It'll probably be anderson. He fits the bioware betrayal bill well.

.

He really, really does. They do enjoy the whole parent/mentor betrayal thing. lol (I harbor a concern that for this reason, Garrus or Tali would be put on the betrayor path by the devs as an inverse of this trend: Shep sort of mentors both of them in a way, even though it'd be totally OOC unless there was a massive underlying story we've not yet been made aware of yet there).

I could see Kaiden/Ashley betraying Shep, but only because they thought they were serving a greater good. They've already showb on Horizon that they do not believe in Shep's methods now.

I can't see it being an LI for the sake of it being an LI, but I also don't think that being an LI excludes a character from being a possible betrayer. (It might actually be cool to have the romances play out very differently fromone another, since at the moment they all have much the same end).

At this point, playing 'spot the Judas' could really let you point to anyone and come up with a reasonably feasable explanation. lol. Fun game. :police:

Betrayal is nothing new, it's neither original nor necessarily going to add to the plot.Since we are kind of talking about Garrus here, I find betrayal by him very doubtful. He's not going to turn into Saren, he's nothing like Saren. Garrus knows the big picture which is to defeat the Reapers. And he sure as hell knows Shepard is the only one who could do that.

Alternative traitor - Grunt - he does have collector/reaper technology in his make-up.

Grunt is a purified hybrid clone of several warlords genetic makeup, there's no reaper or collector technology anywhere on him, wth gave you that idea? Image IPB

The only one who'd might betray Shepard in some way is Udina, and possibly the turian council member because they're both d***s.

From my increasingly fallible memory, Okeer tells Shepard that he bargained with the collectors to obtain the technology that he used to make Grunt, besides which, and less seriously,  Grunt's armour resembles the human reaper's body!

The technology to splice and purify krogan genome and give him the memories of the warlords he cloned him from, both okeer and grunt says it clear as day, grunt is a pure krogan. The tankbred krogan we killed in ME1 were cloned from just one krogan each, krogan is composed of several which obviously makes it harder.

They are not above using an Li as a Judas. In JE, they originally put Sky as betraying the Spirit Monk at the end, by making a deal with Death's Hand

I think what's most likely is Shepard betraying some of the crew, especially if he's renegade. Probably get a choice between killing either Legion or Tali as part of a mission to get the Quarians or the Geth on your side.

On their own I can't see any of the squadmates betraying Shepard, because by virtue of being on Shepard's team they are some of the few people 'in the know' about the threat posed to all galactic life by the Reapers. If for no other reason they wouldn't betray Shepard simply out of a desire for self preservation.

Now if indoctrination was introduced into the storyline, any of the squad members is a possibility. The process of indoctrination strips them of their free will and turns them into pawns of the Reapers, so even the most loyal of squadmates is susceptible. In fact if Bioware went that route and had a squadmate become indoctrinated and betray you, I'd bet on it being one of the squadmates seen as being most loyal. Garrus or Tali for example, or the person you chose as a love interest.

It won't be a squad member and it definitely won't be a LI.

OP is retarded for picking 5 LI that he thinks will betray us.

What a wonderfully intelligent post. Thankfully you came in after nine pages to point out my short comings. I think your a real life hero

I agree. My team is loyal for a reason. Not to mention people mentioning Miranda, in my playthrough she quit Cerberus. She betrayed TIM to stay on your side, why would she be one of the most likely candidates?

Why would Miranda be a likely candidate?  Because TIM is keeping Miranda's sister safe.  Her sister means more to her than her quickie with Shepard I would imagine.

When Miranda quits Cerberus, they are on an unreachable space station far from TIM's influence.  She could quite possibly play along with Shepard until they return, in which case she is in a fantastic position to be TIM's mole.  She's now (to all appearances) a trusted member of Shepard's crew instead of loyal to TIM and Cerberus.  I'd say she's a great candidate for the "Judas".

Edit:  Forgot to add that she has been incredibly confident in Cerberus' ability to defeat the Reapers for the entire game.  Her sudden change of heart when she has no other option except to take on Shepard and his crew seems suspect.

I think either Ashley or Kaidan, whichever one you let die in ME1. Or maybe its even possible that anyone could betray you, just like anyone can die in ME2.

I think  that Miranda couldn't betray Shepard because

* if she was that really loyal for Cerberus she did't allow to destroy colector base because in this base were reapers technology which is very very important for cerbeus and Tim

* in Me2 we seen that only one person saved Miri sister and this person is o course Shepard not Cerberus i think she that from this moment she was really loyal for shepard

* she and TIM know that Shepard is only person who can stop reapers

I think that nobody from squadmate  can betray Shepard because all of then can die in finaly mission Miranda too ;]

but this is only my opinion

sorry for my spelling

Most Likely:

* Liara - For me something just isn't right with her. From historian to information dealer their seems to be a huge change in her character from ME1 to ME2. Also the fact that she is a "pure blood" leaves the door open for an Ardat - Yakshi storyline

i disagree with the ardat yakshi bit, because shep can sleep with her and live. so, that seems unlikely.

but i think liara is either going to be a really tragic death OR betrayer OR both. she's the only person who has to live to ME3. anyone else could die or not be recruited at all. i don't think they spared her just to use her in the cover art for the box.

I'm still convinced after LOTSB that their will be a betrayal of Shepard in some form.

Anyone changed their view since LOTSB ?

What, as in Liara betraying you? I can almost guarantee that won't happen.

Honestly, I think it might be Anderson or Hackett more than anything.

I think Liara might turn evil, but she won't be a betrayer if that makes sense.

No not necesserily Liara, just one of the squadmates in ME1 or ME2.

I could still see Garrus doing something

I can't see a willing Judas, unless it's the Turian Councillor. But he was never on Shep's side in the first place.

Someone getting indoctrinated? The LI, for extra melodrama? Bioware already did it, kinda, in BG2. Only you could bring him or her back. But I could see someone getting indoctrinated, the chat with Vigil already hints at this being part of Reaper strategy at weakening enemy defenses. What better way to get back at Shep for ruining their schemes twice?

Just to clarify, when I say betrayal I don't neccesserily mean a betrayal of epic proportions such as siding with the reapers. I mean more of a betrayal against Shepard personally.

I don't see Garrus going that route. Tali might, though, if the situation with the geth gets bad enough.

Realistically I don't see it happening. But theirs just a part of me that always saw Garrus as wanting to be Shepard but not quite measuring up.  I could just see him getting jealous of Shepard and then bitter.

Would it be wrong of me to hope for an option for Sheperd to betray his squadmates of such epic proportions not seen since the top of the Rakatan temple? (oh and the bit afterwards when Zaalbar... well, you know...)

I even miss and see Ashley Williams put her hand on her weapon, I'll blow a smoking hole through her N7 chest plate. Horizon was bad enough!
