Well, those who have played the game even a bit longer surely know they will eventualy venture into Orzammar and end up in the Deep Roads. In order to get the assist from the dwarves against the Blight I have stumbled across a quest called "Anvil of the Void"; I am required to complete this in order to progress in the game, but somehow I simply can not get to the correct place. As the full quest description
"You found Branka's journal, and it seems she was headed into the Dead Trenches. You must follow her. The journal contained a map that shows you the way to the Dead Trenches, through Caridin's Cross."
Sofar I have unlocked 3 different places in the Deep Roads, and I have run through all of them for the last two and a half hours trying to find the place I need to go to. On my map it is shown only when area transiting, in the middle of nowhere. If there is anyone who recalls what to do here, help would be deaply appreciated. This thing is driving me nuts.

You have to go to the dead trenches after you read the journal..the exit to go there is in the same room as the journal basically.

hehe I'm having the same problem, but apparently I'm a step behind... I've explored all of Caridin's Cross and Ortan Thaig (or at least I think I have, ran all over the place) but haven't seen any journal. I went back to Ruck's camp after I read this post, but it wasn't there, and honestly I have no idea where to look. >_>
