Why does everyone see Tali as the least likely to betray Shepard? Depending on your choices, you could have empowered the Geth and made it difficult for the Quarians to retake their home world. I think Tali would be the squad mate most likely to betray Shepard because she already feels betrayed because Shepard made the Geth stronger. And if she was offered a way to retake her home world that required her to betray Shepard, there is no doubt in my mind that she would do it.

If people got over their Tali obsession and looked at it logically, then they too would see this as the most logical conclusion.

logically?

if Tali were to betray shepard, millions from the tali forums would buttrage at Bioware and refuse to provide more profit for the company. Without the financial support of the Talimancers, The mass effect franchise would collapse.

thane would probably die from his disease by ME3. Legion would be reprogrammed or mind controled or some gay shi.t like that. Liara, Jacob, Miranda are most likely to betray shepard

There is NO way to make the hostile Geth stronger in Mass Effect 2. There's no reason why Tali would betray Shepard unless there is a way to help hostile Geth in ME3. When Samara says that she will go after Shepard if Shepard is renegade, saying that Tali is the most likely to betray is incredibly laughable.

I highly, HIGHLY doubt it would be Garrus. In fact I think he would be the last one to ever do such a thing.

I'd rather there not be any betrayal at all, but if there has to be - Samara, Zaeed, or Kasumi if you act in a certain way.

I disagree, Tali has always had a respect for Shephard and in her own view the Geth are allot more then simply machines. Anyone can betray Shephard but I do see Tali as the least likely

Tali gets mad when you rewrite the geth. She says so once her argument with Legion is triggered. At that point you can lose her loyalty. If the Quarians go to war with the geth, who are now more numerous since the rewrite of the Heretics, the Quarians will get wiped out. Who do you think Tali will blame?

Can't really comment on that as in my own save that issue was sorted before their was an issue. Tali was more then happy by the end of it. - But yes if you backed legion in that argument, she would obviously be unhappy but lets face it would you blame her? - Her looking out for her peoples well being does not make her more likely then anyone else to betray Shephard. Look at Wrex's reaction in ME1 - he drew a gun on Shephard.

Also - more paragon/renegade points are needed to calm Mranda and Jack down after their argument then to talk Tali around. That to me would indicate Tali is more loyal to Shephard or simply more ready to listen to reason. Either way to me at least,, that makes her less likely to betray Shephard

I didn't say I would blame her. But her emotions run high sometimes and if the Quarians go to war with a larger Geth army, they will get slaughtered. So even if you don't lose Tali's loyalty, the blame for the Quarians defeat will fall on Shepard's shoulders if you chose to rewrite the heretics, which I bet was a popular choice.

Tali's loyalty will lie with her people before Shepard. If given the choice to save her people and betray Shepard or remain in space and not betray Shepard, I think she will choose the former.

I agree but I think this is true of any race. Even a human would betray Shephard if they felt it was in humanitys best interests. This is a given for all races so therefore its not really relevent in assesing who is most likely as a betrayer

The Alliance as a whole I think.

Liara couldnt be an Ardat - Yakshi because Shepard (Well, many shepards) are already hittin' dat?

Garrus will never turn on Shepard. I just can not see it happening.

"At the age of forty, Morinth, like her other two sisters, was discovered to be an Ardat-Yakshi"

Most likely: Legion or Tali...depending on your actions (I suppose we'll see a geth/quarian war in ME3)

As Mass effect is a trilogy and an epic one at that, I would be surprised if their isn't a betrayel or two along the way. Just wondering who everyone thinks are the characters that are most likey to betray shephard and the characters they most definitely do not want to see betray Shephard

For me:

Most Likely:

* Liara - For me something just isn't right with her. From historian to information dealer their seems to be a huge change in her character from ME1 to ME2. Also the fact that she is a "pure blood" leaves the door open for an Ardat - Yakshi storyline

* Ashley - She's so pro Alliance I could see her feeling duty bound to follow orders regardless of the impact to Shephard. Not exactly a betrayal but a clash non the less

* Jack/Miranda - Dependent on the decisions you made in ME2 I could see one of these two becoming bitter and seeking revenge on Shephard

Least Likely:

* Wrex/Grunt - Logically because they are Krogan these two would be the first you would expect to turn their back on Shephard if it suited them, but thats exactly why I don't think it would happen, its just too obvious

* Tali: "Why Tali, Why" - I have to admit I would be gutted if Tali turned on Shephard. A LI for some and a geeky little sister to others Tali has been a constant in the Mass Effect series, and by far the most loyal squadmate to Shephard.

