I weep for the human race when people aren't able to discern the matchmaking thing on Blizzard's site was merely a (very weak) April Fools joke.

As to how the ignorant, stupid huddled masses haven't been able to destroy the species is truly a miracle.

But how many people fell for that, and how many people are just argueing to argue.  At least, i hope most people didn't fall for it.

Also, my take on it:

"Blizzard or Bioware"

Yes.Posted Image

Blizzard Games Soulless?

*Cough* Warcraft 3 + Starcraft *Cough*

They can easily hold up with some (note, I said not all) Bioware Games.

Blizzard is pure win.. Bioware will never be as professional and good at making games unless they ditch EA

Blizzard probably sold more copy with just WoW than all bioware games put all together. While Blizzard is only working with the PC.

Wich is the best one at making games ? This is a no brainer. Blizzard completly blow bioware in outer space. But Bioware still makes good games. If Bioware didn't try to chase the consol market they might be on par with Blizzard. SWTOR could be bioware rebirth :)

Beceause with BG2 they were almost on par with Blizzard... But they wanted consol fast and easy buck and screwed their potential while chasing that rabbit.

Let's talk about release dates:

Starcraft - 1998, Starcraft 2 (first episode) - to be released in 2010, 12 years

Diablo 2 - released in 2000, Diablo 3 - to be released in 2011, maybe 2157, min. 11 years

Mass Effect - released late 2007, Mass Effect 2 - released early 2010 - 2 years

Dragon Age - 2010, Dragon Age 2 (?) - early 2011 - 1 year

They both release epic games, but my vote goes to Bioware, because I don't have to wait a decade to play their games.

With or without EA,Blizzard was and is still better at creating games.

That doesn't mean that everyone will like the type of game or the content that goes with it,but the quality is always there.Blizzard wouldn't release an expansion like Awakening or game with lack of polish like Dragon age.

Now,Blizzard aren't marvelous storyteller and the writing is basic and juvenile. The main strength of Blizzard is creating great gameplay and being very good as multiplayer as well.Bioware games have vastly superior writing and you can relate to numerous characters, but they are one notch below in term of having the knack for great gameplay (I don't think Bioware would be able to make a good Diablo clone and Blizzard wouldn't pull off a Dragon age).

This is the main reason as to why I'm worried about The old republic.I am not sure that they will be able to pull off the raiding well, since you need  interesting trash mob pack+creativity in your bosses design.I think they will struggle in the first few years of SWTOR since they lack a proper gameplay first philosophy (and most people who play mmorpg aren't there for the stories or you will have fools ruin the experience for everyone else in the group).

So true. I work helpdesk at my job sometimes. It's insane how stupid people can be. "My monitor is all black and nothing is showing up on the screen."

Yeah, I had to go to their office and demonstrate how to hit the power button. <_<

Blizzard games=replay value. They make quality, addictive games, and I look forward to Diablo 3. No, the writing isn't as good as Bioware's. But whose is?

A polished turd is still a turd. Not that Blizzard games are, but I don't like this "polished" argument. For me, their RTSes are very average. SC1 was cool in its time, but it's been surpassed since. WC3 was just very plain (though the story was pretty good). At the end of it all, their games just don't leave a lasting impression on me.

Bioware games however... when a Bioware game ends, there's usually this emptiness that'll take a few days to go away. The memory doesn't go away that easily. I still have fond memories of Baldur's Gate II.

I know it's subject to taste and all, but I guess I'm just befuddled at the praise Blizzard gets for making very average games, when much better developers seem to fall by the wayside.

...maybe because Blizzard is a good developer?

Maybe you consider BioWare a better developer, and in many ways it is, but you don't exactly get to make sweeping, completely 'Bioware/Blizzard is so and so'. And maybe 'emptiness' is a bad word to use? It implies that the game has left you empty, which is exactly a game shouldn't do. I still play Baldur's Gate II, because it did not do exactly that. I was sad it was over and that we were likely to never receive another, but I was grateful for the game and hours upon hours of experience that it gave me.

Blizzard gets so much praise because it deserves it. Period. You may not enjoy their games as much as some other people, but don't pretend Blizzard hasn't made massive contributions to the industry and how somehow other talented developers are falling to the wayside because of how popular they are. As I recall, BioWare is winning this overglorified popularity contest, is it not?

Also, FYI? It felt very bittersweet for me after StarCraft: Brood War ended. As much as the best BioWare game and far more than the worst (NWN can be one that I can truly consider me feel empty, which is not praise at all). Above-average games don't have entire channels devoted to them, e-sports revolving around them and a community still going strong after more than ten years.

I don't even understand why we're going 'hurr durr blizzard is better/worse than bioware'. Blizzard is primarily an RTS company. Has BioWare ever made an RTS? Apples and oranges.

We MUST all keep voting both in the poll and on Twitter. The Blizzard supporting fools were getting real smart about 2 hours ago when BioWare was only ahead by ~390 votes and they thought they could catch up or something. Now we're up 532 votes but that's not enough....not even close to enough. We have to crush every last drop of hope out them so they can learn their place.

I support Blizzard. I suppose I am a fool.

My place has been learned. Sorry, great one for having more than one preferred developer. I guess I missed the conference where it declared overglorified popularity contests serious business and that we have just recently introduced an 'us versus them' policy.

Gentlemen!

While BioWare is battling Blizzard, 'Zynga' is only a few votes behind Valve in the other poll.

Zynga developed 'games' such as FarmVille and Mafia Wars. If you don't have a Facebook account, you probably never heard of them. Basically, they are glorified flash games.

I want BioWare to be in the finals against Valve, a real game developer, not some flash game developer who only got this far because they offer their players bonus items for voting.

So, please, vote for Valve, here: http://www.escapistm...ynga-vs-1-Valve

They probably can't hear all their hope being crushed and their places being put over the sound of their golden money showers.

Hard to say without seeing them in person but if they do not they very well should.....and then they should get around to making true RPGs where the story and choices and actual role playing are more important than truck loads of useless gear to micromanage through and ruining a good game by making it multiplayer/MMO.

The day Blizzard rejects their game ruining ways I'll be the first to support them.

Amusing but irrelevant. Get out of here Blizzard supporter....shouldn't you be somewhere where you're actually wanted??
