening in the first time. And got Ultimate Sacrifice trophy for loading an auto-save after completing the game with Dark Ritual ending.

My best guess is that game counts for trophies only darkspawn killed by main character personally.

I just unlocked Master Warden and Blight Queller by starting an off-line game and playing from the start until the Tower of Ish. quest. I saved and repeated the tower a bunch of times, each time saving in a new file after killing the Ogre and restarting. So it definitely counts kills by the team PRE-update AND replaying an area DOES work.

I suspect (guess) that the update changes the criteria from team kills to main character kills.

My attempts to ask EA what the criteria for the achievements are were comical at best. First they gave me a link to a website that is not about Dragon Age then they told me that they didn't answer questions about the game. Goes to prove, that if you want something done right...

I just got both of these trophies for my plat just today. i updated to the latest patch which is 1.02. spent about 1h 40m playing the end of the game over and over. i saved just before the elven alienage and play to the top of the tower. took about 20-25 minutes per run.

not that it matters.. atleast i dont think it matters. but on a side note during these runs i only used my main character. i didnt bring anyone along.

trophies are abit bugged, but if you keep playing the end, you'll get them eventually. goodluck

Ok, seeing as how this is still a rampant problem (I think), and I found very little to calm my frustrations, I will go ahead and post my story here for others, as I just now, FINALLY, got my Blight-Queller trophy to pop.

On my first play through (with patch 1.01 I believe) - in April, I got the Master Warden trophy during the final battle.

I figured I'd be golden getting the Blight-Queller on the next play through...  I was wrong.

Took 2 more characters through (never amassing near 1000 kills, always about 500 a run), and focusing on only having the PC make the kills, I got frustrated.  Bought Awakening, thinking I could get to 1000 this way.  I did - no trophy.  We're in patch 1.03 now I believe.

Tried running Dwarf Origin for the 500 kills I thought I needed - didn't work.

Did the same for the Alienage - didn't work.

Here's what I figure, seeing as how I restarted last night (walked away from the game in July - picked it up again last night just to try).

I had all the DLC installed (not Song, Golems, or Hunt), as well as the Armor and Awakening bonus.  I did not remove any game content or patches.  I am connected to the servers.  I have Master Warden.  All kills were made by the PC.

I first counted saves prior to the patch and included them with the characters kill count.  I amassed 1018 kills (pre-patch and after patch combined) and still no pop.  I then read that the patches reset counters - Ugh! Posted Image

I reopened a save in the Alienage and started anew.  I used a Templar Warrior with the AoE ability Smite (instant kill on easy dudes - can knock down others).  Repeating the quest again and again (I saved after each successful run and tracked all kills regardless), and starting with 275 kills from the night before, with the current character, I amassed 920 kills from the alienage until the pop, all of which came after installing the patch last night.  Of those, 542 came from today in succession (after I read that turning off the PS3 might reset the counter).

As far as I can tell, when you're exploiting the Alienage for kills, turning off the PS3 (or even leaving the game), will reset the kill counter back to what the character had at the time of the save.  Kills might be stored in a "short-term memory" type of place on the PS3 that is wiped when turned off.  Therefore, it is HIGHLY reccommended you attempt the exploit in one grueling sitting.

Seeing as how my character came into the Alienage with 465 kills and needed 542 to pop the 1000 kill trophy, there is a slight difference of 7 kills.  I attribute this to either another character getting a kill when I accidentally activated them during combat, or using the AoE to obtain my final kills (I paused the game and looked at the kill count as soon as the trophy popped).  7, in the scheme of things, is a rather small give or take.

So, I figure, the kills are not across characters (again, I have all patches installed), you must obtain them with a single character (does NOT have to be your first one), the Alienage trick DOES work (just don't turn off the PS3), and having the DLC installed has no effect (but pretty sure DLC kills don't count, unless the patches ACTUALLY do reset the counters - and if this was true, I would have needed 80 more kills unless I missed 2 runs and am misreading my notes [both likely Posted Image]).

Sorry it's lengthy, but this trophy really pissed me off and I felt that my carefully tracked exploits might be helpful to another poor soul out there in "glitch" land (which I don't believe it is anymore, you just have to know the mechanics of "short term memory").

Huzzah for a well-earned Plat for me!  Posted Image

Question: When doing the Alienage trick, does it matter whether you reload during the fight or must you reload the auto-save after the fight has concluded? I ask because my PC Mage keeps dying (I hold the rest of the party back and do not summon allies, and the General kills him every time, no matter how many AOEs I manage to cast beforehand.) After the PC dies (but before I get a game over, as the other party members are alive) I reload.

I've done this several times and I haven't even gotten the 500 kills trophy, so I'm a bit concerned.

This is what worked for me on xbox all dlc and all patches as of 10-28-2010. I did a solo human noble 2h warrior templar, berserker. I killed every freaking dark spawn that crossed my path and had 654 kills going in to the final battle. So I did the alienage run. When you do the alienage run you have two saved files one right after you talk to the city elfs and receive the quest make sure you tell them to run. Once you do this I proceeded to the gates and killed killed killed complete the quest do not do not leave the alienage go back to elves and take your gift for completing the quest save to your other save. Then reload just before the battle rinse and repeat. I did this 8 times at about 40-60 dark spawn each time. I can be a little tedious but if you want them you may have to do some grinding...
