I don't know if anyone will betray Shep but I could see a definite clash with the Virmire Survivor coming.

We have to keep in mind that at this point we are seeing definite negatives from both the Council and the Alliance concerning Shep. The Cerberus Daily News article is opening the possibility that the Council has wanted to arrest Shep since the Citadel battle. Even if that isn't true, we know they've wanted to marginalize him since Sovereign's attack.

Then there's the Alliance wanting to arrest Shep and interrogate him. It seems only Anderson and Hackett are standing in the way of that.

I think a major clash is coming with the Virmire Survivor. They are clearly not regular Alliance military anymore. They might even be Corsairs now. I honestly think that Ash/Kaiden are going to be coming after Shep and that they will be caught between their emotions (friendship/love) and their duty.

Or maybe it's wishful thinking on my part Image IPB

Ash/Kaidan coming after Shep would be fantastic. I wasn't a fan of either of them, too cardboard cut out for me. Having them actually develop as characters and stick to the "paragon" path would be fun to see.

I really don't trust EDI, there has to be some Cerebus contigency program built into her that TIM can activate if Shepard and crew deviate further from his agenda.

Udina is a self serving weasel and makes an obvious candiate for continual betrayal.

Sometime I suspect Legion is playing a long con on Shepard since he is a master infiltrator. He did mention that the Geth do use misinformation in the past to examine how organics react.

Shepard: I have a strong feeling that someone will betray me; luckily I can always depend on you, Newly recruited squad mate who looks suspiciously like a Reaper with a fake moustache.

Not a Reaper: ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL OF YOUR SUSCPICIONS

This made me laugh out loud, thank you. ^^

I agree!  That would develop them as characters quite nicely.  I can somewhat foresee a grand battle, or series of them, against the Council and Alliance especially, so it would make since if Ash/Kaiden were in a high ranking position in the assault against Shepard.

I could imagine Shepard getting detained by the Alliance, interogated by Ash/Kaidan and then have them break Shepard out once they get a minute to actually talk to their former captain.

Jacob-although Miranda very explicitly resigns from Cerberus if you blow up the Collector Base, he doesn't, and post Sm dialogue gives no indication that he has left either

I think there could be any number of betrayals.

However I'm 100% sure the main on is going to be Anderson.

Liara will never betray shepard, full stop. Tali neither. Garrus is a whole other kettle of fish. He is a leader of men himself, if shepard did/does something to annoy garrus enough he WILL turn.

I highly doubt Garrus would turn on shepard. If they do, I will facepalm.

And most likely this. There isn't really much reason for them to turn on shepard while a bunch of giant machines are about to shove their giant tentacles up the galaxy's ass.. And on top of that most of them probably would not want to go back to the life they used to have before shepard recruited them.

Jacob will be Judas. He acts all principled and is anti-cerb. Yet he still works for them. He's a control that TIM uses to feel out Shep's actions. He's the old Soviet Russia's hidden political officer that acts like your best bud but secretly reports on you and will shoot you in the back if ordered.

And EDI. She's got controls built into her programming. TIM wouldn't let her out of the box without the ability to flip her or kill her at a moments notice.

Well, except for the part if one of those Reapers takes control of a teammate, creating a squaddie you have to kill and yet hate yourself for doing so.  It'd be almost obvious to occur since the irony/coincidence would insue due to Saren being initially indoctrinated, but I kind of hope it doesn't because it could be seen as cliche.  On the other hand, I kind of hope it does happen because I know it will affect my personal emotions heavily.  (Aside from Jacob and Kaiden (he's also dead) I am attached to all the squadmates we've had over the two games)

Don't give them any ranks in their class skill when you level them up, and you'll be a-okay!  :wizard:

(Gameplay and story segregation?  What's that?)

This is an interesting point. At tthe time I was wondering why Jacob mentioned the Corsairs. Bioware don't usually drop pieces of info like that into conversations without a reason

I agree, and thats why I think if its done well, it could really work. Being betrayed by a squadmate and not seeing it coming would be a gut shot no doubt about it. It would really add to the drama

I know this thread is 'finished,' but I just realized that this was mentioned.  Nelly, I think that is an astounding idea (in a good way I mean.)  Having the Virmire Survivor come after Shepard specifically due to their position would fit the bill quite nicely, especially if it's Alliance-bred Ashley.

I could see Liara turning on you (seemed to me that she may have crossed a line she can't come back from). I could see TIM turning on you. I could see the Krogans turning on you. I could see Legion turning on you. I could see the council (in a political move) turning on you.

If Ash and Kaid come after my Shepards, I sure hope it ends up drinking with them on the Normandy.

Given Saren and Vasir's fate, and having already Virmired either of them, I wouldn't want them to betray Shep if they're Spectres or Corsairs.

I cannot see any military body sending an ex crewmate and possible love interest after Shepard. In civvie life, if you have a known interest in something you have to recuse yourself from it, like a judge in a case etc.

I really believe it is extremely unlikely the Alliance would trust Kaidan or Ash to go after Shepard in case old loyalties to the person are stronger than duty! Why take the risk? Send someone who WILL do the job instead!

Thinking about it again, the only one I can reasonably see a motivation for turning on Shepard, is Miranda. It would be awfully short-sighted of TIM to turn Miranda against Shepard by threatening Miranda's sister, but...

I doubt any kind of betrayals. And if it's there, it's redeemable. As said so many times, BW is typically against those gotcha moments where the player will feel deceived by the game. Having someone you've been loyal to since 1-2 games back stab you in the back - someone you might even be in a relationship with -, would not make for a dramatic story. It would destroy the story for a lot of players. They would feel betrayed personally, their image of that NPC shattered, their Shepard they've invested emotionally in, broken. Not just in-game broken, but irl broken as the entire concept of that particular Shepard revolved around the potential LI.

It's a dangerous path to take. There is a reason few movies and games have ever managed to pull such a thing off effectively, and even then they are questionable. Drama is good, some darkness and angst is good. But to reward someone who has invested over a hundred hours into an entertainment by putting a "haha! screw you!" ending in there, to reward them with a feeling of disappointment, sadness and anger, is NOT good business.

If there is to be betrayal, it will be by someone no-one's likely emotionally tied with. Like Udina, the Council, or some random new acquaintances.

cause dont forget if you like her , you will make it with her ....
