Also I find it strange that you love Diablo 2 when it is almost nothing but repetitive clicking. If DA:O is so thoughtless, what does that make Diablo 2?

Thoughtlessier? :D

I bought Diablo II and Icewind Dale on the same day (close to or at their release).  Diablo II I enjoyed for a few hours, then I switched to Icewind Dale and disappeared for a couple weeks.

That said, I returned to Diablo II (albeit some 4 or 5 years later) and had a blast again.  I look forward to Diablo III.

I live in a world where I can enjoy both Blizzard and Bioware and put up with their nefarious corporate liaisons (Activision and EA respectively).

Of course, I remember when Activision was challenging Atari's authority back in the 2600 VCS days, and when Electronic Arts (with its original cube/sphere/pyramid or circle/square/triangle logo) was a gathering of developers  producing such bar-setting games as Archon, M.U.L.E., Seven Cities of Gold, Pinball Construction Set…

I won't argue that the game isn't bug-free(on the technical side of things DA:O is a little behind where it should be), but what makes DA:O an unfinished game?

Hm... I was suggesting that these might be the things the previous poster wanted in a game, not what I necessarily want in a game. And I didn't mean that DA was thoughtless (to even suggest such a thing would be preposterous) - I was actually talking about Diablo when I mentioned 'thoughtless clicking'.

I consider DA to be unfinished because of a lot of the bugs you mention. The talents, for example - a lot of the talent descriptions bear no relation to what the talents actually do. If the game had been finished properly then the talent descriptions would have been changed to reflect their practical uses rather than contradict them.

No worries, I can see how my post might have been confusing :)

Still, if one considers Dragon Age to be BioWare's lowpoint and thinks Blizzard is worthless, I'd say one is in quite a curious situation - we are talking about an extremely demanding game-taste to say the least. And something is severely amiss if Sonic Chronicles is to be considered a better game than Dragon Age. :)

DA is biowares lowpoint when it comes to games that present any real challenge and high replayability.  The story isn't everything and that is what DA is trying to survive on.  Although after a second run through you have seen about all the dialogue you need to or ever will want to.  It's pretty sad though when one sets the game on the hardest setting possible and snoozes through the combat.  There's nothing DEMANDING about DA in the least bit.

Some of blizzards older titles and early WoW were promising and provided some real strategic content.  The blizzard we see today though is all about catering to lazy gamers that want everything handed to them in a few minutes.  I can't really fault them though as it is a money formula and a license for them to print money.

You know, considering you haven't even made it through Ostagar without dying over 3 characters, I would say you are overstating your mastery of the combat system a little.

I love Dragon Age because it is a roleplaying game that feels like a roleplaying game. I get to make choices that have different outcomes, and it feels like those choices mean something to the character.

Although I like Bioware I just can't vote for them against Valve.

Valve have made so many good games but on top of it they changed the way I buy games and how I install them, manage them with Steam. IMO Valve did much more for computer gaming than Bioware ever did.

yeah, if the vote was purely over who makes the best games then it would be an almost impossible vote.  They both make some epic games, but possibly a slight edge to Bioware simply because they've made more.

When you include the other stuff Valve have done though, i'd have to vote for them.  I love steam and I don't think PC gaming as a whole would be the same without it.  Games for Windows Live is an utter failure of a platform (****** off xbox live wannabe) and while other digital distribution services like Impulse/Stardock have nothing really wrong with them, they just pale in comparison to what Steam provides.  Even if Stardock 'did it first' lol.

At any rate, we should all be glad that two legitimate and worthy developers are there and not a bloody facebook/iphone developer or whatever the hell zynga are.
