Wow, I find this kind of insulting. Are you going to charge me $2 for a santa hat on christmas too, how about $2 for an easter egg? My goodness Bioware, at least the Mass Effect team released a slew of free mini-DLC packs before resorting to the usual rabbit feces DLC. Yes, yes, yes, I've heard your mantra many times "We're just doing it for those poor customers who love extra Dragon Age goodies."

So, when will horse armor be available for $5?

It amuses me that it was free for a console at one point with RtO, now to use it they have to pay for it. If I sold am oil lamp to one of my customers and gave them a sampler package of fragrance oils as a bonus, they'd expect to keep the oils for free. If I changed my mind and wanted to charge for the oils I wouldn't go after folks who've already bought. That's a darn good way to lose customers. Remember guys, you can always bring the price down- going up is a lot trickier.

What makes me fuming mad about this "content" is how most other game companies give holiday/anniversary content away for free. I'm certainly not paying for my spring festival goodies in LOTRO. Heck, even non-subscription based RPGs like Guild Wars offer special pets and items for free during special events.

Bioware should give a little something-something back to the fans after 15 years of loyalty. Of course, I'm thinking that EA has their grubby little hands all over this deal.

Meh. I'm willing to donate 3 quid to Bioware for amusement's sake. It's, what, £1.50ish? I donated more than that to the violin-playing busker in the town I work in. There you go, Bioware. Don't spend it all in one place. ;)

As soon as there is an official working patch to fix the issues introduced with the 1.03 patch (which is a requirement to use this Festday DLC btw), I will be more than happy to use this DLC.

And thank you for a fun DLC on April Fools... just wish I could actually use it.

It is against Electronic Arts company policy to give anything away for free, including patches.

Honestly I think whoever came up with the idea of DLC should be flayed with a rusty spoon.

What a waste of Money, could have simply read up on this through the forums and NOT bought.(Console commands=save money for PC) Here I thought they'd have cut-scenes for each gift/prank.(what a fool for thinking that) Oh and did I mention that even this DLC is buggy.(wrong +/- variations)

FFuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....

yeah, made the same mistake, bought the crap without doing any "research"... I mean, I thought it would at least be like the special companion gifts with their own scenes, but this... this is really pathetic...

Are the gifts supposed to alter your approval ratings? I don't mean the number - I mean the 'warm at 100' vs 'love at 100.' That would seem to be a bit of a problem. (I did mine on early saves in characters who had already completed Awakening, so it didn't matter to me, but if I start a new Origins person, I'd like to avoid a bug that alters romances.

Unfortunately, it appears that at least some people are seeing a bug that affects the message (warm/love/etc.) but this doesn't affect the romance itself.

ah, so you can charge for a DLC that does less than most mods do and can't even keep it bug-free? Well done, BioWare! I don't think I will be buying anything from you guys in the near future!

To pay for a dlc that includes 10 gifts its just stupid. Instead I suggest you give a present to your family or friends, not to computer characters. Keep up supporting this kind of DLC, the future of pc games looks just great with this new fashion way to get money by releasing poor and not so poor dlc... Dont complain when in a few years the only way to get games will be just by internet donwload, and paying alot of money "dlc" which are supposed to be included for free

so true... even though the 3,50€ (thanks to having to buy 400 BW points) don't hurt my wallet too much, I still feel ripped off! I was expecting some REAL content, not this..this.. whatever...

Bassooner wrote...

I remember the good old days when there was no such thing as DLC because most people didn't have access to the internet. Then I remember the days not so long ago when DLC was free. Then I remember just yesterday when you spent actual money on DLC (not points). Nowadays, you buy more points than you need because the smallest amount you can purchase are 400. Thus, you spend $5 on something that is advertised for $3, all the while wishing Bioware would fix the frame-rate issues for 64-bit operating systems created by the 1.03 patch. Just bend me over and call me Sally. . . .

This.

The gifts were funny since they at least had some special abilities and items. But pranks... I paid to just see a -50 approval sign?? Bleh...

Cute idea, but not worth paying for. I could easily just read up on it or see it on YouTube and save my money. You give me a 20 to 30 minute DLC, count me in on paying and happily paying the 5 to 10 USD you want for it. But this? Nah, I'll just buy a coffee instead... will last longer.