My own pick:

* Garrus - I've said it on here before, Shephard and Garrus are very similar, only Shephard is a more successful Garrus. I just think that Garrus could grow to become resentful and jealous of Shephard for enough for him to turn on him

Unfortunately because this is a no spoiler forum, I can't really tell you the specifics of this, but I will say that don't expect Liara to be betraying you any time soon. She had extreme motives to get to where she is now and you'll find they actually were in favour of Shepherd.

My guess is Morinth. Hence, Samara say you will regret your decision.

You know what would be great? If some ultraloved character betrayes you in the middle of some kind of panic attack (like Tali while you negotiate with the Geth or something like that) and - depending of the loyalty, paragon/renegade or LI/Not LI - you could be able to bring him/her back or end killing him/her.

You know, with some kind of LONG side quest through several worlds.

Garrus will never betray Shepard. I really don't think Bioware wants Mass Effect 3 to turn into Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

That doesn't even make sense, Vardel. Shepard did not make the heretics hostile in the first place. The geth would not be MORE numerous BECAUSE of the rewrite. The rewrite doesn't strengthen the Heretic geth ffs, rofl. All it does is put a virus in the system that influences the Heretic Geth towards peace with organics.  This is HELPING the Quarians AGAINST the Geth. It's not very hard to understand.

You also seem to ignore my point about Samara, who literally says she will go after Shepard if he acts in ways she doesn't like. Do you STILL think that Tali is most likely? Honestly. Thinking Tali would betray Shepard because he rewrote the Geth is RETARDED.

Why the hell would there be a betrayal arc in the first place? Unless there's some sort of basis for it, adding in a betrayal arc just for the sake of an OMGplottwist moment is stupid.

I am so happy The Illusive Man didn't turn out to be some sort of Reaper agent. God, that would have been retarded.

This...What is with all the tragedy-junkies on here?

"Bioware you need to make the final mission self-sacrificing"
"Bioware you need to kill off the LI in ME3"
"Bioware you need to have someone betray Shepard"
"Bioware you need to make the last mission impossible to beat so the entire galaxy is killed"

Stop it already...Some people here are on a bad emo-trip and should stop posting.

Tragedy makes the story interesting I guess...

Also some people made a good points about the possibilty of betrayal from Tali and it would make things interesting to those who romanced her(me included:whistle:).

Anyways, I think the Alliance(with Kaiden/Ashley) along with some of humanity will betray me because they would believe I'm just a insane rogue soldier who going to ruin everything that humanity has accomplished for themselves.

As for the bolded:
-Sacrificing myself to kill the reaper armada sound cool for a Paragon ending...imo... :innocent:
-killing LIs...depends...:bandit:
-as mentioned above, it makes things interesting :wizard:

Said it before, will say it again- consequences you can do nothing about SUCK. Consequences from choices we've made? OK.

This covers both a potential betrayer (make it one of 3-4 people, depending on how you handled things- I agree, very little chance for it to be a squaddie. Udina would totally sell you out- wouldn't be much of a surprise though.)

An LI death? Make you choose. Shep dies in the end? Only as a result of bad/tragic hero choices. Etc.

If they have betrayal at this stage in the story, it can only end in a ridiculous, completely left field way. When the alternative is galactic genocide, there is absolutely no reason for anyone who already believes in Cyber Jesus to suddenly not.

I doubt there will be a betrayal in the sense of JUDAS as everyone here is talking about. I do think we will see surprising reveals of those who are indoctrinated. Maybe people in high level positions amongs the turians/humans/asari or even the batarians with their supposed capture of a Reaper ship (Leviathin of Dis). Maybe even Admiral Xen turning rogue as well. All of this to split apart the Galaxy before the Reapers come.

If there WERE to be a big betrayal among the crew, I would likely think it would be Liara's choice to be the Shadow Broker. More of a "renegade" choice than an evil one, I think Shepard will have the option of using her as an ally or outright rejecting her or something similar.
