As Mass effect is a trilogy and an epic one at that, I would be surprised if their isn't a betrayel or two along the way. Just wondering who everyone thinks are the characters that are most likey to betray shephard and the characters they most definitely do not want to see betray Shephard

For me:

Most Likely:

* Liara - For me something just isn't right with her. From historian to information dealer their seems to be a huge change in her character from ME1 to ME2. Also the fact that she is a "pure blood" leaves the door open for an Ardat - Yakshi storyline

* Ashley - She's so pro Alliance I could see her feeling duty bound to follow orders regardless of the impact to Shephard. Not exactly a betrayal but a clash non the less

* Jack/Miranda - Dependent on the decisions you made in ME2 I could see one of these two becoming bitter and seeking revenge on Shephard

Least Likely:

* Wrex/Grunt - Logically because they are Krogan these two would be the first you would expect to turn their back on Shephard if it suited them, but thats exactly why I don't think it would happen, its just too obvious

* Tali: "Why Tali, Why" - I have to admit I would be gutted if Tali turned on Shephard. A LI for some and a geeky little sister to others Tali has been a constant in the Mass Effect series, and by far the most loyal squadmate to Shephard.

My own pick:

* Garrus - I've said it on here before, Shephard and Garrus are very similar, only Shephard is a more successful Garrus. I just think that Garrus could grow to become resentful and jealous of Shephard for enough for him to turn on him

Thane!

If you did his loyalty mission he gets back to speaking with his son and now has something to live for, maybe if someone offered him a cure for his disease he'd be willing to betray shephard?

I could live with that - out of all the characters I never really cared for Thane. I'd happily shoot him in the head and leave him for dead - and his punk son

OK so why would anybody betray the sole person who has a chance of leading the galaxy to surviving the Reaper invasion?

Only way anybody would "betray" is if they were indoctrinated, or retarded.

Ashley would be the best. Her character of anti-aliens could become a large part of that. Plus a LE betraying? So perfect.

I don't think Wrex or Grunt would betray you. Thanks to you Wrex is the most succesful clan chief of Tuchanka and you're Grunt's Battle Master. So if it comes down to the honorable thing, they would stand by you.

Very simple - one example would be the person may feel they are better placed to lead the team to save the galaxy
Betraying Shephard and betraying the galaxy are not neccesserily the same thing

Also who said Shephard was the "Sole Person" who could save the galaxy? - he's part of a team

Ashley I have to admit I don't fully get at this stage. Her reaction to Shephards involvement with Cerberus was worse then anyone elses yet you would think because of her views she would have been the first to give Shephard the benefit of the doubt - very puzzling

i think cerberus employies would be most logical traitors as ilusive man could try and make them pick loyalties.

li betrayals would be kind of cool but to annoying to people who stayed loyal to mass effect 1 LI's two whole games just to be betrayed in the last would be too annoying, besides bioware said people who stay loyal would be rewarded in ME 3 so couldn't see it happening any way

Then what was the point of using ME2's resurrection plot device?  What the hell makes Shepard so important to so many people in the fight against the Reapers?  Why was Liara, the Shadow Broker, and Cerberus looking for his remains?

I'd bet someone on the squad is going to get indoctrinated at some point. I can't really see betraying Shepard to the Reapers for any other reason. People with other strong loyalties yeah.

I can't really see why Garrus would turn on Shepard. Just taking a dislike to Shepard's success seems kind of weak to me. Heck, the times he's hanging around Shepard are pretty much the times things are going best for him. Plus it'd just make him into Sidonis. While he's self-sacrificing in general towards the larger galaxy he doesn't have much affinity for C-Sec, the Council, or the Turian military. He doesn't have anyone to betray Shepard to. At most, I could see him going behind a Paragon Shepard's back if he thought idealism was getting in the way of saving the galaxy. In direct confrontations so far, Paragon Shepard's consistently brought Garrus around to his way of thinking.

So an unloyal Tali I can understand. Especially depending on how you resolve the loyalty mission, if she thinks it'll give the Migrant Fleet an advantage. Loyal Tali, it'd have to be something extreme (like the Flotilla is in imminent danger) but I suppose not impossible.

Unloyal Cerberus members with Paragon Shepard also seems plausible (loyal Miranda I seriously doubt though, she doesn't even like the Renegade option when it's presented if she's there). So does Kaiden/Ashley with a Renegade Shepard (kind of depends on what TIM does in ME3).

Wow, I think I would pick the exact opposite of this!  I'd say the Krogans and Tali are MOST likely.  I know they're friends and all, but they're not human.  And what was it that Ashley said about aliens and dogs in ME1...?  They both have their own people in crisis already, they're primed to snap.  Any human betrayal would just be, well, stupid.  What do they have to gain from sabotaging their own efforts?

Yeah... not going to happen its the least likely considering Legion's N7 armour and admiration ( or whatever "they" have interest in for him)

Unless.. in ME3 we are given an option to destory "his" geth instead of the heretics.:innocent:

I think Wrex is among the least likely if only for the fact that he may not be alive in ME3. The default in ME2 is for Wrex to have died on Virmire - any betrayer would likely be one guaranteed able to come back in ME3.

If Shepard is going to be sold out, I think it's going to be by a secondary character that's been in the game since ME1. Joker might be a possibility. Ashley or Kaidan (whichever is still alive) might also be possibilities, if they continue with the reaction you get on Horizon.
