I suppose I must have. I haven't really played any except Team Fortress 2 on occasion in the past 2 years. I used to play a lot.

I will play Portal 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 3 when they come out though :)

I do too, and I know why. You have to pay a lot of attention in FP shooters, you have to think quickly, using tactics, and using your environment as cover, you have to aim carefully. You need to adopt to changing environment and situations.

Long story short you need all your senses and lots of concentration tiring your brain quickly.

My most exhausting FP shooters are FEAR project origin, a close second is Enemy territory Wolfenstein. After 1.5 hours I am done.

Opposite. I get hyped up on too much adrenaline and have to wind down for 30 min to an hour afterwords before I can concentrate on anything serious or go to sleep. Though it does depend on the mood I'm in. I won't play fps games casually. If I'm playing, it's because I want to get serious...

Singleplayer - yes.

Multiplayer - no. I love working with a team, trying to play tactically, and the challenge of human opponents is always refreshingly new.

I typically get bored with FPS's unless they are heavily multiplayer. TF2 and BF:BC2 have kept my attention primarily for this reason, but campaigns don't do it for me.

No because I haven't found much fpsers that is lengthy(14+ hours to beat), have a good single player(can only go wireless and don't have/don't want gold subscription), and good replay value. So far I have orange box that gives me huge headaches and far cry 2 which is really repetitive. If you guys can recommend me first person shooters that takes a good amount of time to beat, not repetitive and good single player then I'd like that. If it doesn't take 14+ hours to beat then at least recommend me a game that has a lot of replay value. Thanks

Edit:  It can be on 360 or ps3 since i got both

If you get tired by playing first person shooters you must be playing Valve games. So boring. They're like the computer game equivelents of 2001 A Space Odyssey.

You need to play a good video game.

Here's the difference between Half-Life and Halo.

Bungie's philosophy is to have each encounter be 30 seconds of fun.

Valve's philoshy is to have 30 seconds of fun in the entire game.

You're trying to compare Half-Life to Halo?
Compare Team-Fortress 2 to Halo, that's a closer comparison.

Half-Life's focus is on the story.

Rive, Halo's campaign is the greatest story in the history of video games.

You think Half-Life is better?

How many best sellling novels and comic books did they make off it?

Let me clear this up for you.

Gameplay, story, music... Nothing beats Halo. It is king.

You can disagree, but you'd be wrong.

Depends on the game.

Games like Call Of Duty which involve shooting barrages of enemy's and pressing a button at a flashing gold thing directed by a compass on an obviously linear map get tedious. The art direction also gets bland regardless of graphical upgrades, many weapons in Modern Warfare 2 look coated in grease. Games such as Halo were is it basically grassland from momentous corridor after monotonous corridor in which you shoot smurfs to reach a poor ending which a bunch of cliche's also gets old fast, its' only real claim to fame is dumbing down controls for the pads allowing 12 year olds to shout racism over Xboxlive, which wasn't a good thing, PC for FPS.

When it comes to Valve games barring Leftdead which has now gotten repetitive for me, the art direction, creativity, polish, design, they are a top notch developer crapping out gold. Halflife, Portal, Team Fortress 2 e.t.c. all stand out from the crowd, because Valve are better humanbeings than the other little people. Kids Playing Call Of Duty and Halo are basically eating McDonalds Happy Meals, Valve is a 5 star restaurant, for winners.

Crysis was also good as it's open nature made a change for the many, many, linear shooters we have. Sadly, "good graphics" is what it gets labelled with regardless of it's superior gameplay.

I always get a kick out of Valve fans. It just shows you how different computer games are to video games. Completely different markets.

Edit:
LOL at saying Halo and Call of Duty are like McDonalds. Gabe Newell must enjoy those games a lot then.

Edit:
I'm saying Gabe Newell is fat and it's a wonder he can leave his own house mother's basement.

See that's a bit too condesending to me. I'd put it this way:

Halo (and console gamers in general) are listening to techno/heavy metal music. It can be fun and catchy, it's certain exciting, and it has a prolific following.

Half-Life (and PC gamers in general) are listening to jazz/classic rock music. It has a unique rhythm that's an acquired taste and you tend to find a greater appreciation for it the longer you listen to it.

And both of them tend to think the other sucks :P

Halo (and console gamers in general) are listening to [insert favorite genre here] music. It can be fun and catchy, it's certain exciting, and it has a prolific following.

Half-Life (and PC gamers in general) are listening to J-Pop and Screamo music. It has a unique rhythm that's an acquired taste and drives normal people crazy the longer they listen to it.

And both of them tend to think the other sucks :P

I fixed your analogy. No need to thank me.

And both of them tend to think the other type of person sucks - and some are loud about it.

I refixed it.

That's actually pretty true. I can't become friends with a person if they're a PC fanboy.

Don't get me wrong, I've tried, it just doesn't work out.

I think that's unfortunate. I have plenty of friends that play consoles even if I barely do it myself (I do tend to play single player console exclusive games (Metal Gear Solid 4 was too awesome to pass up). It's just not that important in the grand scheme of things :)

Nah. It's not unfortunate.

I don't care if a person casually plays pc games. I like Solitaire. I just don't hang with people who consider themselves to be "PC gamers".

Perhaps you should work on subdividing out "People who have enjoyed Half Life and Team Fortress 2 on the PC" from "PC Fanboys" then. Different strokes for different folks.

I got the wrong end of the stick on this one. I don;t get any kind of motion sickness from FPSs. Fatigue? Not really. I get bored reasonably quickly. FPSs on any platform are quite high concentration games and tend to exaserbate tunnel vision if played for a long time.

Perhaps that 15 minute break warning is valid afterall.
