You may look at the video card rankings list. You will see that only ATI and nVIDIA are represented there.
Intel has never been able to produce a usable 3D video device, and the one you have is no better than their usual "awful" level. You would have needed to add a real video card, if that had been a desktop PC, but it's not, and you need a new laptop because what you have cannot have its video upgraded, sorry.

I would not even consider playing 3D intensive games on an integrated Intel GPU chipset. (even if it allowed me to )
That's a basic display meant for handling a 2D display and little more.
You must be confusing your business laptop with a gaming machine.

Moderately often, the game's routines produce that error message as a result of broken-down software links so that the system responds incorrectly. The easiest fix, if in fact you do verify your video device meets the requirements, is installing the latest video drivers. If that doesn't do it, try with the latest Dx9 version (even Vista and Windows 7 PCs must have Dx9 to play this game, and the DVD has a copy that it will install when it doesn't detect the presence of Dx9).
The last sensible repair option is reinstalling the game. If that fails, I would say that you are out of luck, because I don't consider a repair install of Windows to be a suitable procedure for an average gamer to have to go through.
On the other hand, most of the time this happens, the offending device is an Intel video chip, with just plain ancient video devices in second place. You can add an actual video card if you have a desktop PC, or you can replace the machine if it's a laptop. Or try to take the game back and trade it for something that a junk video chip CAN play, in 2D, such as Hoyle's card games, Mah Jong, or Bejeweled. .
P. S. Just in case anyone new pulls up this thread in a search sweep for the error message involved, there are other causes for the error message to appear besides the purely mechanical failure of the graphics hardware, or a software screwup in drivers + Direct3D + game. You also can't mix screen settings among various types of display ratios. Check other threads from the search you've made for more information.
