Need I say more?
I think since they're making a mmo out of KOTOR, then why not Mass Effect?
The game's certainly big enough. At first I just wanted a multiplayer mode, but i think this would be cooler.
And as Awesome as it would be, it would be amazing if you pulled it off on a console with or instead a pc.
Hey your Bioware, You can do anything right?!?

This.  They're not even done with the trilogy yet, and they'd need a few more SP spinoffs to gain the kind of popularity an MMO would need.  Keep in mind that SWTOR has the Star Wars brand (and quite a few disillusioned Galaxies fans) to line its player base.

Congratulations! This is the threethousandfourhundredtwentyseventh thread about this!

And guess what? The answer to that idea is still "NO WAY" :)

Thanks for not using the Search function at the top of the forum page :)

I'd play an ME MMO in the future. Right now I think they need to finish off the trilogy, do a spinoff or two, and get a bigger fanbase. It wouldn't survive without some real support.

Agree, it does need a bigger fanbase to be worth it to bioware. Personally I think it should stay single, but I know the popularity of MMO's.

MMOs can make a company tons of money if they have a big enough fan base. The fanbase for star wars is a lot larger than mass effect. Mass Effect has got a lot of things going for it to see that happen.

I personally dislike MMOs, I prefer single player games. I have not seen single player games made after an MMO. It would be disheartening for me if they made an MMO for Mass Effect because it would lower the chances of a single player game being made afterwards.

And that's the downfall to MMO's. I like them actually, I'm no hardcore junkie about them, but they're fun for a while. But, when you take a franchise and MMO it, you don't see anything else from the franchise after that. Star Wars was a good choice for an MMO because it won't kill it. It's too big as it is.

assuming money starts being raked in from ToR then Bioware can make a badass ME MMO. Though they would have to tread carefully to make it good.

one of these posts pop up every now and then, always a mixed reaction, with the "NO crowd" always going into a frothing-at-the-mouth rage

chances of an ME MMO are slim i think, for various reasons, one mainly not wanting to compete with their other mmo TOR probably.

but i think there are a lot of things that would be great in an ME MMO, there aren't many Sci-Fi FPS MMO out there, and so much different things they could do with customization, your personal ship, decorate your captain quarter with a large variety of options, and the captain quarter could be different size and variety depending on the ships class/level...just to start

i'm really hoping once TOR releases, and in a year or two after, see how well its done, what has worked, what didn't, then use that info in making an ME MMO, by that time we'd see ME3 for sure, and maybe another game

but who knows what will happen.

i like MMOs actually. my husband and i have been playing final fantasy XI for years. he hated RPGs and playing FFXI had him hooked. now he can't stop playing XIII.

MMOs can be good too.

on that note, i remember reading something about a Firefly MMO? i know it's off topic but it would be cool to have something like that. Firefly was too good to be so short lived.

Exactly, FPS MMOs are hard to come by plus if they put it on a console they wouldn't have to compete.

Why o why does every franchise need to be transformed into an MMO? I can understand why Star Wars, Star Trek and LoTR get an MMO, they're all huge (and commercially succesful) franchises.

It is such a good brand, with such a rich universe that spinoffs are pretty much guaranteed.  But wait a few years until SWTOR gets going to see how that will end up.

Every setting touched by MMOs get forever destroyed.

I hope bioware never turns ME or DA into a multiplayer setting.

idk. Mass Effect would be kinda cool in like a Halo/MW style. but if they make it like a MMO, like warcraft or soon to be TOR, it would defeat the story, and the ideal of ME.

I do think it would good to see it as a coop or fps. but i think it is better the way it is. its like trying to make something that is perfect, into a genre full of bugs

The ME universe is a great setting for a MMO however with TOR coming out in about two years one would assume they would first want to see how that did before investing the resources into another mmo and you would think that they would want to give TOR at least 5 years.

Really the size required to maintain a MMO depends on the business model and what the company is going for.  Too many companies try to go for a WoW sized population and it's just not going to happen.  I mean lookat Everquest 1, that's still going after howmany years?  A loyal customer base is all that is required to carry a game, and even if it's not a well known name or brand, if it's a good game, MMO fans will play it.

Well you could always try a 10 day trial to WoW or some other game to get a feel for the MMO genre, no they aren't turn based and neither is every RPG.
