My worry about the Auctions

Yeah, didn't work so well.
Makes me worried about how hard their servers are going to get hit when the bidding opens, maybe it won't be so bad b/c its only US user that can attempt to bid, but man would it suck to miss out on something because you couldn't get the page to load.

That's what I'm hoping, but its hard to tell how many people we have hording tokens just based off the forums.Xapctag wrote...
We'll see, I guess. Maybe a lot of people were expecting game news that's why they flooded the site. Now that everyone knows what is happening the traffic might subside.
Hopefully the IT people at BioWare are gearing up to be hit by every community user at once.

I know what you mean. But I bet the hardest hit items will be the big ones, such as the computers. I know I probably won't even try for those.

You should definitely try for them, after all, others will be having the same problem you are!

Why not? You dont lose your tokens if you make an unsuccessful bid so you might as well throw all of your tokens at it, I know there is a small chance of winning but hey what do you have to lose?

Yeah I hope they are ready for the traffic as well. Hopefully it will be ok in the morning hours.
They won't be. It will go down. Especially during the auctions for the better items.

All your tokens, if you accidently win, but were mostly hoping for something smallerMr Mxyzptlk wrote...

Hmm so what would you rather win? A $2000 computer or something smaller that you could probably buy from the Bioware shop?

Well, I already have a badass rig that runs Crysis at full settings.Mr Mxyzptlk wrote...

So basically I'd just be getting it for the sweet artwork if I won. I suppose I could sell my current rig or something. I'd also feel a little bad that I won a gaming rig, when I already have one ... only a little bad though:whistle:
I was mostly joking around with that comment though.

Let's say a computer does go up.
I don't think many people are going to have a "watch service" ready to go when that happens - and even those that do are going to be the big token players. The smaller ones will realize they don't have a chance at the $100+ items and won't even bother after the first few.

This is assuming they won't give us order that things will be going up in, either way I can't imagine this sort of thing not putting a lot of demand on their servers.Rive Caedo wrote...
I'm not sure how big a problem this will be since the auctions are rotating - not all going up at once - and only last 15 minutes.

Actually it could be interesting depending on the order they auction the items, hopefully they auction the smaller items first and auction the bigger items at the end, that way people will have to think about how they spend their tokens, do they blow it on the smaller stuff or save it for the chance to win the bigger stuff?
That would help the people with few tokens, but the people it would hurt the worst would be the ones of us that are working really hard to get a lot of tokens for big items, then we don't find out until it's too late that there are some bot-happy cheaters that have double what we do that buy all the good stuff, and we're left with nothing.

I would hope a $2000 PC could do more than that, I mean you can max out Crysis on a sub-$900 computer if you build it correctly.
