I kept the data. Seems like the smartest thing to do. I killed peeps for it and I want to more time to decide what to do with it.

Seeing as I told the council where to stick their reinstatement offer, and I blew up the base, the Alliance is probably my best bet for a patron ...

Hence why I sent the data to them.

Anyone else quirk an eyebrow when EDI said it would take two years to decrypt?

Seems like it could only come into play if ME3 starts two years after ME2.

That'd be quite strange, as the ending of ME2 has your squad mates look at you expectantly as if they're going to follow you against the reapers immediately after. Then again it can be written off...but that was just the impression I got from the scene.

I highly doubt that every sidequest in ME2 brings something into ME3. But then again, the two years thing is ominous.

I pretty much always keep the data. That way, I have something to hold over the Illusive Man's head so he can't double cross me. Also, you know if you give it to the Alliance, it's just gonna sit around in an archive somewhere.

Yes, this was pretty much my thought process on it. And ending in a big fat question mark, just like mine, too.

Who knows?

Kept the data. Encrypted or not, stuff like that should not be broadcast anyway. And apparently I have the most secure line possible through the Normandy's briefing room and its quantum thingie.

Kept it first round, since I thought it might actually cause trouble (it's like the only N7 mission that you get by email just for advancing the story, thought it was important). Sent it to the Alliance subsequent rounds, since trolling TIM is just. so. much. fun.

-kill all of his operatives in the first game

-bench his human babysitters in favor of alien team

-give psychopath Cerberus data

-give Alliance Cerberus data

-cause his entire spy force to become unfailingly loyal to me

-gain the allegiance of his AI

-screw an alien

-wake up perfect krogan, save a geth

-blow up the base he wants

-steal his super-advanced HAXXOR ship

-become waste of billions of billions of credits

PROBLEM, ILLUSIVE MAN?

I almost always keep the info. A couple of times I sent it off to Cerberus, but I've never sent it to the Alliance and never will.

Keep it for yourself, though transmitting it to EDI means INVARIABLY that it also gets to Cereberus anyways. If you love ME1, send it to the council. Not sure if it will affect much in ME2, but it might be a little substaintial.

EDI is not in anyway connected to Cereberus, other then maybe cams and of course Miranda. if she was she would tell u and it would most likely hamper her and the ship and shepherd.

Huh? Where do you get the idea that EDI and in fact the Normandy are not the property of Cerberus? The logical conclusion to draw is that anything that EDI is aware of TIM knows about it almost immediately. It's a bit of a stretch to imagine otherwise or you're just making stuff up to suit your fancy.

Kept it. My shep will have leverage over the alliance and cerberus if they try to cross him.

Kept it. It's way more useful to keep it than to give it to the Alliance or Cerberus, meaning that it can be used to bargin with those two parties involved.

Also noticed the 2 year thing. I'm hoping that this was a writing mistake or something. I really don't want another '2 year reset' at the beginning of ME3. (it's in the future already. We don't need 'real time' plot advancement).

I asked this origionally, because like I said, it took me ages to decide what to do with my 'main' Shep. (I've done 2, and will probably do the 3rd in my renegade playthrough). It feels like something which might actually have proper consequence at some point, but then, it was an optional sidequest, so probably not.

There were a couple of sidequests like this, actually, where I felt like my choices were more epic than was probably intended. The one with the nukes heading for the city population or alliance trading base was a biggie. I'd really love it, actually, if one of these tiny quests had spiralling consequences in ME3. Like, if you nuked the city, that totally changes the layout of a world you can visit...

Of course, I'm not crazy. I know if any of this stuff matters it matters a tiny amount, but still. I do enjoy the specualtion.

As to the EDI/ Cerberus connection. I'll admit to raising an eyebrow at that myself from time to time. She's made by and owned by Cerberus, but yet she sells TIM out to Shep after the collector base betrayal. I'm nto sure where her allegences lie at this point. I think she could go either way in ME3. We could be in for HAL levels of betrayal here.

I would keep it, EDI should have it completely decrypted by the time ME3 starts up, and having a lot of really damaging data against Cerberus will no doubt be very handy in the future.

indeed this is the perfect, you can have leverage over cerberus, and also make a deal with the alliance for the information, in a way this is just like maelon's research you got to keep it and wait and see how things pan out.

Ive both sent it to the Alliance in some games, and kept it in other. Regardless, I'm not giving TIM anything that helps him out. If it screws him in the long run, I'm all for it.

Kept it for myself. Doesn't Cerberus have spies in the Alliance? Besides I like doing things my way.

Similar to Cerb data that you get in ME. SB wants it but I gave it to the Alliance. There should have been a 'Keep it' option but I'm sure my Shep kept a copy. Shep kept the operative ME2 data too. Going into ME3, the only friends my Shep has is the team.
