Who says male players have any problems with Alistair? The guy had me fall for him with my female Cousland.

Stupid sexy Alastair, he made me transsexual.

...so say the countless "Alistair is a whining wimply shemale" posts and/or entire threads.  You do hear this from female players as well, but a lot of that seems to come from males.  There have even been numerous threads where male players are wondering what women see in Alistair's character.

I've seen those kind of posts/threads. Some of them aren't too bad, though others...

I highly doubt it's jealosy, or at least I doubt it's only factor which leads people to make "hate Alistair" posts.

What??  You must know some weird girls.  :P

This is my husband to a tee, minus the poetic, and I can assure you that he's the one I was looking for my whole life and didn't think existed.  And I bet many other women would say the same.  I mean, there's a reason that Alistair has so many fangirls.  It is male players who seem to have more of a problem with his character.  Personally I put that down to jealousy.  LOL

Aw well, just wished it were true. Like I said, I love the guy. I see a lot of myself in him except that I started my devotion to women very very early and I licked my first lampost at 15. With a girl I loved very much. It's been some 30 years since then, I had my fair share of romance, for which I'm, grateful. I could only compose anything when I was in love, not necessarily with a person or together with that person when it was the case. And while my songs are not all about love, in the ones that are I try to say something about "good love" or inconditional love. It is a gift.

Maybe I'm just a bit bitter because it took some 20 years to the girl who inspired most of my songs to realize she loved me and by then she was already married with 2 kids, I had already travelled the world and fell in love a number of times but ended up stuck in a relationship with "Alex Forrester". If you don't know who that is, watch "Fatal Attraction"!

When I tried to finally live out my great love story, it almost became a tragedy and to preserve my muse's integrity I had to give it up. And being without real contact with a woman for many long years kinds put my passion to sleep. Better than being responsible for putting them to "sleep" though, if you know what I mean. But who knows what the future has stored for us. My "fatal attraction could have a fatal heart attack... <eg>

Pitty you girls here don't speak my language and thus can't understand my songs. They're all up on my website and on MySpace too. Just remember, never marry your manager, specially if she's jealous of your songs, your past and is a psychopat! =)  (who can't understand a word of English and is a neanderthal with PCs and games and forums! Gladly!)

Oh, and my female Cousland chose Alistair over Zevran too, like OldMan's. But she's actually more interested in the throne and Zev would be a side play if it were possible!

Oh, the utter devotion of Zevran would be fabulous - but I think that's absolutely the problem with guys like him - women think they can change their ways and end up thinking they'll be the one who'll do it - but in reality those sorts of relationships often end up abusive. So yes, if I met someone like Zev and he did change maybe I'd take him over Alistair. None of the men like Zevran I ever met have EVER changed though :). Whereas my husband is also an Alistair type!

Out of curiosity, have you actually done the Zevran romance from beginning to end?  He is very different than how he first appears.  He doesn't change but he does fall in love.  However, the initial impression he gives off has a lot more to do with survival than the type of person he really is. If you get to know him, you may learn this.  You may not.  But he's a very in-depth character; there's a LOT more going on than what is on the surface.

Still there's the third option (Leliana) - that's a compromise, no?

I think the thing I'm trying to get across here is not that Zev or Alistair are better, it's that neither of them are close enough to real life types for us to be having the discussion. My husband is more like Alistair than Zevran, but he's not made of pixels :).

I don't know, it seems to be more 'women assume most women want what they want and those that don't disagree'...

I love how this thread was originally about Leliana's wandering eyes / fashion sense/ ninja love but it turned in a Ali/Zev debate.

For most my adult life, I've been a Zevran and romanced them, but ended up marrying an Alistair. Go figure.

In the whining department, my husband has Alistair, Jowan, and Cammen beat in that department.

methinks Alistair is a Cancer, maybe with Libra rising.

Do you have thousands of women trawling internet forums trying to find out how to become your wife or mistress?  ;)

Ali FTW