I think a lot of people should stop blaming the concept of "DLC" and start blaming the corporations, and more specifically developers *cough* Bioware, Bethesda, plethora of shooters *cough.* I'm not pissed that Bioware is releasing DLC, I'm pissed that Bioware is releasing the worst, most unpolished DLC I've seen from any other company; I never thought I'd see the day.

I thought this dlc was a joke. I can get it to pay for armor and appearance stuff (like I did pay for my Nariko costume on LBP) but for a prank gift for a fictional character whose equally fictional and easily swayed approval of me will be the only affected thing? No, thanks. It would be nice if you guys got working on all the DAMN FRAMERATE ISSUES that plague the Awakenings Patch on PS3, or finally managed to get the freaking RTO DLC to ASIA PSN.

Getting pretty greedy now aren't we Bioware? Guess the EA assimilation is pretty much complete at this point.

Right, I take my words back, I've tried other pranks and see that some of them actually give items/abilities. But should be all of them really. Yeah the pranks for Sten and Shale are quite cool, and the one for Dog is cute, but, for example, Morrigan and Alistair? Just a book for each of them to see approval drop and that's it? Did you get lazy half-way or what?

"Takes away the dignity" -  Said Thibbledorf26  -  No I don't believe it does that. It adds a bit of fun.
Seriously, if it offends you that much, then don't buy it and don't use it.
As for the cost, there is already quite a bit of free DLC available, this one in particular I assume would be classed as Off-Canon so $2 for it means only people who want it will buy it. If it was free everyone would download it anyway, this way gives BioWare / EA a good indication of how much of their customers are interested and what they're prepared to spend for new content. Market research, low cost, new content. I'm all for it.

Someone that gets it <3.
It's the exact same thing with the new skins for ME2 chracters (the difference is that I would pay for this, I would not pay for the ME2 skins. I guess someone else might have the exact oposite opinion). "Everyone" downloads free DLC, by slapping a small fee Bioware will get a general idea of what kind of DLC the comunity wants. Nothing wrong with complaining that this DLC is crap and not worth it. But all the "doom and gloom" is getting slightly out of hand.

And the dignity someone complained about... seriously, Biowares games have always had lots of humor. Have you actualy played Baldurs Gate recenently. Jokes refering to South Park, Judge Dredd, Ren and Stimpy, Steinbeck, Nancy Sinatra and uncountable other cultrual characters and events and to top it all of we have a deranged ranger that talks to his rodent and a necromancer thats on the emotional level of a carrot. The amount of sane NPCs in that game can be counted on one hand. Humor is an important aspect of drama and both need to coexist to make a balance that most people appreciate.

I am really enjoying using this little DLC! :D

Oh things like this appeal to the child in me for sure. I have been throwing sticks for my dog Romeo a lot and having a great laugh at poor Leliana wearing those horrid boots! :wizard:

What about Stens sword with butterflies coming out!!?? Thats cute and funny! I wish I had a wand with butterflies or lovehearts, well poor Sten has to use this sword now, lol.

I am eager to get to my next companions, to see what horrors and fun await them! Image IPB

This reminds me when we were young, one Christmas we had a friend of my brothers come to visit, it was last minute and we had no presents for him so as a joke we wrapped up a whole pile of silly things like my brothers rock collection and a dog toy and a couple of other terrible things. The poor guy was so thrilled to see we had gifts for him and it turned out to be a terrible joke! Oh we didnt laugh then to see his disappointment but when I look back I can't help but laugh at our innocence and the fun of it.

Well anyway I love this sort of thing and certainly don't mind paying a few points for it. I have had a lot of smiles and fun! What a novel idea! Image IPB

Image IPBTHANK YOU BIOWARE I AM HAVING FUN WITH MY NEW TOYS! Image IPB

i actully liked the DLC, it was very fun, i dont see why people are saying they didn't like it and what not..... i didn't even see them use the items, cause i did it at the end of my 5th play through, it dosn't bother me though, i plan on enjoying it on all my other play throughs.... people give bio-ware props, they could do better, but as a ps3 player im glad to just be getting any dlc at all
